If you want to reach out to Glenn Youngkin to talk about "divisive subjects" you can do so here.

New Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin is begging Virginia parents to call his tip line to report teachers for teaching "divisive" subjects. While they called it a tip line, the office only revealed an email the press release: helpeducation@governor.virginia.gov.

According to the Washington Post, the number hasn't been up long enough for activists to clog the line. When former President Donald Trump put up a tip line over voter fraud, he wasn't able to capture any actual cases of voter fraud, but the young conservative staffers were "traumatized" by obscene phone calls and pornographic imagery coming into the online reporting site.

"We’re asking for folks to send us reports and observations," Youngkin said, "help us be aware of … their child being denied their rights that parents have in Virginia, and we’re going to make sure we catalogue it all. … And that gives us further, further ability to make sure we’re rooting it out."

Youngkin admitted in a Fox interview that "critical race theory" isn't being taught anywhere in Virginia, despite making it a key component of his 2021 campaign.

'Batgirl' Casts First Openly Trans Character in DC Feature Film History

Batgirl has found Barbara Gordon’s bestie in actor Ivory Aquino, Deadline reported Monday. The When We Rise star will portray bartender Alysia Yeoh, who was the first major transgender character to appear in a mainstream comic book upon her 2011 debut. Yeoh will be the first openly transgender character to be represented in a live-action film adaptation of a DC Comics title. Aquino will join an already-stacked cast, including Leslie Grace as the titular masked hero, Brendan Fraser as the film’s villain, J.K. Simmons as Batgirl’s father, and Michael Keaton finally back in the batsuit, decades after he first appeared in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman flick. Speculation that Aquino, who is transgender, had been cast first sparked earlier this month after Grace posted a shot of what appeared to be the film’s set, tagging Aquino and referencing Yeoh in the caption. A release date for Batgirl, currently in production, has not been announced.

High-Speed Las Vegas Train Back On Track As U.S. Reviews L.A. Extension

Brightline plans to have electric trains operating at speeds of up to 200 miles an hour between Los Angeles and Las Vegas by about 2026. BRIGHTLINE.

Brightline, the only private passenger rail company in the U.S., could begin construction of its high-speed train from Las Vegas by early 2023 as U.S. regulators start reviewing an extension that would connect it to a Los Angeles suburb.

The review focuses on a 49-mile section of Brightline West, the planned service, in California’s Cajon Pass by the Transportation Department’s Federal Rail Administration, the agency said. That segment of the railway, starting in Rancho Cucamonga, would run at speeds of up to 180 miles an hour and connect to a previously approved 216-mile portion from California’s Victor Valley to Las Vegas (speeds on that segment will be up to 200 miles an hour). The assessment could be completed by this November, allowing Brightline to finally begin construction of the project, with an aim of launching passenger rail service in 2026.

If the Brightline West project receives final federal approval the Miami-based company could apply for potential low-interest funding options for high-speed rail included in the recently approved U.S. infrastructure program. Details of the types of federal support for private rail projects haven’t yet been released. The company estimates construction of the 265-mile, electrified railway from Rancho Cucamonga, which connects to downtown Los Angeles via an existing commuter train, to Las Vegas will cost $8 billion and take three years to complete.

IL-06: OCE finds that Marie Newman May Have Bribed Primary Rival

The Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) said on Monday that it had found reason to believe that Democratic Rep. Marie Newman of Illinois offered a job to a potential primary opponent in exchange for a job in her congressional office. The body voted 6-0 to refer the case to the House Ethics Committee on October 15, 2021.

After unsuccessfully challenging moderate Rep. Dan Lipinski in the 2018 Democratic primary, Newman chose to again challenge the conservative Democrat in the following election. And she began making those preparations soon after her loss.

According to a report released on Monday, Newman may have promised a potential primary challenger, Palestinian-American professor Iymen Chehade, a job as her "foreign policy advisor and either District Director or Legislative Director" in a potential future congressional office after the two met in 2018.

Newman told the body that she sought to hire Chehade because of his knowledge on foreign and Arab-American affairs, which she felt was a shortcoming of her 2018 campaign. "It was clear that he had very specific knowledge around Palestine and Israel that I needed. He had been an expert on it," she told investigators.

I’m covering the Sarah Palin/New York Times trial set to start today in the SDNY. Judge Rakoff says he learned last night that Palin has tested positive for COVID. “She is, of course, unvaccinated,” the judge notes.
