Gay mega-donor all in for Hillary

PHILADELPHIA — Hillary Clinton can celebrate the end of the Democratic National Convention by toasting a $1 million contribution from one of the most important Democratic donors in Philadelphia.

Mel Heifetz, a real estate investor and one of the most generous supporters of gay rights causes in the country, is sending a huge signal by putting his support behind the Democratic presidential nominee.

"I don't want to see our country taken apart by [Donald] Trump," Heifetz told The Hill, in an interview at an inn nearby one of his properties in downtown Philadelphia.

Heifetz is a diehard Obama guy, and he says he's proud to have been the No.1 gay donor in the country for the president's reelection in 2012.

Trump Accuses Fire Marshal Of Voting Clinton After Restricting Rally Goers

Donald Trump tore into a fire marshal Friday after Trump's campaign was apparently told more people could not be let in, accusing him of being a Hillary Clinton voter.

During a campaign stop in Colorado Springs, Trump lambasted Colorado Springs Fire Marshall, identified by The Hill as Brett Lacey, as soon as he walked on stage, saying restrictions on attendees at his rally that Lacey apparently imposed were why America "doesn't work."

“So I have to tell you this. This is why our country doesn’t work,” Trump said. “We have plenty of space here. We have thousands of people outside trying to get in. And we have a fire marshal that said, ‘Oh we can’t allow more people.’"

Trump let the crowd know that the campaign set up overflow rooms for those who could not get into the main site. He went on to say while it "wasn't his fault," he was entertaining the idea that the reason why is because the fire marshall is a Clinton supporter.

"The reason they won't let them in is because they don't know what the hell they're doing," he said. "That's why, okay? Too bad. That's why our country has -- hey, maybe they're a Hillary person. Could that be possible? Probably. I don't think there are too many of them. I don't think there are too many of them."

Cornell West said tonight that he might ditch Jill Stein (VIDEO)

At the end of this video, Bill Maher pins West down and gets him to concede that, if Stein is too far behind and he is faced of a choice between Trupm and Clinton, he will vote strategically against fascism.

Kochs reject push to meet with Trump

Top Donald Trump donors tried to set up a meeting between the GOP presidential nominee and Charles Koch in Colorado Springs on Friday, but Koch aides rejected the entreaties, according to two Republicans with knowledge of the outreach.

Koch and his brother David Koch, who helm an influential network of advocacy groups and major conservative donors, have been sharply critical of Trump’s rhetoric and policy stances and have indicated they do not intend to support his campaign.

Trump in turn has blasted the Kochs and other major conservative donors as puppeteers to whom his GOP primary rivals were beholden, while he touted the independence from Big Money he said he achieved by largely self-financing his campaign.

But the billionaire first-time candidate has dialed back his anti-donor rhetoric since he clinched the GOP nomination and began active fundraising for a general election campaign in which his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, and her allies are expected to spend upward of $1.5 billion.

Amazon selling “I wish Hillary had married OJ” t-shirts

Amazon.com is selling “I wish Hillary had married OJ” t-shirts.

The pun of the shirt is that OJ is thought by many to have to killed his wife. So the person is wishing that Hillary had been murdered.

On a t-shirt.

For sale at Amazon.

And it’s not just one t-shirt, there are six pages of them on Amazon — 91 different products, total, and by a number of different vendors.

And they’re being sold via Amazon Prime, which I would think means someone at Amazon actually approved

Superman on ‘Supergirl’: First Look at Tyler Hoechlin as the Man of Steel

Warner Bros. has released the first photo of newly-christened Superman Tyler Hoechlin alongside onscreen cousin, Supergirl‘s Melissa Benoist, and there’s no denying that they make a pretty (sorry!) super pair.

Over the weekend at Comic-Con, Hoechlin told TVLine that he was “looking forward” to slipping into the Man of Steel’s iconic tights and cape (designed here by Supergirl’s costume guru Kiersten Ronning), adding that the whole experience has been “definitely surreal and probably hasn’t sunk in yet, but it will be fun.”

Hoechlin will make his debut as Supes in Supergirl‘s Season 2 premiere on Monday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW.

Houston Chronicle endorses Clinton

The Houston Chronicle, one of the largest newspapers in Texas, is endorsing Hillary Clinton for president and calling Donald Trump a "danger to the Republic."

"Any one of Trump's less-than-sterling qualities - his erratic temperament, his dodgy business practices, his racism, his Putin-like strongman inclinations and faux-populist demagoguery, his contempt for the rule of law, his ignorance - is enough to be disqualifying," said the editorial board on Friday.

"His convention-speech comment, 'I alone can fix it,' should make every American shudder. He is, we believe, a danger to the Republic."
The Chronicle praised Clinton as superior in experience and on a range of issues, including healthcare, immigration, energy and foreign affairs.

"On the issues, there's no comparison in terms of thoughtfulness, thoroughness and practicality," said the board, adding that Clinton will fight for social and economic reforms that will reduce poverty and help women.

McCain granddaughter comes out in support of Clinton

A granddaughter of Sen. John McCain (Ariz), the 2008 GOP White House nominee, has come out in support of this year's Democratic presidential pick, Hillary Clinton, over her own party's nominee, Donald Trump.

In a Medium post titled, "For this Republican, Never Trump means 'I'm With Her,'" Caroline McCain writes that she became opposed to Trump last summer when he questioned her grandfather's status as a war hero.

"I like people who weren't captured," Trump said at the time.

John McCain was held prisoner during the Vietnam War.

While the Arizona senator "responded with grace and forgiveness — as only a man who was held in captivity for years can," Caroline McCain wrote, "I’ve been nursing a grudge ever since."

"He insulted my grandfather and attacked the very qualities  —  loyalty, bravery and selflessness  —  that he and countless other POWs embody," she added.

Every electoral map I see puts Colorado and Virginia in Hillary's pocket.

That's huge if it is the new norm.
