Neo-Nazi Site the Daily Stormer Tried to Go Online in Albania. It Failed

Source: Newsweek

Andrew Anglin just can’t catch a break these days.

The founder of neo-Nazi website the Daily Stormer has struggled recently to find a domain to host his site. Web hosting company GoDaddy removed the site after it published an article disparaging Heather Heyer, an anti-fascist campaigner who died after a man drove a car into a crowd of counter-protesters during a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville earlier in August.

The Daily Stormer was then booted off Google for violating the web giant’s terms of service and retreated to the encrypted dark web after failing to secure a Russian domain.

Anglin announced on Wednesday via the social network Gab that the site had gone live again with the url h t t ps://dailystormer.al/. .al is the top-level domain for sites registered in Albania.

But Host.al, an Albanian domain registrar, confirmed to tech site ZDNet that the Daily Stormer had been “blocked” just hours later after the registrar received complaints.

The CEO of Laura Ingrahams LifeZette Wont Stop Talking About His Employees Boobs and Butts

Source: The Daily Beast

LifeZette, the politics and culture website founded by prominent ally of President Donald Trump and longtime talk radio host Laura Ingraham, is in trouble.

Traffic to the site—billed as the right’s answer to the massive HuffPost when it was founded in 2015—is miniscule, with an average of little more than 10,000 unique visitors per day in July, according to data from ComScore. LifeZette is also the target of a labor complaint aimed at its payroll practices from a former employee who says paychecks came sporadically and with little official documentation, according to documents provided to The Daily Beast.

Most seriously, according to seven sources currently and formerly employed by LifeZette, the organization has become a deeply uncomfortable place for women to work, with a top company official repeatedly making sexually suggestive comments about female employees—sometimes within earshot of those female staffers.

Byron Martinez, LifeZette’s former broadcast engineer and IT administrator, recalled Peter Anthony, the site’s chief executive, “talking about other women’s boobs, butts… how he would desire sexual activities with [female colleagues] and stuff like that… All kinds of inappropriate talk about women in the office.”

Senate Democrats: Really?

https://twitter.com/SenateDems/status/903017204215681026

Edit to add:

12:05 p.m.

President Donald Trump is promising billions to help Texas rebuild from Hurricane Harvey, but his Republican allies in the House are looking at cutting almost $1 billion from disaster accounts to help finance the president’s border wall.

The pending reduction to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s disaster relief account is part of a spending bill that the House is scheduled to consider next week when Congress returns from its August recess. The $876 million cut, part of the 1,305-page measure’s homeland security section, pays for roughly half the cost of Trump’s down payment on a U.S.-Mexico border wall.

It seems sure that GOP leaders will move to reverse the disaster aid cut next week. The optics are politically bad and there’s only $2.3 billion remaining in disaster coffers.

Pete Souza: President Obama with a victim of Hurricane Sandy.

President Obama with a victim of Hurricane Sandy. There are no Democrats or Republicans hurting in Houston; there are just Americans. At a time like this, it shouldn't be about selling baseball hats or commenting on crowd size. It's about helping our fellow human beings. Pets too. This storm is catastrophic, not epic. Thousands of people are affected. Please consider donating to the many charities doing good work in Texas and other states to come. I am donating to the Red Cross and other local charities today but please feel free to comment on other worthy charities that you would recommend to me and others. (UPDATE: As one of your fellow followers points out, The NY Times has a good list of how to help victims and avoid scams. I posted the link in my profile. But keep suggesting others.)

Source: The Hill

Conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren is joining Fox News as a contributor, the network announced Wednesday.

She previously hosted a "On Point with Tomi Lahren" for the One America News Network.

Lahren will debut in her new role as an opinion contributor on Sean Hannity's show at 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Ivanka Backs White House Decision to Block Rule Designed to Prevent Pay Discrimination

Source: Jezebel

On Tuesday, the White House announced that it will stop the implementation of an Obama-era rule that had yet to go into effect and would have required businesses to collect data on how much they pay their workers based race, gender, and ethnicity, the Wall Street Journal reports. Obama proposed the policy back in 2016 in an effort to address discriminatory pay disparity.

Closing the wage gap is something that Ivanka Trump, a business woman and “unpaid assistant to the president” (per WSJ), has championed in several compelling advertisements for her public persona—at least when it comes to gender, the only kind of wage disparity that could possibly impact her in any way. Based on the shallowness of Ivanka’s commitment, it comes as no surprise that Ivanka threw her influence behind the White House’s decision, saying in a statement:

“Ultimately, while I believe the intention was good and agree that pay transparency is important, the proposed policy would not yield the intended results. We look forward to continuing to work with EEOC, OMB, Congress and all relevant stakeholders on robust policies aimed at eliminating the gender wage gap.”

Schmoke formerly worked as an associate program dean for DeVry's college of engineering and information sciences.

DeVry University last year agreed to a $100 million settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over charges that the for-profit college ran deceptive advertisements.
