Veteran actor, anti-Obama troll James Woods has a new target: Bernie Sanders

Left-wing Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has a horde of supporters in showbiz – from Will Ferrell to Sarah Silverman to members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (see them all in the gallery above).

Now his Hollywood nemesis has revealed himself: Twice Oscar-nominated actor James Woods, who thinks Sanders is an “utter moron.”

The 68-year-old performer disagreed with a Bernie Sanders statement on Twitter about maternity leave. Sanders wrote Monday that “China – not exactly seen as a model when it comes to human rights – provides 14 weeks of maternity leave. The U.S. provides zero.”

In response, Woods had this to say:

James Woods

@RealJamesWoods

China has notoriously killed female infants for population control, you utter moron. #ChinaGendercide https://twitter.com/sensanders/status/656095222070398976

Austin police officer suspended for 90 days over use of Taser on suspect

An Austin police officer involved in two previous high-profile use of force incidents was suspended for 90 days Tuesday for his use of a Taser on a suspect.

The department found no previous wrongdoing in the incidents involving Officer Eric Copeland. However, an internal affairs investigation found that he violated several department policies in the most recent case, including a policy that requires officers to have an impartial attitude toward suspects.

Details of the incident were not available Tuesday afternoon, but the department is expected to release a disciplinary memo against Copeland on Wednesday.

The 90 day suspension is the most Police Chief Art Acevedo can impose under state law without firing an officer.

Abandoned kitten found with note: 'My mommy's boyfriend is mean to me'

SEATTLE, Wash. — A tiny kitten has been rescued from a Seattle alleyway after being left in a box along with a heartbreaking note.

The Daily Mail reports that Rachel Bjork was walking her dog when they came upon the box. She opened it up and found a scared orange and white kitten inside. Written on the flap of the box in a child's handwriting was a note that read: 'My mommy’s boyfriend is mean to me. Desperet for loving home.[sic]'

The nearly 2 month old kitten was taken to the vet and then to the MEOW cat rescue in Kirkland. Although it was on the thin side, the little furball appears to be healthy.

'The baby is now in a foster home with other kittens of similar age and doing very well,' the organization wrote on their Facebook page.

‘Texas’ is slang for ‘crazy’ in Norway

Y’all already all know that Texas is known for its slang. The state is home to a slew of Southern colloquialisms as well as totally unique sayings you won’t hear anywhere else.

But did you know that the word “Texas” is in itself a slang word?

According to Texas Monthly, Norwegians have long used the word “Texas” in lieu of the word “crazy.”

Think that last statement is hogwash?

Ted Cruz Welcomes Backing of Anti-LGBT Bigot Who Believes Gay Marriage Will Lead To Worldwide Disast

Sandy Rios has said President Barack Obama’s decision to light up the White House in rainbow colors following the U.S. Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling increased the terror threat against America. Rios has also said the high court’s decision will result in a major worldwide disaster, and that gay men are child molesters by nature and should therefore be barred from the Boy Scouts.

So perhaps it’s not surprising that Rios (right), who serves as a radio host and director of governmental affairs for the American Family Association, an anti-LGBT hate group, has endorsed Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz for president. And perhaps it’s not surprising that Cruz has wholeheartedly welcomed Rios’ endorsement, which he announced Friday along with the backing of two other conservative activists.

“I am thrilled to have the support of three of the conservative movement’s strongest voices for families, religious liberty and the unborn,” Cruz said in a statement, via Right Wing Watch. “We are running an aggressive grassroots campaign and their help engaging and motivating conservative voters gives our effort a great advantage.”

Two days later, Cruz appeared at a Texas Southern Baptist megachurch alongside five other GOP presidential candidates to talk about so-called threats to religious liberty. From The Texas Tribune:

'Joel Oldsteen' trolls Joel Osteen hard on Facebook

After lasting long enough to gain notoriety, comments on Joel Osteen Ministries' Facebook page from a parody account known as "Joel Oldsteen Ministries" have stopped.

Posts can still be seen on the Facebook page for comedian Ben Palmer, the inspiration behind Joel Oldsteen Ministries.

