Gary Kubiak, Broncos talking to Johnny Manziel
Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak has reached out to fellow former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel as a potential landing spot for the Heisman Trophy winner down the line, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter's report cites sources as saying the Broncos want to see how Manziel's pending legal issues and potential NFL discipline are resolved before they make any move.
Troy Renck, the Broncos beat writer for the Denver Post, shot down the report later Thursday, saying Kubiak reached out to Manziel weeks ago and only did so as a fellow Aggie, not because he had any interest in signing him.
Manziel was accused of assault by ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley in early February. Crowley alleged that Manziel threatened to kill her and himself and also struck her so hard that her left eardrum was ruptured, causing her to lose hearing in that ear.
