How Do REPUBLICANS Feel Now About THEIR Recent HERO-WORSHIPING Of Vladimir Putin?

I wonder if there are some Republicans and conservative pundits out there today who are having some regrets. Back in September 2013, there was a lot of turmoil and disagreement going around regarding President Obama possibly looking towards a military resolution to the crisis in Syria. Many Democrats and liberals were against any military action due to basic ideology and the fact that the nation was suffering through war fatigue. However, it appeared that conservatives were against it simply because of their hatred for all things related to Obama. Therefore, when Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote an op-ed for the New York Times, many on the right rallied around the former KGB agent and asked that Obama follow Putin’s lead. In his column, Putin asked that the United States respect the United Nations and follow the advice of the Security Council (which Russia is a part of) and practice caution on any action related to Syria. Putin also stated that peaceful dialogue and diplomacy should be utilized first and foremost and that military action should only occur with a consensus of other nations.



At that time, you had members of the right-wing in this country go ga-ga over Putin. Pundits like Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge, Erick Erickson and Sean Hannity were [bpraising the Russian President for his stance.] Other Republicans like Pat Buchanan and Ralph Peters claimed that Putin was providing the type of leadership that the US apparently lacked at that moment. Basically, if you tuned into Fox News or talk radio during that time, you got a whole lot of Putin hero-worshiping. In fact, the hero-worshiping didn’t stop with Syria. After that, with the Winter Olympics fast approaching, many social conservatives took up the ‘Putin is awesome’ stance due to his country’s anti-gay laws. Therefore, after a while, you had the hawks and the religious right all joining hands and displaying their mutual affection for a man who had essentially become a dictator of his nation.



Well, now that Russia has invaded Crimea and appears to be on the verge of taking over Ukraine, all without any UN consensus or ‘peaceful dialogue’, I wonder how those same conservatives feel about him today? Do they feel used by their latest hero? Can they bring themselves to admit they were wrong about taking the side of a ruthless dictatorial leader over that of their very own president?

Russia Gives Ukraine ULTIMATUM TO SURRENDER

KIEV, March 3 (Reuters) - Russia's Black Sea Fleet has told Ukrainian forces in Crimea to surrender by 5 a.m. (0300 GMT) on Tuesday or face a military assault, Interfax news agency quoted a source in the Ukrainian Defence Ministry as saying.

The ultimatum, Interfax said, was issued by Alexander Vitko, the fleet's commander.

The ministry did not immediately confirm the report and there was no immediate comment by the Black Sea Fleet, which has a base in Crimea, where Russian forces are in control.

"If they do not surrender before 5 a.m. tomorrow, a real assault will be started against units and divisions of the armed forces across Crimea," the agency quoted the ministry source as saying.

Chris Christie shouldn't be written off just yet, according to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

While the governor of New Jersey must continue working to get the George Washington Bridge scandal "behind him," he still has a fighting chance, the Arizona Republican told TIME in an interview published Sunday.




While no evidence has emerged that Christie was personally involved in shutting down lanes at the George Washington bridge, documents released last week show that key players close to his administration joked about causing "traffic problems," only this time in front of the house of a New Jersey rabbi.

John McCain WANTS WAR With Russia, And Here’s Proof!

Johnny (along with Mitt) still can't shake the fact he lost the presidency to a 'black man'.
Now he wants to play make-believe-I'm-the-President.....................................





The results are in and it is official, John McCain has succumbed to the ravages of age and his mind is no longer functioning on a rational level. He is now calling for what we managed to avoid through all of the tensions of the Cold War — war with Russia. In response to the crisis in Ukraine he has released a statement calling on President Obama to take military action against Russia, a move which is not only foolish but premature since Ukraine has already brought the issue to the U.N. Security Council which has not yet had time to attempt a resolution of the situation.


His full statement as posted on his web page says:




As further evidence of his diminishing mental faculties he demonstrates his lack of geographic knowledge when he says that he is afraid that if we don’t intervene the conflict will “expand to eastern Ukraine,” Crimea is eastern Ukraine. McCain has not been at all adverse to speaking up to undermine the President’s foreign policy decisions giving the impression of an old man angry at having lost to the “whippersnapper” in the 2008 election but to call for war with Russia is over the top even for him. He is beginning to come off as the angry old warrior who has one answer for every disagreement — kill ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out. This is the stance he has taken on Iran and more recently Syria. Just a couple of weeks ago he posted graphic photographs of victims of the civil war in Syria on Twitter along with this condemnation of the President’s failure to actively intervene there:




It appears that most Republicans see that his demands for military intervention are ill conceived as only a very few others in Congress are joining him in his call for action. The President has been actively seeking a reasonable solution to the problem and has called on Putin to back off and allow the people of Ukraine resolve their differences without outside intervention.

