No, Jill Stein, WiFi Isn’t Cooking Our Children’s Brainzzzz

No, Jill Stein, WiFi Isn’t Cooking Our Children’s Brainzzzz
By Fare la Volpe - August 7, 2016 - 12:07pm

Greetings once more, dear readers! It’s that time of the week for the Snake Oil Bulletin!

This week we continue our ongoing theme of examining the anti-science beliefs of the various frontrunners and also-rans of this three-ring election cycle. Originally we were planning to look at Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party and his beliefs on mandatory vaccines (spoiler: he no like), but Green Party Jill Stein made the ill-advised decision speak into a microphone again, and as it was last time, the result was terrible for science.

HUFFPOLLSTER: Arizona Might Be The Newest Battleground State

Virginia also looks bluer than usual.
08/08/2016 08:22 am ET
Natalie Jackson Senior Polling Editor, The Huffington Post

DONALD TRUMP MIGHT BE SHIFTING STATES FROM RED TO PURPLE - HuffPollster: “A new set of battleground state polls out Sunday morning from CBS News/YouGov adds evidence of some surprising trends in the 2016 race: Arizona looks more like a battleground state than Virginia.

Among likely voters in Arizona, CBS/YouGov finds Republican nominee Donald Trump leading by only 2 points. Incorporating that into the HuffPost Pollster average puts Trump only very slightly ahead ― 45.7 percent to Hillary Clinton’s 45.1 percent. In Virginia, Trump is 12 points behind the Democratic nominee among likely voters, according to the CBS/YouGov poll.

Polls have generally found a consistent and substantial Clinton lead in the Old Dominion state. With this latest one included, the HuffPost Pollster average shows Clinton leading by 5.5 points….Both states are showing a reversal from trends in the last few presidential election cycles, and that’s not good news for Trump.” [HuffPost]

Jill Stein in Moscow criticized US human rights, said nothing about Russian human rights

Jill Stein in Moscow criticized US human rights, said nothing about Russian human rights
8/6/16 5:31pm by John Aravosis

Green party Jill Stein, who has expressed skepticism about the safety of vaccinations and wifi, has found another thing in the world that she finds dangerous: America.

And Stein decided to go to Moscow last winter to share her concerns.

And, what do you know, she’s happy to report she found an audience that agrees with her!

Stein’s report from Moscow is in the video below. She went to attend a conference hosted by the Russian state propaganda organ. In a sign of the importance Moscow put on the conference, Putin himself joined Stein and other attendees for dinner.

Donald Trump now says even legal immigrants are a security threat

By Jenna Johnson August 5 at 8:16 PM

First Donald Trump said that he wanted to block nearly all foreign Muslims from entering the United States. More recently, he decided to stop using the word "Muslim" as he called for halting immigration from countries with high rates of terrorism, although he has yet to say which countries that would include.

At a rally in Portland, Maine, on Thursday afternoon, Trump provided a lengthy explanation of why he thinks the United States needs to be skeptical of immigrants from many countries, even if they follow the legal process.

Jill Stein’s anti-vax game: How and why the Green Party candidate is pandering to the anti-vax crowd

Jill Stein sows doubt and fears about vaccinations, and the supposed Snopes debunking did nothing of the sort
AMANDA MARCOTTE

But, as you can see if you click that Vox link above, the accusation is not that Stein herself is personally anti-vaccination. The accusation is that Stein panders to anti-vaccination crowd by sowing doubts about vaccination safety and validating their completely unfounded suspicions that the FDA is somehow working for shadowy corporations.

“Dr. Stein uses a common anti-vaccine dodge in which she denies that she’s anti-vaccine, but then repeats anti-vaccine tropes about vaccines not being tested the same way as other drugs (if anything, they’re tested more rigorously), corruption in big pharma, etc.,” David Gorski, a surgical oncologist and pro-science blogger explained to me. “She even walked back a Tweet from saying ‘there’s no evidence’ that vaccines cause autism to ‘I’m not aware of evidence linking vaccines to autism.’ Talk about an antivaccine dog whistle!”

Donald Trump Is Out of Time

There may be three months to go until Election Day. But the race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton is all but over.
Goldie Taylor 08.03.16 7:50 PM ET

Donald Trump is out of time.

With less than 100 days left in the run-up to the general election this fall, almost any other candidate in any other year could still turn it all around. Smart campaign advisors hunched around a conference room table could fashion a winning strategy to grow the base, entice donors into to the fold and prepare an effective line of attack that focused on his opponent’s most profound vulnerabilities.

But Trump isn’t just any candidate.
