RandySF's JournalBill Kristol: GOP Needs to Learn from Trump’s ‘Nationalism’
While Donald Trump is at the bottom of The Weekly Standards list of 2016 candidates (along with Rand Paul, of course, you pinko peaceniks), the magazines leading editor thinks the real estate mogul can teach the party some huge (yooj) lessons.
Always eager to deliver a pseudo-serious take with a shit-eating grin, Bill Kristol told Morning Joe on Monday morning that the party can learn a lot from the billionaire. Im against him on a bunch of issues, but Republicans need to learn from his message the nationalism, the kind-of candor, the willingness to embrace Middle America.
I wouldnt be surprised if he wins the first debate, Kristol said of the candidate who spent 50 minutes rambling about China, Mexico, and his own personal wealth in an announcement speech last week.

MSNBC host goes berserk when ex-Cheney aide says it’s too soon to talk about guns
Im so angry about this, I cant see straight! Witt continued. Im so angry that people have to be mourning the loss of life. Theres got to be something we can do. I respect the fact that we all have to be allowing for mourn and respect and love and remembrance right now. But after that period, then what?
I dont think a gun control law like the president has proposed is the solution, Alex, Christie replied.
According to the former Cheney deputy assistant, gun safety reform laws should not be considered because none of them would have stopped the recent shooting in Charleston.
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean (D) noted that conservatives had two years to mourn for the 20 kids that were killed in Newtown.
So, to say we shouldnt do politics at this time because were in mourning is nonsense, Dean said.

Second GOP lawmaker calls for removing Confederate flag from S.C. State House
Another S.C. Republican lawmaker said Saturday that he would support removing the Confederate flag from the State House grounds.
Rep. Gary Clary, R-Pickens, said he does not blame the flag for the shooting deaths Wednesday of nine African-Americans at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. A 21-year-old white man from the Columbia area with history of making racist comments and shown in photos with the flag has been arrested in the murders.
But, Clary said, the time has come to remove a symbol offensive to some South Carolinians from the State House.
"It needs to be put in an appropriate place," the retired Circuit Court judge said. "Removing a divisive piece of history is something I would consider supporting."
Clary joins fellow Republican state Rep. Doug Brannon of Spartanburg, who said Saturday that he would sponsor legislation when the new session starts in January to remove the flag from its spot along Gervais Street, next to the Confederate memorial. Republicans hold a majority in the S.C. House and Senate.

Nashville restaurant removes Confederate flag artwork
NASHVILLE -- Nashville's Acme Feed & Seed has removed a piece of artwork that features an image of the Confederate flag amid criticism aimed at the establishment and one of its investors, mayoral candidate Charles Robert Bone.
Bone had requested its removal after an anonymous Facebook page surfaced with a photo of him doctored to appear next to the artwork at issue a painting inside the Lower Broadway restaurant and bar that includes a cartoon caricature of a woman wearing Confederate flag bikini bottoms.
"This is offensive and should have no place in Nashville!" the Web page reads.
Acme Feed & Seed owner Tom Morales confirmed its removal in a statement to The Tennessean on Saturday.
"In light of the recent events, Acme Feed & Seed has removed the piece of artwork so as not to confuse anyone about Acme's, our investors' and our supporters' commitment to all people of Nashville," Morales said.

Ted Cruz: 'Gun control means hitting what you aim at'
RED OAK, Iowa - Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) dropped a few gun control jokes during his latest swing through Iowa, days after the shooting deaths of nine people in a Charleston, South Carolina, church.
"You know the great thing about the state of Iowa is, I'm pretty sure you all define gun control the same way we do in Texas -- hitting what you aim at," Cruz said at a town hall meeting Friday in Red Oak.
Before a crowd of nearly 70 people, Cruz recalled a recent excursion to a gun range in New Hampshire that had fully automatic machine guns.
"My wife, Heidi, who is a petite, 5'2 California blonde, she was standing at the tripod unloading the full machine gun with a pink baseball cap that said 'armed and fabulous,'" he said.

Huckabee: Confederate flag-waving South Carolina can’t be racist because it has an ‘Indian’ governor
Appearing on Meet The Press, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee refused to condemn the state of South Carolina for flying the Confederate flag, instead saying the state cant possibly be racist because they elected an Indian governor.
Speaking with host Chuck Todd, the possible Republican presidential nominee continually avoided offering a personal opinion on the flag, failing to answer whether he would ever display one. Instead he turned the questions about flying the flag representing the Confederacy into a defense of the people of South Carolina.
Were asking, Is South Carolina a racist state because of the flag on their capital grounds?' Huckabee said. Heres what I can tell you. As a frequent visitor to South Carolina, this is a state that largely white people elected a female governor of Indian descent and the first ever African-American senator from the South.
Huckabee went on to compare the diversity of South Carolinas lawmakers to liberal bastions such as New York and Massachusetts, before Todd attempted, once again, to turn the discussion back to the flag.

10 people shot, 1 dead, at Detroit block party
DETROIT - A man is dead and nine other people were hurt in a shooting at a block party on Detroit's west side.
About 400 people were at the party enjoying some barbecue and a basketball game Saturday night at Dexter Avenue and Webb Street.
Detroit police don't know if the incident was a drive-by shooting or if someone approached the party, but seven men and three women were shot. Police believe most of them had nothing to do with the gunfight.
The homicide victim, a man who would have turned 21 this year, was shot multiple times. One other person was listed in critical condition.
Witnesses said they grabbed their children and ran for their lives. A stroller and a child's overturned chair were left behind after the deadly shooting. A deflated bounce house sat in one corner as Detroit police combed through the basketball court.

To all presidential candidates: Stop campaigning in SC until the Confederate flag is taken down.
Its time presidential candidates stop putting time and money into a state that officially sponsors the display and maintenance of the Confederate flag with state taxpayer dollars.
Florida Man Bites Store Employee; Tells Police Name is “Dick Oranges"
A Collier County man is accused of biting and swinging a knife at a loss prevention officer who confronted him after some clothing was stolen from a Bealls Department Store earlier this month.
Dick Oranges, 49, faces five criminal charges in connection with the June 4 incident.
A loss prevention officer at the store, 2368 Pine Ridge Road, told Collier County sheriffs deputies he and the stores manager confronted Oranges after seeing him go into a dressing room and emerge without any of the clothing, which was also not found inside the dressing room.
Outside the store, Oranges resisted their attempts to escort him inside, pushing the manager away and biting the officers arms, causing the skin to break, according to an arrest report. The two employees said Oranges then pulled out a knife and started swinging it at the officer.
They backed away. He fled in a gold convertible.

Jeb! FINALLY calls Roof a racist
Personal Note: I guess there was finally too much evidence to avoid using the "R Word"In a speech at a Hillsborough County Republican Party dinner Friday night, Jeb Bush called the Charleston shooter who killed 9 African Americans as they prayed Wednesday a "racist."
"It breaks my heart that somebody, a racist, would do the things he did," Bush said.
The former governor's characterization of shooter Dylann Roof stood in contrast to remarks from earlier Friday, when he said, "I don't know what was on the mind or heart of the man who committed these atrocious crimes."
The earlier remarks came in a speech to Christian conservatives Friday morning at the Washington, D.C. Faith & Freedom Coalition conference.
