Trump: White House 'trying to find out' whistleblower's identity

President Trump said Monday that the White House is “trying to find out” the identity of the intelligence community whistleblower who filed a complaint about the president’s interactions with Ukraine.

“We’re trying to find out about a whistleblower,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when asked if he knows the person’s identity, alleging that they reported “things that are incorrect.”

The president’s remarks came one day after he demanded to meet the whistleblower and cast doubt on the individual’s complaint on Twitter.

Trump on Monday again defended his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that is at the center of the whistleblower complaint, calling it “perfect” and accusing the whistleblower of misrepresenting it in the complaint — a redacted version of which was released publicly last week.

Harris in San Francisco: "Leave Joe Biden Alone."

Harris was asked about the impeachment inquiry launched by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week, based on President Trump's conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On that call, Trump repeatedly urged Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter, who was on the board of a Ukrainian oil company when Biden was serving as President Obama's vice president.

Asked if she were elected president would she allow the son or daughter of her vice president to serve on the board of a foreign oil company, Harris said "probably not" but then launched into an attack on Trump's focus on Biden, which she called "a distraction."

"As far as I'm concerned, leave Joe Biden alone," Harris said. "Just leave him alone on this issue of what this president has done that has been about corrupting America's democracy, being in cahoots with a foreign leader to yet again try and manipulate the election of the president of the United States."

"I'm not going to be distracted by what this president is trying to play which is a game because he knows that he is actually, probably looking at an indictment. And is trying to then distract from the realities of his behaviors that have been in violation of our moral our ethical and probably our legal rules and mores."

Sen. Harris' plea to "leave Biden alone" is somewhat ironic, given that it was her attack on Biden's position on school busing in the 1970s that gave her campaign a rush of publicity and cash in the first debate back in June. But that was then.

With a Monday night deadline approaching for the end of the third quarter fundraising period, Harris left the event for what was described by campaign staff as "small donor" event. Mirroring her position in the polls, Harris has struggled to keep pace with the fundraising demands of a national campaign.

Trump-Supporting Lawyers diGenova and Toensing Teamed Up to Dig Up Ukraine Dirt on Biden

In a bombshell report Sunday morning, Fox News reported that two frequent guests on the right-leaning cable news channel were “working off the books” to help former New York City mayor and current presidential attorney Rudy Giuliani dig up dirt on President Donald Trump’s leading Democratic opponent—and that the only person who knew about their involvement was the president himself.

Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace broke the news that Giuliani wasn’t acting alone when it came to digging up Ukrainian dirt on Trump’s potential 2020 presidential opponent Joe Biden.

“Two high-profile Washington lawyers, Joe diGenova, who’s been a fierce critic of the Democratic investigation, and his wife Victoria Toensing were working with Giuliani to get oppo research on Biden,” Wallace said at the top of his broadcast.

“According to a top U.S. official, all three were working off the books apart from the administration,” Wallace added. “The only person in government who knows what they were doing is President Trump.”

Giuliani has denied working with any other attorneys in his quest for Ukrainian-provided information on the Biden family in recent appearances on Fox News, denials that the network’s own reporting now call into question.

NORTH CAROLINA LAWMAKERS STILL TRYING TO BAN MARRIAGE EQUALITY: 'TELL IT TO SATAN!'

Four years after Obergefell v. Hodges, Republicans in North Carolina are still not fighting to stop marriage equality. And they have a message for supporters of LGBT rights: "Tell it to Satan."

Introduced in the state assembly in February, HB 65, the Marriage Reaffirmation Amendment Act, would revive North Carolina's ban on same-sex marriage, approved by voters in 2012, and render Obergefell null and void and unenforceable. The measure would alsoprohibit civil unions and domestic partnerships for same-sex couples.

The bill also includes language that defines same-sex unions as "parody marriage" and claims "self-asserted sex-based identity narratives and sexual orientations that do not follow the scientifically obvious biology of the human species are inseparably part of the religion of Secular Humanism."

In a statement in February, Equality NC slammed HB 65 as "yet another heartless attempt to rewrite settled legislation that protects same-sex couples all across the state."
