The wealth of America's billionaires now accounts for 20 percent of GDP.

The wealth of America's billionaires now accounts for 20 percent of GDP.

In the words of Justice Louis Brandeis, we can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.

Amazon Introduces Tiny 'ZenBooths' for Stressed-Out Warehouse Workers

The AmaZen meditation booth is a small room where employees can watch company videos about mindfulness while a small fan moves the air around.

In one of its most dystopian moves yet, Amazon is introducing tiny booths where its overworked warehouse employees can momentarily escape a job so grueling, many employees say they don't feel like they have enough time to even use the bathroom.

The "ZenBooth'' or "Mindful Practice Room," as it's called, is part of the WorkingWell program Amazon announced on May 17. According to an Amazon press release, WorkingWell is a mix of "physical and mental activities, wellness exercises, and healthy eating support” meant to “help them recharge and reenergize." One of the WorkingWell initiatives is AmaZen, which “guides employees through mindfulness practices in individual interactive kiosks at buildings,” according to a press release.

What this looks like in reality is a coffin-sized booth in the middle of an Amazon warehouse where workers can use a computer to view "mental health and mindful practices."

Based on a video released on an Amazon Twitter account, plants sit on a shelf and a fan runs to cool down the employee. The skylight on top is tinted blue. Pamphlets and signs adorn the walls. A computer waits for the employee to load up a guided meditation video.

Amy Cooper Sues Former Employer for Racial Discrimination, Claims She Was ‘Frightened to Death’ of ‘Overzealous Birdwatcher’

Amy Cooper, the white dog-walking Manhattan woman who last year went viral after being filmed calling 911 on a Black birdwatcher in Central Park, filed a lawsuit against her former employer, alleging the company discriminated against her because of her race.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claims that Franklin Templeton, where Cooper worked as a portfolio manager, publicly lied about conducting an internal investigation into the incident, and instead engaged in a coordinated effort to depict her as a racist with “reckless disregard for the destruction of [her] life.”

The company made several public statements last year saying it was performing a thorough investigation into the matter and fired Cooper soon after. Following Cooper’s termination, Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson told Fortune Magazine that the company executives “espouse zero tolerance for racism.”

Noting that the company failed to interview Cooper, the complaint further alleges that “but for [Cooper’s] race,” the company would have performed such an investigation and refrained from making “knowingly false statements” and terminating her employment.

Marjorie Taylor Greene is still at it this morning:

I’m torn here. Don’t want to give this idiotic act any oxygen, but as a Jew, I feel compelled to point out how disgusting this is.

Nazis murdered 6 million Jews. This kind of bullshit drives me crazy. absolutely crazy.

Vaccinated employees get a vaccination logo just like the Nazi’s forced Jewish people to wear a gold star.

Vaccine passports & mask mandates create discrimination against unvaxxed people who trust their immune systems to a virus that is 99% survivable.

Elliot Page beams in shirtless poolside shot: 'Trans BB's first swim trunks'

Elliot Page is radiating summer joy.

The Oscar nominee, 34, posted a shot of himself shirtless by a pool on Monday, showing off his red swim trunks and abs.

"Trans bb's first swim trunks," Page wrote, adding the hashtags #transjoy #transisbeautiful.

The shot is the first shirtless one Page has posted on Instagram since having top surgery, a procedure he previously revealed he underwent earlier this year. Top surgery for transgender men is a surgical procedure to remove breast tissue (subcutaneous mastectomy).

When to see the 'super flower blood moon' and a total lunar eclipse

There will be a full moon on May 26, but this one will be special for multiple reasons. It’s being called a “super flower blood moon.”

First, it will be one of only a few supermoons of the year, when the moon will be closer to the earth and appear brighter and larger.

Second, there will be a total lunar eclipse in the early morning hours of May 26, the first since January 2019. The eclipse will last just 15 minutes, around 7 a.m. ET.

The western half of the U.S. should be able to see most of the eclipse, those living more on the east coast will only be able to see the beginning of the partial eclipse starting around 6 a.m. ET because the sun will be higher in the sky by then.

Trump administration secretly obtained CNN reporter's phone and email records

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)The Trump administration secretly sought and obtained the 2017 phone and email records of a CNN correspondent, the latest instance where federal prosecutors have taken aggressive steps targeting journalists in leak investigations.

The Justice Department informed CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr, in a May 13 letter, that prosecutors had obtained her phone and email records covering two months, between June 1, 2017 to July 31, 2017. The letter listed phone numbers for Starr's Pentagon extension, the CNN Pentagon booth phone number and her home and cell phones, as well as Starr's work and personal email accounts.

It is unclear when the investigation was opened, whether it happened under Attorney General Jeff Sessions or Attorney General William Barr, and what the Trump administration was looking for in Starr's records. The Justice Department confirmed the records were sought through the courts last year but provided no further explanation or context.

A Justice Department official confirmed that Starr was never the target of any investigation.
