FLIPPABLE: Javier Estevez for FL-HD105

Hello, my name is Javier Estevez and I am running to be your State Representative. I have formed this campaign in order to give the people of our community and our state a voice. For far too long the Florida Legislature has prioritized corporate interest above our own. I fully believe it is time that we had a representative that speaks for us and stands alongside the community.

I am a Millennial Democrat who was born, raised and educated in Miami, FL. Both my parents immigrated to Miami from Cuba. They worked hard to build a bright future for themselves and their children. My parents instilled in me the pride and privilege that i feel in being able to call myself an American Citizen. Themselves knowing how hard it is to lose those rights and be forced to leave their home country, to arrive in a brand new place, where they had nothing and didn't speak the language. Thanks to them and so many others that came with them, I know that anything is possible if you work hard and set your mind to it.

I have always stood for what is right and best for our city, state and country. That is why I am running. I have seen our so-called “representatives” ignore the issues that affect us everyday, and instead pass legislation that negatively affects our community. We need to take it upon ourselves to change course and finally have a legislature that focuses on the middle class families and children of our state.

We need to build an economy that not only protects but elevates working and middle class families. We need to build an education system that ensures our Public Schools have increased funding in order to give our children the best education possible. Also, we need to give the resources and pay that our teachers deserve. We need to build a healthcare system that is not only accessible but affordable. A healthcare system that finally focuses on preventative care, and protects our citizens. No one in Florida should die because they couldn't afford healthcare. No one in Florida should work 40 or more hours a week and be living in poverty. We can do better, we must do better.

It is finally time that we had a representative in the state legislature that speaks for us and that prioritizes our community before corporate interest. I believe that together we can positively effect change. I believe that together we can build a future to be proud of. And I believe that together we can finally begin to Build Tomorrow Today.

FLIPPABLE: Cindy Polo for FL-HD103

I never seriously considered running for office because, quite frankly, I found the barriers to be too overwhelming. I am, after all, a regular person. But then Parkland happened. And, well, here I am.

My parents and two older brothers left Colombia in search of a better life. I was born in Providence, Rhode Island and as north easterners are known to, we moved to South Florida to escape the winters when I was two years old.

I’ve lived in the Hialeah and Miami Lakes area since then, attended school and started a family. I’m a graduate of Florida International University where I earned two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in 2004 and a Master of Business Administration in 2011. My career has included time at the Miami HEAT and the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority. Both helped shape my view on the importance of community and open dialogue. Being informed, involved and engaged can make ANYONE and EVERYONE a force to be reckoned with. I am currently a SAHM (Stay-at-Home Mom) and I am tired of not being represented or heard by my elected officials.

FLIPPABLE: Debra Bellanti for FL-HD60

t isn’t easy taking that first step to run for office, but I have faced much harder challenges over my lifetime. I grew up in a household full of love, but short on financial where-with-all. “In-between-checks,” was code for we aren’t eating tonight, or you aren’t getting those new clothes for your first day of school.

But that challenge didn’t keep me from moving forward. I graduated in the top 10% of my high school and was one of the first in my family to go to college and later, the first in my family to own my own business.

Now, I am the first in my family to run for public office.

I am running because I want to restore respect and funding for Public Education. In Florida, money is being taken from our public schools and sent to for-profit charter schools without any accountability. As a mother of a child in public school, this trend to defund our public schools is devastating and one of the main reasons why I am running for Florida House.

I am running to fight for the rights of women. From equal pay for equal work to our reproductive rights. I marched on our State Capitol 28 years ago to ratify the ERA in Florida and nothing was done. It is time to elect more women to our legislature to see this through. It is time.

I am running to fight for the working class. Average American families are being squeezed. The cost of living is increasing while wages remain stagnant. I will fight for a living wage because Americans who work hard to provide for their families should be able to do so without having to work two or three jobs.

I am fighting for our Unions. All too often those in power find ways to demonize our Unions and that has to stop. They helped build the working class and now are the ONLY ones focused on training the next generation of workers. I will do everything in my power to stop the attacks on the Unions in Florida.

I am running to defend smart development. Understanding that the State of Florida is growing, we need to address development and make sure we are protecting our land, coastline, and waterways. Our resources are limited and finite and we must remember that as we address our projected growth.

I am running to keep State Legislators from pre-empting local municipalities. Those closest to the people are the best to govern them. Tallahassee, FL, our State Capitol, shouldn’t be able to decide if a City puts up billboards along their highways or within their cities… the voters in that particular city should.

Now, even more, I am running to correct, create, or enforce the laws regarding gun responsibility in the State of Florida. School shootings are becoming way too regular and we must find a way to address this uniquely American issue.

Join me, support me, and let’s elect leaders to get something done!

FLIPPABLE: Fentrice Driskell for FL-HD63

Tampa Bay is my home. My family lives here. After earning my law degree, I returned to Florida because I wanted to make a difference in my community. Over the years, I have mentored young people, served as a leader in The Florida Bar, and volunteered with programs that support our local families and homeless military veterans.

Tallahassee is broken – the tables are tilted in favor of the powerful and politically connected instead of our hardworking Florida families, small business owners, and seniors.

We need to focus on common-sense solutions to the challenges we face every day in Hillsborough County and throughout Florida, from investing in education and transportation to expanding access to healthcare. That is why I have resolved to elevate my community service to the next level by seeking election to the Florida House of Representatives, District 63.

Please join us in building a better Florida. Together, we can make Tallahassee work again for all of us!

FLIPPABLE: Jennifer Webb for FL-HD69

Jennifer Webb is a proven problem solver and committed community leader who comes from a long line of dedicated public servants, health care professionals, small business owners, teachers and principals. Her family taught her the importance of hard work and the value of giving back.

Growing up, Jennifer met tragedy and hardships with a grace and perseverance she learned early on. A week before her second birthday, her father died when his motorcycle was hit by a truck after coming home from the third shift. With help of an expansive family and a constellation of Catholic nuns and teachers, Jennifer’s mother raised her and her brother while fighting to retain minimum-wage, entry-level secretarial jobs to provide for her children. Although her mother is intelligent and hardworking, Jennifer’s family was vulnerable until her mother was remarried. Jennifer was raised by her community and now strives each and every day to give back to our community.

Jennifer is a proven problem solver and gives back to our community by tackling some of the most pressing problems for our families in Pinellas County. She attracted employers to lower income communities and got people in these communities the skills they needed to do these jobs. She also developed training programs that would lead to higher skill and higher paid jobs, so people weren’t stuck in entry-level positions.

After earning her Masters from University of South Florida, Jennifer taught faculty members how to conduct research with the community and how to teach hands-on classes that help Bay area residents. As the Director of Community Partnerships, Jennifer built projects that bring together business, the university, non-profits, and residents to create stronger communities. Through these projects, she worked to reduce violence and increase employment, to eliminate hunger, to bring justice to victims of crime and abuse of power, to assist student veterans and military members, and to support high quality public schools and the children who attend them.

Jennifer is now a small business owner in the private sector. Yet, she still brings together different sectors to solve some of our most pressing problems. She is currently focused on finding solutions to transportation/traffic, affordable housing, and community health.

Jennifer Webb is running for State Representative to fight for the interests of all of Florida's families, to restore control to our local communities, and to protect our waterways and drinking water.
