Trayvon Martin case: George Zimmerman quietly pleaded not guilty

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/nationworld/sns-la-na-nn-zimmerman-not-guilty-plea-20120424,0,769109.story

OK, we saw this coming...if he was smart, he would have taken a plea, and got worked down to some low low charge that means he would be out in time for the GOP convention in Tampa.

OH, I love this quote:

"The Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure allow Zimmerman to enter a not-guilty plea on paper. Kenneth B. Nunn, a law professor at the University of Florida, said the paper plea was probably a minor tactical maneuver on O'Mara's part to reduce the hassles involved with having Zimmerman appear in public.

"Why have him come out of hiding and have another chance for his location to be discovered -- and then have him go in front of the court for something that's meaningless anyway?" Nunn said.

In short, he is being sneaky, and the courts are allowing him to be sneaky.

Scott approves bill creating Florida Polytechnic University

http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/article1226125.ece

As the article outlines, this university is a political gift to JD Alexander, who has been the godfather iof the GOP led Florida Legislature. In the same budget where Rick Scott cut and diced education (especially University level) he hands this gift to JD, who oddly enough, has land that will be developed around this University. Did I tell you he also has a highway planned that will lead right to this university, land that will be developed at taxpayer expense?

If Debbie Wasserman-Schulz cannot find a way to make this hurt the GOP in November, she should turn in her stripes. This is the perfect example of how the GOP LOVES PORK when it is one of their cronies, and how they will glady slit out throats to feed the pigs.

BTW, not that Florida cannot use a greater commitment to science, but we have UCF, the largest enrollment IN THE USA, near NASA, Of course, good luck trying to get enginnering students to come to a place where their degress are worth jack, especially since India and China take the tech jobs. At the risk of being politcally incorrect, I bet JD raids India and China to stuff his college with students.

OH, last and far from least: here is the "plan"

Jetson style architecture done by an overpriced architect that I am sure will run over budget, and be subject to derison by Polk County, the reddest of Florida counties, you know, the ones that have Klan Rallies in nearby Auburndale. It's funny how these people that claim to hate how we Yankees ruined Florida keep electing the people who do their best to make Florida unlivable. I wonder what they will say when the development Alexander plans to spur brings more newcomers.

OK PPS:
If you are an engineering student in India, China, or anywhere, and this place offers you scholarships to fill it's enrollment, do NOT take it. In addition to getting hosed, you will have to deal with the sort of people that whose only problem with George Zimmerman is that he did not kill enough black people, people ready to "stand their ground" if you look like yo do not belong there? Did I mention that the county seat is in a town called Mulberry, named after a legendary tree the Klan used for some of the largest lynching ceremonies in the South?

SYG, Trayvon, and the GOP convention in Tampa

OK, let me preface this by saying I hope I am wrong about the theory I am going to put forward. I hope so, but these years have taught me that horros stranger than fiction can come forth, especially with the media supporting them.

OK, of course, the right wing media has lept all over the Tray martin shooting, trying to defend zimmerman and that stupid law. Now we have Neo Nazis "patrolling" Sanford. The idea that this issue would come up in Florida, where a contentious GOP convention is going to be, seems a little too coincidental.

Already, they are trying to make "clean zones" where you cannot bring so much as a squirt gun or a mask. Of course, the right wing pointed out that they could NOT ban people with concealed weapons permits. So, you will have the cops beating down anyone whose sign can be thought of as a weapon, while the right wingers will be able to parade with their guns out, ready to act under SYG if they fell "threatened."

And if such a slaughter happens, it will be a great time to blame those "hippies" for starting a riot, and of course, it would take the camera away from the fact that die hard Right wingers are going to try to steal the nomination from Mitt, so they can run, oh, Jeb Bush? And it would be a good chance to show that if they did not lock Tampa down, there would have been more causalties.

Feel free to talk me down folks, but as is, I literally plan to be the hell out of the state that week.

A grover norquist quote that explains why Obama must win.

Yes, Mitt is inept, Yes, Mitt has no spine, Yes, Mitt might even try to bend left to make people like him.

But never forget, the power broker behind the GOP is Grover Norquist, and here is a quote that explains why Mitt is not accpetable under any circumstance:

http://www.westernprogressive.com/2012/02/norquist-wants-a-yes-sir-republican-president.html

"All we have to do is replace Obama. ... We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don't need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. ... We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don't need someone to think it up or design it. The leadership now for the modern conservative movement for the next 20 years will be coming out of the House and the Senate."

