Trump gripes about hotel hot air, says he might not pay bill

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is complaining about hot air at a Virginia hotel, and the hotel is pushing back.

The Republican presidential nominee said he felt like he was “in a sauna” speaking to supporters at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center on Monday and warned he might not pay the bill.

Onstage, Trump, owner of luxury hotels, interrupted his remarks about free trade to berate the hotel about its air conditioning system.

“I don’t know what hotel this is, but you ought to try turning on the air conditioning or we’re not going to get you paid,” Trump said.

TV Ratings: Night one of DNC tops night one of RNC

Night one of the Democratic National Convention delivered approximately 26 million viewers during the 10 p.m.-11:30 p.m. time period, topping night one of the Republican National Convention last week, which drew approximately 23 million viewers, according to preliminary ratings data from Nielsen.

Those figures do not include people watching on TV networks not rated by Nielsen, like C-SPAN, or that streamed the convention online.

The total viewership figure is up from 2008, when 22.3 million viewers tuned into night one. It is very close to 2012’s opening night, which drew 26.3 million viewers.

During the 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. time period, CNN was tops in total viewers with 6.2 million, followed by MSNBC with 4.6 million, NBC with 4.3 million, ABC with 4.1 million, Fox News with 3.3 million and CBS with 3.2 million.

In prime time from 8 p.m. to11 p.m, CNN led cable news with 5.1 million viewers, MSNBC placed second with 3.75 million viewers and Fox News averaged 3.73 million viewers.

Larry Sabato is schooling this MSNBC anchor.

1. Everything little thing becomes overly important during conventions.
2. No one will remember these conventions two weeks form now.
3. Taking polls at this time is waste of time and money.
4. Hillary will likely be ahead of Trump on Labor Day.

Utah Pol Bolts GOP After RNC: Party's Direction ‘Makes Me Want To Cry’

A Utah state senator announced that he was leaving the GOP in despair after attending the Republican National Committee last week.

Sen. Mark Madsen (R-UT) said Monday that his experience as a Utah delegate confirmed all of his concerns about the future of the party.

"Every decision and inclination I had before was reinforced," Madsen said in a press conference where he announced he would become a Libertarian, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Madsen, a three term senator from District 13, supported Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and was disappointed by convention-goers booing Cruz off stage when he urged Republicans to vote their conscience.

Like Cruz, Madsen seems himself as a strict constitutional conservative and believes that “the scales tipped” away in the Republican Party from an emphasis on states’ rights and entitlement reform.

Sanders delegate incites shouting match at Texas delegation breakfast.

A Texas delegation breakfast Tuesday morning broke out in a screaming match as a Bernie Sanders delegate told the crowd he was “condemning our presumptive nominee.”

The comment came during a unity effort, during which the delegate, Russell Lytle, was expected to talk about the Sanders revolution and then segue into ways to work to elect Democrats across the state.

Chaos erupted after his comment as Hillary Clinton supporters and delegates booed the speaker and chanted Clinton’s name.
“We’re just in a state of shock because that’s not what we were told was going to happen,” said Gilberto Hinojosa, chairman of the Texas Democratic Party.

However, Hinojosa said most delegates quickly denounced Lytle's comment.
“Within minutes, Bernie delegates started coming to me and said, ‘We are really sorry. This is not what we planned to do. We do not agree with this,'" Hinojosa recalled.

He said some Sanders delegates then went back on the stage to address the situation and apologized for Lytle’s remark. Lytle has since turned in his credentials and released a statement apologizing for the remark.

Vermont Delegation to Ask For Nomination by Acclamation

it just broke on MSNBC that a roll call will be held during which the Vermont delegation will ask for Hillary to be nominated by acclamation.

July 26, 2016

Why is Andrea Mitchell making a big deal out a roll call vote?

I didn't hear any drama prior to the RNC roll call, and the only time candidate are nominated by acclimation is when they are the incumbent. The exception was 2008 because of the Michigan/Florida mess the led to a near draw in delegates to begin win. The states will be called. The votes will be declared, and Hillary will be nominated. WTF is the drama in that?

What was your most memorable Democratic Convention?

Mine had to be 1988. I was a passionate Jackson supporter and I'll never forget his speech as long as I live. And, most importantly, it was the event that got me interested in politics.

Clinton Pulls Ads In Colorado

First Read: “Given all of the news here in Philadelphia, perhaps Monday’s biggest news was about Colorado — in the Clinton campaign’s decision to pull down its TV ads there, because it feels confident enough about its standing versus Trump in that battleground state. The campaign, however, will continue to advertise in eight other states – Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.”
