Hillary Clinton is expected to break her virtual hiatus from the campaign trail this week, when she will endorse Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York in a contested Democratic primary a move sure to enrage liberal activists seeking Mr. Cuomos ouster at the hands of Cynthia Nixon, the actress turned progressive insurgent, the New York Times reports.
Mrs. Clinton has also recorded an automated phone call endorsing Stacey Abrams, the former Democratic leader in the Georgia House, who is competing for the partys nomination for governor on Tuesday.

Stone vows to run candidate against Pence if VP makes 2020 bid
Former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone said in a recent interview that he would run a challenger against Vice President Pence should Pence run for the Oval Office in 2020.
Stone told the conservative website Big League Politics that he doesnt believe its a guarantee that President Trump will run for a second term. Stone said Trump could decide to retire from politics if he accomplishes his agenda in the first four years.
I could see him saying You know what? I dont need this anymore. Ive made America great again. I have kept my promises to the American people. Im heading off to the golf course, Stone said of Trump to the online web show "Howley Reports."
Stone also said he could guarantee that hell run a candidate against Pence should Trump bow out.
Mike Pence is not one of us, Stone said. Mike Pence is controlled by the Koch brothers, who did everything humanly possible to stop Donald Trump from being president, he added, referring to billionaire conservative donors David and Charles Koch.

TX-07: Houston Chronicle endorses Lizzzie Fletcher for Congress
Democrats have a serious chance of knocking Republican Congressman John Culberson out of the seat he has occupied since 2001. The 7th Congressional District encompasses some of the Houston areas wealthiest neighborhoods, from West University Place and Bellaire to flood ravaged subdivisions in west and northwest Harris County. What was once the safely Republican district represented by George H.W. Bush was won by Hillary Clinton in the last presidential election. That caught the attention of seven Democrats who ran in a spirited primary. Now attorney Lizzie Pannill Fletcher and freelance writer Laura Moser face each other in a hotly contested runoff.
Fletcher is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate who edited the William and Mary Law Review, a former Vinson & Elkins attorney who later became the first woman partner at another 50-person litigation firm. Her professional credentials and connections present the Houston model of business-friendly cosmopolitanism that used to be the hallmark of local Republicans. That George H.W. Bush-James Baker model has been abandoned by the Trump crowd and now Democrats like Fletcher are starting to claim the political territory as their own.
Her longtime history of involvement in both the corporate world and local nonprofits offers an appeal to crossover voters yearning to hear the voice of a real Houstonian up in Washington.
Early voting in the primary runoffs begins Monday, May 14, and continues through Friday, May 18. Election Day is the following Tuesday, May 22. Even if you didnt vote in the March primary, you can vote in the runoff. But if you did vote in a partys primary, you cant switch parties for the runoff. RNC Apparently Paying Legal Bills for Hope Hicks
The RNC paid nearly half a million dollars to a law firm that represents former White House communications director Hope Hicks and others in the Russia investigations, the Washington Post reports.
Last year, the RNC began tapping a pool of money stockpiled for election recounts and other legal matters to pay the ballooning legal fees of Trump and his associates drawn into the Russia investigations.

Sam Nunberg, a former campaign advisor to President Donald Trump, predicted that Roger Stone will likely be indicted in Special Counsel Robert Muellers probe into election meddling for "some stupid financial thing" during an appearance on MSNBC.
"Do you think Roger Stone is in any legal jeopardy? MSNBC host Alex Witt asked Nunberg, who has previously described Stone as a "mentor."
"I think Roger is most likely and hes prepared for this and he should begoing to get indicted, on some financial, Id say picayune matter, Nunberg said.
"Mueller is treating all Trump associates as if they are the Mafia," Nunberg added. "And he is very selective about that."
Nunberg went on to say he believes Stone will beat whatever charges come up against him. The former aide, who has earned a reputation for speaking rather candidly during cable news segments, said he still keeps in contact with the former lobbyist.

NV-GOV: Laxalt flees questions about endorsement from accused rapist
Nevada Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt fled from cameras when the subject of his endorsement from a sheriff accused of rape came up.
A man asked Laxalt, the states attorney general, about his connection to the sheriff during a public appearance on Wednesday.
I saw a Facebook ad about you supporting a sheriff who was accused of raping somebody, the man noted. But before he was even able to finish, Laxalt hurriedly turned away and ended the conversation.
The ads in question come from the super PAC American Bridge. The group told the Nevada Independent they were part of a prolonged digital campaign to hold Laxalt accountable on his support from [Storey County Sheriff Gerald] Antinoro and other misogynists and sexual harassers.
Antinoros endorsement is prominently listed on Laxalts official campaign website. The site notes that Laxalt is proud to have the support of Antinoro and other sheriffs.