HAH!!- The KOCH Brothers’ ‘Obamacare Victim’ OWNS PROPERTY With The County GOP Party Chair

It’s an ad so misleading that even conservatives won’t back its Obamacare claims. In the Americans for Prosperity ad aimed at destroying Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Gary Peters, Julie Boonstra inaccurately claims that Obamacare is threatening her cancer treatment and that it “jeopardized my health.” She said her life was on the line due to Obamacare, “Now, the out-of-pocket costs are so high, it’s unaffordable. If I do not receive my medication, I will die.” That’s a really strong accusation, so it drew a lot of attention, and it turned out to be more Koch brothers baloney. When called out on the facts, the Koch Brothers SuperPAC, Americans for Prosperity, and the GOP claimed people were picking on a cancer victim, as if they couldn’t tell the difference between personal attacks and fact-checking. But EclectaBlog revealed that the alleged “Obamacare victim” from the Koch Brothers ad shares property in Dexter, Michigan with former Washtenaw County GOP chair, Mark Boonstra. EclectaBlog wrote that it seems like more than just the AFP are taking advantage of Julie Boonstra:







Dexter is a very small town outside of Ann Arbor. Mr. Boonstra is no political novice. He has a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in applied economics and a law degree from the University of Michigan. And he’s no non-partisan. Mr. Boonstra is a member of the self described conservative and libertarian Federalists Society. In 2012, Mr. Boonstra was appointed by Republican Governor Rick Synder to serve on the Michigan Court of Appeals. This makes sense, since Boonstra is from the Ann Arbor area, as is Rick Synder. Boonstra resides in Dexter, which is just outside of Ann Arbor, and is also the location of the property he shares with the “Obamacare victim”. Boonstra was also the Washtenaw County GOP Chair.



From his bio, “Boonstra has served as senior principal for the Miller Canfield law firm, located on Main Street in downtown Ann Arbor, since 1985. He previously worked as a law clerk for Judge Ralph B. Guy Jr. of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.” The law prohibits coordination between a political party or candidate’s campaign and a PAC. This is exactly what got True the Vote in trouble, when the tea party group was ruled by a judge to have engaged in illegal activities by supporting Republicans in Texas. This same group then presented themselves as “victims” of the IRS, and the media sold that to the people as proof of the IRS targeting conservatives. This lie has since been thoroughly debunked. Mr. Boonstra’s close association with the debunked ‘Obamacare victim’ in the ad brings up the question of whether or not the Republican Party is coordinating their ads with Americans for Prosperity. If they are, that’s a violation of the law. And it also suggests that it’s not that easy to find someone to star in their ads full of lies.

During his podcast Monday, comedian Joe Rogan demolished anti-marijuana arguments made by right-wing pundit Ann Coulter. He played a clip of Coulter during an appearance on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Live,” where she claimed the sole purpose of using marijuana was to get high – unlike alcohol. “Yeah, I drink whiskey for the taste,” said Rogan, questioning Coulter’s mental stability. “Imagine if they came up with alcohol-free whiskey and sold it in those big Arnold Palmer lemonade cans.”




Rogan agreed when Morgan suggested that “everybody drinks alcohol to get slightly higher than they start drinking” – but Coulter did not. “People enjoy wine, they drink wine for purposes – they buy $800 bottles of wine, perhaps you have a warm feeling [but] you can tell if somebody’s been smoking pot,” she said. “Their eyes are red, they giggle at everything, and by the way they’re incapable of carrying on the normal functions of life.”



Rogan dismissed her last claim as ridiculous. “I do jujitsu while high, I do comedy while I’m high, I’m doing this podcast high, I do almost every radio show I ever do high,” he said. “The normal functions of life? Like what? I go to the movies high all the time, go to dinner high all the time. Like, what is she talking about?”



His producer, Brian Redban, suggested that Coulter may be dating a man who smokes pot, and Rogan started riffing. “She’s dating a guy who’s willing to tolerate her, so just imagine what a f*cking idiot he’s going to be,” Rogan said. “‘Oh, he couldn’t function.’ Well, Jesus Christ, it was probably paralytic just being around your f*cking sh*tbag personality. Imagine that, imagine that woman – that’s your girlfriend.”

President Obama Brilliantly Take Down a Heckler Who THINKS He’s Going to BLOW UP RUSSIA

During his speech at the DNC, President Obama was interrupted by a heckler who claimed that he is planning a nuclear war with Russia. The president’s reaction was priceless.






