Dems grapple with lessons from Clinton disaster

A good read from The Hill this morning

http://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/309483-dems-grapple-with-lessons-from-clinton-disaster

“Everybody can point to something that went wrong — and they’re right,” he said. “It (the close electoral win for Trump) makes it impossible to know what the party really needs to do.

“The [Bernie] Sanders people believe, if only we had been more populist we’d have won, and they’re right. The Hillary people believe, if only Bernie hadn’t attacked her so hard in the primary we’d have won, and they’re right. Everybody’s right.”

Trumps cabinet Generals and CEOs

Trump is picking Generals and CEOs for his positions of power.

These men are used to giving orders and having people jump at their very command.

In the world of politics people are just as likely to flip you off as jump to your command.

It will be interesting to see how these "A" type personalities perform in their respective areas.

I'm betting they will all try to defecate in each others sandbox and cause a wreck. Hopefully I am wrong.

If we survive it, it will be interesting to watch.

Really want to post this so I can add a vomit emoticon after Lieberman's name.

Here you go:

Who is your pick for President in 2020?

Yes, it is early, but in the spirit of trying to get past the firing squad environment on DU, how about we discuss the future together?

It isn't going to be Clinton or Sanders, so we have a clean slate.

Who do you think would be a good candidate?

We need a new house Democratic leader

Pelosi: Comey dashed Dems’ chances to win House majority

http://thehill.com/video/in-the-news/305071-watch-pelosi-comey-dashed-dems-chances-to-win-house-majority

If Rep. Pelosi's prime takeaway from the election is that it was Comey's fault that the House didn't swing Democratic, then we need a new leader for the Democrats in the House.

Comey didn't help the Democrats, that is certain, but there are other major issues that the Democratic party needs to face up to and Nancy Pelosi is not the leader to do it.

We didn't lose seats in the rust belt because of Comey as the prime actor.

Robert Kagan to fund raise for Sec Clinton?

In the spirit of of positive constructive criticism, from a former Bernie supporter, I saw this article on The Hill this morning and was wondering if this was sanctioned by the campaign?

Robert Kagan fundraising for the campaign? A PNAC founder????

Sec. Clinton may need to pivot right, but this is a hard right, if true. Too hard, in my opinion. I would think she would disavow PNAC and its founders, not have them campaign for her.

Here is the headline and link:

Prominent neoconservative to fund raise for Clinton: report

http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/284727-prominent-neoconservative-to-fundraise-for-clinton-report

I looked up the author, Mark Hensch, and, as he is a staff writer for The Hill, don't see that he has a political ax to grind on this topic.

Cenk Uygur Warns Democrats: Don't Bet The Country On Hoping Clinton Remains Less Unpopular Than Trum

TYT: Hillary Clinton’s unfavorability polls could make her the most widely disliked candidate the Democratic party has ever nominated. The only worse candidate happens to be Donald Trump. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down.

Jon Stewart: Hillary Clinton Failing To "Render Her Inauthenticity" Fast Enough To Avoid Lag

"And that is not to say that she is not preferable to Donald Trump, because at this point I would vote for Mr. T over Donald Trump, but she will be in big trouble if she can't find a way -- and maybe I'm wrong, maybe a real person doesn't exist underneath there. I don't know."

"There are politicians who are either rendering their inauthenticity in real enough time to apear authentic, and then there are politicians who are rendering their inauthenticity like if you have a Mac and you want to play a Microsoft game on it, there's this weird lag."

Jon, as always, nails it.

Hillary Bets Big On Kentucky’s Democratic Derby

Clinton is a different story. Statistically and practically, she is the Democrats’ presumptive presidential nominee. And yet there is a nagging worry even among her own party insiders that she is going to be a tough sell in November, the favorable Electoral College math notwithstanding.

A string of recent losses to Sanders — and his continued strong showing, stronger than Clinton’s, in test match-ups against Republican Donald Trump — have heightened that concern.
