I recall reading a story about an incident that happened when the Big

Red One (1st Division) landed at Omaha beach. A soldier who survived related the story that they were trying to pass through wire entanglements that blocked the exits from the beach while being simultaneously raked by murderous MG fire. This surviving soldier noted a soldier, he didn't know, had made it across the draw with a bangelore torpedo (a series of pipes filled with explosives that were used to destroy barb wire entanglements).

The surviving soldier noted the troop across the way tried lighting the fuze from cover to set the bangelore off and destroy the wire. The fuze didn't set off the bangelore explosive and the barb wire obstacle remained in place. The unknown soldier than approached the remaining fuze, looked at the surviving troops shrugged, and lit the fuze instantly destroying the wire and himself. This hero's name is not known.

To think this hero's name will never be known while Trump struts about the beach leaves me no repeatable words.
