Sarasota Cop Andrew Halpin Seen on Tape Throwing Peanuts into mouth of cuffed Homeless Man

Outrage at Florida Police Officer Throwing Peanuts to Homeless Man 0:42
A Florida police department is mired in criticism after an officer was seen on surveillance video throwing peanuts at a homeless man.

The tape shows Officer Andrew Halpin tossing peanuts while booking Randy Miller at the Sarasota County Jail on July 18. Miller is seated and handcuffed, and opens his mouth like a circus animal — apparently at Halpin's command.

Two officers watch in the background as the apparently intoxicated Miller tries to catch the peanuts.

The video was made public on Monday. Sarasota Police Chief Bernadette DiPino told NBC station WFLA she was not aware of the incident until the video was made public.

------

Later in the video, Miller slumps to the floor and eats the peanuts off the floor, while Halpin kicks nuts toward him, the Herald-Tribune said.

Photo of first armless pilot and little girl embracing goes viral

When Jessica Cox arrived at a screening of Right Footed, a documentary about her life as the first-licensed armless pilot, a third-degree black belt and a successful motivational speaker, she hugged three-year-old Ruth Evelyn “RE” Pranke.

This hug was significant not just because RE and her mother, Karlyn, had driven six hours to the event, but because RE, like Cox, was also born without arms.

Photos of RE and Cox’s loving embrace were posted to the pilot’s documentary Facebook page and Twitter page, in addition to other photos from the visit. “You don’t need arms to return a hug… or give one,” reads the caption on Cox and RE’s hugging photo.

Karlyn, who had been a fan of Cox since learning about her daughter’s condition during pregnancy, arranged for the two to meet. She wanted to show her daughter that she could accomplish any of her goals, even without arms, just like Cox had.

cops run stop sign and hit car. arrest sober driver for DUI as cover

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/man-claims-cops-frame-dui-charge-article-1.2298358

A Brooklyn man claims NYPD cops in a SUV passed through a stop sign and broadsided his vehicle — then allegedly fabricated charges that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

“I think the whole thing was insane,” Oliver Wiggins, 31, told the Daily News. “They ran a stop sign and I think they were trying to hide that they caused the accident.”

Wiggins’ lawyer has sent a letter to Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson requesting an investigation of the questionable arrest.

Last week, a prosecutor moved to dismiss the case after the results of a blood test that Wiggins voluntarily took after the accident showed a blood alcohol content of zero and no trace of drugs.

Official documents reviewed by The News raise serious questions about the veracity of the police account charges stemming from the April 19 collision.

hOLY Shit! mom shares pics of kid's sunburns after day care outting (warning - super bad sunburns)

Two Oklahoma boys were sunburned so severely during a day care outing on a blazing hot day they had to be airlifted to a Texas children’s hospital.

The boys’ mother Shaunna Broadway of Vinita is outraged because the center failed to apply sunscreen and shared graphic images of horrific blisters covering her boys’ backs on Facebook and GoFundMe.

When Broadway picked up her sons from Happiness Is a Learning Center last Friday, their skin was red, hot and burned, after spending the afternoon at a local water park. Conner, 7, and Tray, 5, were crying in pain.

The heat index was close to 110 degrees that day and and Broadway says the center told her that ran out of sunscreen.

Broadway phoned the doctor who advised her to watch the boys closely and report back if blisters formed. The next morning, blisters and boils covered their skin, and the boys were in excruciating pain.

"I'll put a hole right through your head" and other bad stuff says off duty detective to driver

A driver's dashcam video posted to YouTube on Sunday appeared to show an off-duty detective threatening to kill a driver during a stop in a town near Boston.

The detective in question, Stephen LeBert of the Medford, Massachusetts, Police Department, is now on administrative leave pending an investigation after the release of the video, which contains explicit language.

"I'll put a hole right through your head," said LeBert repeatedly, often swearing at the driver as well.

The incident happened Sunday night in Medford, a few miles north of downtown Boston. The driver admits he took a wrong turn at a traffic circle, and LeBert pulled him over.

The driver, a 25-year-old man, who would only call himself "Michael," said he did not realize LeBert was a member of the police when the detective first confronted him. LeBert was off duty and wearing camouflage shorts and a tank top at the time of the incident. LeBert does appear to show his badge at one point, but it's not clearly visible on the video.

"He wasn't driving a police vehicle. There were no lights. There was nothing," said the driver in an interview with CNN affiliate WHDH.

After LeBert stood in the street yelling, the driver pulled in behind LeBert's truck. The detective continued yelling.

"You're lucky I'm a cop because I'd be beating the f***ing p*** out of you right now," said LeBert.

the American dentist who paid 55k to kill beloved lion, says he didn't know

Social media and Yelp accounts of Dr. Palmer's practice inundated with furious messages about the hunt

However, speaking to the Star Tribune on Tuesday morning, Dr. Palmer said he was unaware of Cecil's fame and expressed regret but denied any illegality and laid any blame firmly at the door of his guides.
'I hired several professional guides, and they secured all proper permits,' the statement read. 'To my knowledge, everything about this trip was legal and properly handled and conducted.
'I had no idea that the lion I took was a known, local favorite, was collared and part of a study until the end of the hunt. I relied on the expertise of my local professional guides to ensure a legal hunt.'
'Again, I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion,' the statement concluded.
Professional Zimbabwean hunter Theo Bronkhorst and local landowner Honest Ndlovu are due to appear in court this week on poaching charges for allegedly killing Cecil.

“You cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.” says Trump's counsel

“I mean somebody’s doing it!…Who’s doing the raping?” Donald Trump said, when asked to defend his characterization.

It was an unfortunate turn of phrase for Trump—in more ways than one. Not only does the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination have a history of controversial remarks about sexual assault, but as it turns out, his ex-wife Ivana Trump once used “rape” to describe an incident between them in 1989. She later said she felt “violated” by the experience.

Michael Cohen, special counsel at The Trump Organization, defended his boss, saying, “You’re talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as private individual who never raped anybody. And, of course, understand that by the very definition, you can’t rape your spouse.”

“It is true,” Cohen added. “You cannot rape your spouse. And there’s very clear case law.”
