Hillary leading Bernie by 30% in Texas.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the first choice of 61 percent of Texas Democrats, building on her earlier support in the state and remaining well ahead of her rivals, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley. Sanders, running second, has been unable to change the fundamental dynamics of a primary where Clinton has the political advantage, as Barack Obama did in 2008.

I just don’t see any signs of weakness,” said Daron Shaw, co-director of the poll and a professor of government at the University of Texas at Austin.

Poll Shows Hillary Clinton Is Seen as More Likely Than Bernie Sanders to Be Effective

With the Democratic presidential nomination contest all but officially a two-person race, Hillary Rodham Clinton appears vastly better positioned than Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont to persuade party primary voters that she would be more effective at passing her agenda and dealing with international crises, according to a New York Times/CBS News survey released Thursday.

Mrs. Clinton even undercuts Mr. Sanders on his core political message, with 62 percent of Democratic primary voters saying she could bring about real change in Washington, compared with 51 percent for Mr. Sanders.

The promise of change, always a popular lure in politics, is at the heart of a striking paradox in the Democratic race. Democratic primary voters say that the ability to deliver needed change is the most important quality they seek in a candidate, and Mr. Sanders’s popularity is highest with voters who want change. Yet 60 percent of Democrats also want their nominee to continue President Obama’s policies, and these voters support Mrs. Clinton over Mr. Sanders by about a 2-to-1 margin.

This advantage for Mrs. Clinton may reflect all-around skepticism that Mr. Sanders’s leftist candidacy can prevail: Her party’s primary voters expect Mrs. Clinton to be their eventual nominee by more than a 4-to-1 margin over Mr. Sanders.

His chief indictment against Mrs. Clinton, that she is an establishment politician who is captive to big-money special interests and inconsistent on liberal priorities, simply has not persuaded many Democrats to abandon her. While 84 percent of them see Mrs. Clinton as under the sway of special interests, she is still the heavy favorite among Democratic primary voters seeking a candidate who is a strong leader with the right experience to be president.

Question re. outdoor events on campus and expectations of privacy.

What bothers me most about the incident involving the reporter at Missouri is the question of what the rally organizers' expectations during the student rally. It was in an open space with no walls or doors. Anyone could have walked by and seen what was going on. Yet, a group of student, however well intended, declared if off limits accept for those who were deemed acceptable tot are part. Now, I am not a lawyer, but I do recall reading numerous time that, when you are in an outdoor public event, especially where there is not even so much as a tent, there is no reasonable expectation of privacy, especially from the press. Did I get this wrong?

Mike Huckabee Makes Sexist Wife Joke To Bash Fed Chair Janet Yellen

GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee joked about his wife being a nag and criticized Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen in one fell swoop Tuesday night.

"My wife's name is Janet," Huckabee said during the Fox Business Network undercard debate. "And when you say Janet yellin', I'm very familiar with what you mean."

Huckabee's comment came in response to a question from the moderator about whether he would keep Yellen on if he were elected president.

Huckabee added that the Fed is in "big trouble" because it hasn't addressed "the fact that wages for the bottom 90 percent of the economy have been stagnant for 40 years."

Debate Moderator: How Can You Compete With 'Free Stuff' From Dems?

Fox Business News host Trish Regan asked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) how he could expect to win the general election without offering any benefits to voters during Tuesday night's undercard Republican presidential debate.

"Governor Christie, you have said that the Democrats' message is one of 'free stuff,'" Regan said. "In contrast, Republicans want to reduce spending. How do you win a national election when the Democrats are offering free health care, a free or subsidized college education and you're the party seemingly offering nothing in the way of immediate tangible benefits?"

"Yeah, sure," Christie replied to laughter from the audience. "If anybody believes the stuff they heard from the democratic debate a few weeks ago, there's nothing for free. What they forget to tell you is they're going to raise your tax rates to 70 or 80 percent in order to provide that stuff."
