Trump has Blanche DuBois-style pity party, whines about Dems making him miss Mar-a-Lago event

Donald J. Trump? Verified account @realDonaldTrump

Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border. They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead. #WeNeedMoreRepublicansIn18 in order to power through mess!

For those asking, the Republicans only have 51 votes in the Senate, and they need 60. That is why we need to win more Republicans in 2018 Election! We can then be even tougher on Crime (and Border), and even better to our Military & Veterans!

"First shutdown since Carter's admin while one party controlled the House, Senate & White House?"

A government shutdown is imminent with no resolution in sight after a Republican-led spending bill was blocked in the Senate. The midnight (Eastern time) deadline is less than an hour and a half away.

President Donald Trump, who was slated to leave on Friday for his Mar-a-Lago resort, delayed his trip while negotiations continued.

One of the major issues holding up progress is a debate over extending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Mick Mulvaney, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, said Friday that “there’s no emergency in terms of the timing on DACA” and argued that “there’s absolutely no reason to tie these two things together right now.”

A government shutdown would be the first since 2013, and would mark the first time since President Jimmy Carter’s administration that a shutdown happened while one party controlled the House, Senate and White House.

Tom Petty's cause of death: accidental pain medication overdose

Tom Petty died of an accidental overdose on pain medication, according to an official statement from his family this evening. The Heartbreakers frontman passed away last October shortly after completing a tour celebrating the band's 40th anniversary.

His family's full statement is below.

Our family sat together this morning with the Medical Examiner – Coroner’s office and we were informed of their final analysis that Tom Petty passed away due to an accidental drug overdose as a result of taking a variety of medications.

Unfortunately Tom’s body suffered from many serious ailments including emphysema, knee problems and most significantly a fractured hip.

Despite this painful injury he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans and he toured for 53 dates with a fractured hip and, as he did, it worsened to a more serious injury.

On the day he died he was informed his hip had graduated to a full on break and it is our feeling that the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his over use of medication.

We knew before the report was shared with us that he was prescribed various pain medications for a multitude of issues including Fentanyl patches and we feel confident that this was, as the coroner found, an unfortunate accident.

"I'll give her a week."

Seven months before an alleged tryst with porn star Stormy Daniels, Donald Trump told radio host Howard Stern that he would give his pregnant wife, Melania, a couple of days — or maybe a week — to regain her model figure after giving birth.

“You know, Howard, she’s got the kind of a body and makeup where, about one day after the baby, it’s going to be the same as it was before,” Trump said during an appearance on Stern’s show on Dec. 7, 2005.

“You’re giving her one day?” Stern asked.

“One or two,” Trump replied.

Moments later, the future president reconsidered. “I think I’ll give her a week,” he said. “No, I’ll give her a week.”

Melania and the Daniels thing

I'm no fan of Melania...if I had a nickel for every time I've posted her "birther" video on DU, I'd be rolling in dough.

The one thing that's sticking in my craw is the bit about Daniels saying she "feels bad" for Melania and "didn't think about it at the time."

Doesn't make me admire Daniels, although there's nothing I've heard from her so far that makes her admirable in my eyes.

It's really easy to say "I feel bad for her" AFTER the "alleged" affair is over.

And while I am no fan of Melania...while I think, from my own naive viewpoint that she should have known what she signed up for with Trump...no one deserves the public humiliation that comes with Daniels' "I screwed Trump" media tour.

Part of me hopes that Melania spends her days reviewing the pre-nup, and the second Trump's out of office, she cashes in her chips and calls it a day.

The whole thing makes me sick. Trump's a pig, we knew that. The depths of his piggishness continue to amaze me.

Trump plans a $50K-per-ticket anniversary party at Mar-A-Lago a day after gov't slated to shut down

Trump is planning a $50,000-per-ticket anniversary party at Mar-A-Lago a day after the government is slated to shut down

As the prospect of a government shutdown hangs over Washington, Donald Trump will travel to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Friday, where he plans to host a one-year anniversary of his inauguration that costs $100,000 for a pair of tickets.

