Moon Knight Disney+ Series Details Revealed by MCU Boss,

Between Marvel Studios officially skipping 2020 completely without a single release and Warner Bros. deciding that their entire 2021 slate of DC films will get a simultaneous release on HBO Max, many had been afraid that MCU's Phase IV films were headed for a similar fate. But during Walt Disney Company's Investor Day 2020 webcast, Kevin Feige not only confirmed that all their features are still scheduled to release on their last announced dates but also gave a small, yet exciting update, on the highly-awaited debut of the Marvel Superhero Moon Knight.

Marvel Studios has set up a hectic schedule for itself, not just for 2021, but the years after that as Feige served a detailed peek into what all is in the pipeline, including projects that are yet to begin production. But much like Ms Marvel, Moon Knight is also currently in development for Disney+ and it has been confirmed that the series will be directed by Mohamed Diab, the renowned Egyptian screenwriter and director.

The character of Marc Spector, who moonlights as the superhero Moon Knight, first appeared in the August 1975 edition of the comics Werewolf by Night #32 and shares multiple similarities with DC Comics' Batman. Both are millionaires who use their immense wealthy to make gadgets which they use to stealthy fight crime. They even use similar boomerangs which are known as Moonrangs for Moon Knight. The only distinctive differences between the two is that Moon Knight actually has superpowers and suffers from dissociative personality disorder.

It has already been confirmed that the superhero and his "multiple identities" will be a part of the story.

Kevin Feige Provides Update On Mahershala Ali's 'Blade' Film

Kevin Feige revealed how far into development Mahershala Ali’s Blade film, teasing that more news will be on the way soon.

After the monumental announcement at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 that Mahershala Ali will star in a Blade movie in Marvel Studios’ Phase 5 slate, fans have been eager to learn about the future of the vampire hunter in live-action. Unfortunately the huge wave of news that came out of the Disney Investor presentation didn’t include a first look at the actor as Blade or explain where the story will go, but Mahershala Ali previously revealed that the project has been in the works for some time. However Kevin Feige was at least kind enough to offer a brief update on the solo movie during the presentation.

When speaking to investors (and the fans watching of course), Kevin Feige swiftly explained that the story for Mahershala Ali’s Blade film is coming together. He also emphasised that there are more announcements coming “very, very soon.” It’s not clear whether the film will be a straight-up origin movie or if it’ll throw audiences right in the middle of the vampire-hunting action. It’ll be interesting to see who the studio gets to helm the film, although the Bad Boys 3 directors previously pointed out they’d like a shot at Blade. Shogun': FX Series Retelling of James Clavell's Novel Will Be 'Game of Thrones' in Feudal Japan

FX is developing the scripted series Shogun, a retelling of James Clavell‘s bestselling novel, which is being billed as Game of Thrones in feudal Japan. Boardwalk Empire producer and Thrones director Tim Van Patten is set to produce the series.

At the Disney Investors conference, FX announced that it is developing a retelling of Shogun from Counterpart creator Justin Marks and his wife Rachel Kondo, who will act as supervising producer. The duo are teaming up with Tim Van Patten to adapt Clavell’s Shogun, which follows marooned Englishman John Blackthorne as he is thrust into 17th century Japan, and must negotiate the foreign culture and customs.

Marks, who wrote the Disney live-action Jungle Book, penned the first two episodes of the new retelling of Shogun and heads a writing team that also includes co-executive producer Shannon Goss, consulting producer Matt Lambert, script editor Maegan Houang and staff writer Emily Yoshida. FX had been employing cultural consultants to help with the scripts, according to Deadline.

The series has been in development at FX for quite some time, and was even deep into pre-production last year, before FX put the limited series on hold. Marks was brought on as writer and executive producer in January 2020 with a targeted production start date in Japan in the summer, but then the pandemic hit. But the series seems to be going forward with Marks and Kondo still attached.

The Acolyte: Lucasfilm Announces Star Wars Mystery-Thriller for Disney+

The Acolyte -- a Star Wars television series described as a "mystery-thriller" -- is currently in development for Disney+ from Leslye Headland, creator of Netflix's Russian Doll.

The Acolyte was announced by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as part of Disney Investor Day 2020. An official description on the official Star Wars website explains that the series is "a mystery-thriller that will take the audience into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era." No further plot details have been revealed at this time, nor is any information available regarding casting or a release window.

In addition to The Acolyte, a number of other Star Wars projects were announced for Disney+ during Disney investor day, including two Mandalorian spinoffs: Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic. A special event series titled Lando was also announced, as were two animated shows: A Droid Story and Star Wars: Visions. Updates were also provided on previously-confirmed Disney+ releases such as Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Moreover, it was announced that Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins would be helming a new Star Wars film titled Rogue Squadron.

Disney Plus is getting two new Mandalorian spinoffs: Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka Tano

Lucasfilm has announced two new Star Wars TV shows: Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic, and Star Wars: Ahsoka, both of which will be spinoffs from The Mandalorian. Both shows will be executive produced by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau.

The two shows will crossover with future seasons of The Mandalorian, and culminate in a “climactic story event.” Disney has yet to reveal much information on the two new projects, but Rosario Dawson is set to reprise her role as the live-action Ahsoka Tano for Ahsoka, which the company describes as a “limited series” that will be written by Filoni.

The two series are just several of the new Star Wars shows coming to Disney Plus in the future, along with Star Wars: Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Lando, The Acolyte, the animated Clone Wars spin-off The Bad Batch, and the anime anthology Star Wars: Visions.

Star Wars: Lando is a new 'event series' coming to Disney Plus

Justin Simien — the writer, producer, and director of Dear White People — is creating a Lando Calrissian “event series” for Disney Plus, fittingly titled Star Wars: Lando.

The project is still in early stages of development, and Lucasfilm has yet to provide nearly any details on the project — including whether or not either Billy Dee Williams or Donald Glover, who have played the character in other live-action Star Wars installments, are attached to the project.

The new series joins several of the new Star Wars shows coming to Disney Plus in the future, along with two Mandalorian spin offs: Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka, as well as Star Wars: Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Lando, The Acolyte, the animated Clone Wars spin-off The Bad Batch, and the anime anthology Star Wars: Visions.

Disney also announced its next theatrical Star Wars movie: Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, which will be directed by Patty Jenkins and will be released in 2023.
