SoutherDem
SoutherDem's JournalSo what does the SCOTUS immigration ruling really mean?
So far I have heard only spin on the news media. I have heard from "they took the appetizer, salad and dessert but left the entree, the real meat and potatoes of the law to they took away the teeth and gave an order not to gum anyone.
For some reason I doubt either is true.
Does anyone know what it really means?
How will it affect states like Alabama?
Question on Intrade
Recently I keep hearing about Intrade which from what I understand is a "stock exchange" on various events where people are purchasing "stock" which may be Obama winning, Romney winning, SCOTUS rulings, many events coming up in the future.
My question is what is the difference between Intrade and going to the horse track, or casino?
Isn't it just an internet bet?
Obama being blamed for the gulf hurricane.
Believe it or know, there seems to be a blame Obama message in the comments section on the linked story at Weather.com.
Some of the statements are really hard to believe.

Do you support the mandate?
The SCOTUS will be releasing their decision on the mandate of the ACA.
I have seen many heated discussions here on DU on that very subject.
So, what is your opinion of the mandate.
I just finished watching "The Iron Lady"
This movie left me a bit perplexed, it left me not knowing what to think of the U.K.'s first woman Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
On the one hand it shows how a woman became the first leader of the Western World and on that I can't but admire her for the accomplishments she made.
But, on the other, it showed her to be a stanch conservative and her policies were more excessive that that of Ronald Reagan's and we know the results of that. One scene showed her defend what I took to be a flat tax where the poor would be taxed at the same rate as the wealthy. That I can't admire.
However, this was a movie and I don't trust it to have told the truth without at least some literary license. I have tried to look it up on the internet but have found multiple answers, most extreme opposites. Margaret Thatcher seems to be either the most love Prime Minister the U.K. has had or the most hated.
Does anyone on here know the truth? This is not something which I want to do deep study, I am just wondering because I am unsure how to feel about this pioneer of woman's rights.
Is anyone else having problems with google?
My cable/internet/phone was down earlier so I don't know if it is me, my ISP or google itself.
Obama's fate rests on first debate?
On CNN's website claims the whole race will be decided on October 3rd.
So the pressure is all on Obama?
So Obama is the underdog in a debate?
Nowhere to hide.
And not a teleprompter in sight.
Just Romney, the list of promises Obama made in 2008 and his list of accomplishments heading into the stretch run of 2012.
I know CNN is nothing but FOXlite but this one is really disgusting. Read full story at link.

I may be just me, but it seems all at once the mainstream media is talking about the ACA
I know we are waiting for the SCOTUS to announce their decision but that isn't what I am talking about.
During the debates I heard a lot about "death panels" and I heard the disinformation from Hannity, Limbaugh, Palin, Beck and the rest of the crew repeated on the mainstream new sources, which remember is suppose to be "liberal". I heard very little positive about the ACA but a lot of negative.
Once it was passed the media message was how President Obama walked a thin line of breaking the constitution as to the method in which it did pass.
Since then I have heard all of the challenges by states, all of polls which said it was not popular with the American people. How it was hated and should be repealed.
While the SCOTUS case was being argued I heard once again how it would be an uphill battle and how from the questions of some of the justices the case was all but decided.
Overall, a lot of negative information but very little positive.
However, now that we are days from hearing the SCOTUS decision all at once I am hearing that many American will lose if it is held unconstitutional. I have heard of the refund which won't be paid, of the young people who may loose coverage, of how those with preexisting conditions will once again have problems getting affordable insurance and even some of the dirty tactics insurance companies use and what they consider a preexisting condition.
I discovered this information because I searched for it on the internet, it took a little time, but it wan't hard.
Why now that it is to late to do anything all at once the new media is talking it up as something good?
Now Congress investigates CDC
This will be the next thing to blame on Obama

So Mitt's dad was a Mexican, or at least born there to American parents.
Was this really suppose to help him out with Latino voters?