The look on President Obama’s face was priceless. If that wasn’t the ultimate WTF look, I don’t know what is. When protesters have an issue that they care about, this president has been very generous in letting them speak. However, this particular heckler was a crackpot. President Obama doesn’t want to go to war with Russia. He most definitely has no interest in starting a nuclear war. This isn’t the Cold War. Obama isn’t going to nuke Russia over the events in Ukraine. It’s silly to think that is a possibility.


It is even less likely to happen because the president made a statement today that emphasised that the consequences for Russia’s actions in Ukraine will come from the international community. For the millionth time, Barack Obama is not George W. Bush. Even George W. Bush wasn’t cowboy enough to threaten to drop a nuke on somebody. This heckler was a bit of a paranoid freak, and the president handled this individual’s rude interruption incredibly well.

Ted Cruz Used a Senate Aide To BOOK SPEAKING GIGS For His Firebrand Father

Are taxpayers paying for an "aide to the senator serves as a scheduler for the elder Cruz and books his speaking gigs, including those for which Rafael Cruz might be paid."????......







Last October, Sen. Ted Cruz's father, Rafael, was thrust into the spotlight when Mother Jones revealed that the septuagenarian businessman-turned-pastor had made a series of inflammatory remarks during several speaking engagements. These comments included the assertions that the United States is a "Christian nation," that President Barack Obama is an "outright Marxist" who seeks to "destroy all concept of God" and should be sent "back to Kenya," and that "social justice is a cancer." At the time, Sean Rushton, a spokesman for Sen. Cruz, a Texas Republican, said, "Pastor Cruz does not speak for the senator." But documents obtained by Mother Jones show that an aide to the senator serves as a scheduler for the elder Cruz and books his speaking gigs, including those for which Rafael Cruz might be paid.




When an activist, who has asked not to be identified, requested Rafael Cruz's presence at an event, Lela Pittenger, a Ted Cruz aide, replied and forwarded a three-page "Pastor Rafael Cruz Event Request Form." Pittenger, according to 2013 Senate records, was a regional director on Cruz's Senate staff. She made $48,666 in salary working for Ted Cruz in the first nine months of last year. Her Facebook page identifies her as the Central Texas regional director for the senator and notes she lives in Austin. (In 2012, she ran against Ted Cruz in the Republican Senate primary as a "Rand Paul Republican"; she received 1.28 percent of the vote.)




Rushton says that Pittenger is now a full-time staffer for Ted Cruz's campaign operation. But Pittenger, according to Cruz's Senate office in Austin, was part of his Senate staff until last month, and a message posted on Rafael Cruz's Facebook page last November (when Pittenger was on the Senate payroll) refers to Pittenger as the senator's aide who books Rafael Cruz's appearances. Brenda Cash, president of Republican Women of Yoakum in Texas, tells Mother Jones that when she booked Rafael Cruz for a November speaking gig with her group, she did so through Pittenger. "I happen to know [Rafael Cruz's] scheduler," she says. "I spoke to Lela Pittenger…She was working for Sen. Cruz." The "Pastor Rafael Cruz Event Request Form" Pittenger sent to the activist asks a series of questions. Who will introduce Pastor Cruz? Will a podium be provided? Who will be in the audience? Will VIPs or members of the media attend? Will expenses be covered? It also asks, "Does the organizing group normally provide an honorarium to speakers? If yes, what is the expected honorarium for Pastor Cruz?"



There are strict—and sometimes complicated—rules governing how Senate and political campaign funds can be spent, and Pittenger's role as Rafael Cruz's scheduler raises obvious questions. Did she handle his scheduling details—which might have included booking him paying gigs—while on the Senate clock? If so, would that be an improper use of her time? A lawyer with expertise on congressional ethics, who asked not to be identified, says, "If this activity used Senate resources—Senate phones, space, email, or time—then it's likely a problem, because this is not official Senate activity." But this attorney notes that a Senate staffer is allowed to do work for his or her boss's political campaign (without using Senate resources), and it is possible that scheduling Rafael Cruz's speeches could be deemed a campaign-related duty. Federal election rules do prohibit the personal use of campaign funds—and helping the parent of a candidate obtain paid speaking engagements could be considered a personal matter. But one election law expert (who also asked not to be identified) points out that Cruz's campaign could argue that Rafael Cruz's speeches—during which he usually hails his son's political work—benefit the campaign and that it would not be inappropriate to spend campaign funds to book his appearances, even if they are for-profit appearances.
