Man Whose Life Was Saved By Married Lesbian Cop To Speak At National Convention Of Anti-LGBT Groups

There were times when we wondered if House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) would ever speak at VVS again. But next week, the miraculous recovery of my good friend will literally take center stage, as Steve makes a return trip to the biggest gathering of pro-family conservatives in the country after a shooting that rocked the country. For so many Americans, seeing him back at work, defending our values, has been an answer to prayer — and we look forward to celebrating his incredible journey back to health next Friday, October 13.

While a member of the Louisiana legislature and as his website proudly notes, Steve Scalise authored his state’s successful 2004 ban on same-sex marriage. He continued his crusade in the US House, authoring and sponsoring numerous anti-marriage bills, including a 2014 attempt to allow states to override any federal rulings on same-sex marriage rights.

Rex Tillerson and Jim Mattis summoned to White House by John Kelly: Report

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis were summoned to the White House to "discuss a path forward" following escalating tensions between Tillerson and President Trump, according to a report Thursday evening.

White House chief of staff John Kelly chaired the meeting Wednesday, opting to stay behind in Washington, D.C., while Trump travelled to Las Vegas to meet with victims and first respondents affected by Sunday's Route 91 Harvest country music festival shooting, per NBC News.

Trump was "furious" at an NBC News report published Wednesday that said Tillerson threatened to resign several times over the summer and called the president a "moron" in a July 20 national security meeting at the Pentagon, six senior administration officials told the news outlet. Trump called that report "fake news" in a tweet.

Seven sources also told the television network that Vice President Mike Pence was enraged by the situation.

Pence and Tillerson reportedly spoke on the phone before Tillerson fronted the media in a press conference in which he apologized to Pence and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, but didn't deny he had disparaged the president.

A couple of questions regarding the gun debate.

Why do gun nuts pile on the moment you get the slightest technical fact wrong about guns, or simply use the wrong word? I was flamed on Twitter after I mentioned the bumpstock that turned the Las Vegas shooter's AR-15 into an automatic. The wingnuts predictably jumped and argued the technicality that it was still not at automatic. WHO GIVES A SHIT AT 800 ROUNDS PER MINUTE?