Note, Grover knows that they do not need, nor even want, a leader in the white house, just a ribber stamp. They very weakness of Mitt --->IS<--- the selling point, just a W's low IQ was the selling point back in 2000, after all, they want the real leadership to go on behind the scenes, away from any voters.

Remember this quote if you think of staying home in November.

Canada brings down ax on TV, film funding

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118052073

"MONTREAL -- Canuck pubcaster CBC, federal film and TV funder Telefilm Canada and the National Film Board of Canada will all be subject to swingeing 10% budget cuts in the next three years.

The ax dropped Thursday as part of the national budget announced by Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative government. "

OK, Canada, I ask this question with all due respect: what the Blazes is happening up there? Harper has at best 40 percent of the vote, yet he gets to pull crap like this and try to build the oilpipeline of ecological doom?

No, I am not trying to be snide, I was just surprised.

Sanford cops sought warrant to arrest George Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin shooting

http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/article1222259.ece

Samples from article:

Asked to confirm that the police recommended a manslaughter charge, special prosecutor Angela Corey said:

"I don't know about that, but as far as the process I can tell you that the police went to the state attorney with a capias request, meaning: 'We're through with our investigation and here it is for you.' The state attorney impaneled a grand jury, but before anything else could be done, the governor stepped in and asked us to pick it up in midstream."

A capias is a request for charges to be filed."

So, all the racists will have to admit that even the Sanford cops wanted to arrest the guy, so why did the local DA decide NOT to? The plot sickens and thickens.

Zimmerman injured? I call BS

OK, let's examine the scenario. Let us say Trayvon had managed to injure Zimmerman (man, guess he had steroids in the skittles.) Let's say Zimmerman did get his nose busted, and was bleeding.

Now, anytimes someone is injured at a scene, the police offer to get the ambulance, why?

Because people have bled to death after what seemed like a not so serious injury, and then the loving relatives S-U-E. This is especially true in Florida, where ambulance chasing lawyers grow like weeds, and advertise heavily. This is true even in fender benders. People can refuse, of course.

But, who is to say that should have been Zimmerman's call to make. Even if you plead self defense, you still have to be tiried by a jury, which means that until he at the very least made bail, he was supposed to be in CUSTODY. Usually when someone injured is in custody, they get treated, even if they are handcuffed to the f---ing gourney. They can scream "I don't want no f--Ing doctor" til the cows come home, and the PD will simply make sure they see the doctor, not because they are kind, but to COVER THEIR ASSETS.

Of course, none of this happened, and if it did, it sure as hell was not documented, which means, in that fact alone, the sanford PD violated procedure, and opened themslves up to a lawsuit. There is nothing stopping Zimmerman can sayign he has "headaches" now, and knowing Florida, there would be many lawyers foaming at the mouth to suesaying that this guy is messed up for life because they did not offer him the ambulance.

right wing gun kooks

Here is an ugly little thought:

If this "stand your ground law" stands and Zimmerman goes free, think of all the well armed GOP folks in Tampa who might "feel threatened."

But then again, if things get sticky, the Fox news folks will simply call them insane, like Jared Loughner.

Haley says brokered convention not bad

http://gma.yahoo.com/haley-barbour-contested-gop-convention-not-necessarily-bad-160928667--abc-news.html

From the article:

"We have had twice - three times really - Governor Romney looked like he was poised to begin coalescing, and each time he lost the next week, and now we're at another juncture," Barbour said

"Whether or not we have an open convention is up to the primary voters who are left between now and there," Barbour said. "If it is a convention where we get there with nobody having the vote, [that is] not necessarily all bad."

Friends, this is a sea change. We have the former head of the GOP, arguably, one of the more powerful people to have held that office ever, especially when compared to the current GOP head, Michael Steele. Here he says outright that a brokered convention is tolerable. That of course means that the GOP is making preparations for a scenario that would have been unthinkable even in 2000 or 2008.

I consider this a warning shot, especially to those of us smiling because we know Mitt vs. Obama in a debate would be a wash. Please remembers, these people have NO respect for rules, and they know they can crown anyone in Tampa, and still have the superpacs backing them 100% They also know that they have little to lose by ditching Romney, as frankly, if brand Romney has not begun to gel by this point, it will not be ready in time to beat an incumbent.

Odd question about Mitt getting beat in Dixie

And let's be honest, he is getting beat up in Dixie. He has Florida and VA, which are two state which are this close to being northern due to former New York Transplants.

A) Does Dixie shun him, if so why?
B) does this mean he will try to get a real Dixie running mate?