As Bloomberg’s Jennifer Jacobs reports, Trump wanted to throw a year anniversary of his victory last November, but was instead on trip to Asia.

A party to mark the one-year anniversary of Trump’s inauguration is scheduled for Saturday night at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, with tickets starting at $100,000 a pair, I’m told.

Trump: "The Wall is the Wall...The Wall will be paid for by Mexico... We need the Wall..."

Donald J. Trump ?Verified account @realDonaldTrump

The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved from the first day I conceived of it. Parts will be, of necessity, see through and it was never intended to be built in areas where there is natural protection such as mountains, wastelands or tough rivers or water.....

....The Wall will be paid for, directly or indirectly, or through longer term reimbursement, by Mexico, which has a ridiculous $71 billion dollar trade surplus with the U.S. The $20 billion dollar Wall is “peanuts” compared to what Mexico makes from the U.S. NAFTA is a bad joke!

We need the Wall for the safety and security of our country. We need the Wall to help stop the massive inflow of drugs from Mexico, now rated the number one most dangerous country in the world. If there is no Wall, there is no Deal!

SO...Bannon stuck a fork in Don Jr. during testimony. SAD!

Steve Bannon made one conspicuous slip up in his closed-door hearing on Tuesday with the House Intelligence Committee, according to four sources with direct knowledge of the confidential proceedings. Bannon admitted that he'd had conversations with Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer and legal spokesman Mark Corallo about Don Junior's infamous meeting with the Russians in Trump Tower in June 2016.

Why it matters: The meeting — and the subsequent drafting of a misleading statement on Air Force One — has become one of the most important focal points of the Russia investigations, both on Capitol Hill and within Robert Mueller's team, because it provides the closest thing that exists to evidence that the Trump campaign was willing to entertain collusion with Russians.

Trey Gowdy, who led the Republican questioning, pressed Bannon hard on his description of Don Junior's Trump Tower meeting as "treasonous." Gowdy asked Bannon whether he would consider it treason for somebody close to him to approach Wikileaks' Julian Assange to get opposition research on Hillary Clinton. Bannon replied that such a scenario would be bad judgment. Then Gowdy produced emails from a Cambridge Analytica employee — the Trump campaign data firm closely affiliated with Bannon — boasting of just such contacts with Assange. Bannon claimed this was the first time he'd seen these emails (though they've been in the news.)

Another pointed question to Bannon: When he told author Michael Wolff there was a "zero" percent chance that Don Junior didn't bring the Russians up to see his father after their meeting, how did he know that happened? I'm told Bannon all but conceded he was purely speculating.

Stephen Stills' "Light Up the Blues" autism benefit to feature Neil Young, Heartbreakers

Stephen Stills is bringing his Light Up the Blues autism benefit concert back to Los Angeles in April — and this year's lineup will feature the Heartbreakers playing without late frontman Tom Petty, as well as a reunion between Stills and his longtime on-again, off-again partner Neil Young.

As Stills told Rolling Stone, it was actually Young who inspired him to make sure Light Up the Blues happened this year. The two spoke after Young ceded involvement in the Bridge School, the Bay Area organization that benefited from a series of all-star acoustic concerts that became a local tradition, and Young urged Stills to carry on.

"He said, 'Stephen, man, we gotta do Light Up the Blues again,'" Stills recalled. "He said, 'Look, I'm out of the Bridge School. And now it's over to you.' I watched how he did the Bridge School benefits and I got great lessons from it."

Stills and his wife Kristen took 2017 off from hosting Light Up the Blues in order to "focus and expand our fundraising campaign efforts," but vowed at the time that the event would return in 2018 — a promise they're fulfilling with a lineup that's set to include Young and Sheryl Crow, as well as Judy Collins, with whom Stills recently teamed for the Stills & Collins LP, all backed by a house band featuring members of the Heartbreakers. Actor and musician Jack Black will serve as the emcee.