In addition to being flagrantly irreverent, the Oldsteen comments are absurd.

"Don't tell anyone I told you this, but when I finish a great sermon, I feel like ripping the bible apart and smashing it on the stage," Oldsteen tells a commenter named "Denise."

Federal judge issues temporary restraining order blocking state plan to halt Planned Parenthood

A Baton Rouge federal judge has temporarily blocked the state from ousting Planned Parenthood from Louisiana’s Medicaid program because such removal would deny medical care to poor and needy women who rely on the group’s clinics in the capital city and New Orleans.

In an order filed late Sunday, U.S. District Judge John deGravelles cited the “apparent fragility” of the state health department’s stated reasons for attempting to terminate Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s Medicaid contracts in Louisiana.

The termination was scheduled to take effect Monday, but deGravelles halted it with a temporary restraining order that went into effect at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

The judge indicated he could extend his order while the rest of the case is litigated.

Vitter has learned from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal that there is a strategy to dodging debates

There’s a delicious irony to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s increasingly desperate pleas to be included in the next Republican presidential debate, set for next Wednesday on CNBC.

Back when he was trying to get elected governor, Jindal made a point of debating his frustrated opponents as little as possible.

There’s a simple reason for this. In 2007, Jindal was far and away the front-runner. And sadly, minimizing unscripted showdowns has evolved into standard strategy for candidates who think they have little to gain but perhaps something to lose — even when those candidates are perfectly able to hold their own in such settings.

We’re seeing it on the Democratic side of the presidential ledger, where little-known former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has accused party insiders of limiting the number of debates for the benefit of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Clinton finally appeared on CNN alongside her four rivals last week and did just fine, but the event also offered O’Malley, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, former U.S. Sen. Jim Webb and even poor, out-of-his-depth former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee some big-time exposure and an opportunity to appear as Clinton’s equal in stature.

Texas Lieutenant Governor, Anti-LGBT Hate Group Attack Houston Equal Rights Ordinance

Anti-LGBT Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick posted a video on Facebook Monday alleging Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance is designed to allow men in women’s restrooms.

Patrick’s video, in which he appears next to the lieutenant governor’s seal, is the latest in a series of Internet, TV and radio ads from HERO opponents promoting the widely debunked transgender bathroom myth. Early voting on Houston’s Proposition 1, which would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and 13 other characteristics, began Monday:

“The City of Houston’s Prop 1 is not about equality,” Patrick says in the video. “That’s already the law. It’s about allowing men in women’s locker rooms and bathrooms. Whether your’e a grandmother, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister or wife, or have one, no one should have to share a public restroom or locker room with a man. I haven’t found anyone who thinks they should. Men in women’s bathrooms defies common sense and common decency. Men, stay out of women’s restrooms and locker rooms. Vote No on Houston’s Prop 1.”

Earlier Monday, the anti-LGBT hate group Texas Values Action posted an animated, cartoon-style ad (below) depicting a hypothetical Houston gym owner who fears opening female locker rooms to transgender women.

Bathroom carry: Don't forget to wash your hands, grab your guns

Campus carry certainly is a divisive issue, but nothing unites us quite like our excretory systems. Everyone poops. But when guns are allowed on campus next August, public bathrooms might prove an unlikely mess.

Gun owners are often tempted to remove their holsters and rest their weapons in the various nooks of the stall when they use the restroom, raising the chances of leaving the weapon behind — or worse — accidentally discharging it.

People have found guns in the bathrooms of churches, movie theaters, government buildings, airports and schools. Removing your weapon to drop trou is neither safe nor proper procedure, but then again, there is no proper procedure for gun handling when you “have one in the chamber.” And even one mishap would give serious ammunition (pun intended) to the movement against campus carry.

A member of the U.S. Capitol Police recently forgot his loaded gun in a stall in the Capitol Visitor Center restroom, and it was found by a 7-year-old tourist. This is one of three incidents this year in which a gun was left in a public bathroom by the U.S. Capitol Police. These are professionals charged with the safety of our Congressmen and who carry guns for a living. What will happen when student gun owners — preoccupied with problem sets, parties and pumpkin spice lattes — go between classes?
