Trump: If we were to send troops to Iran, it would be "a hell of a lot more than 120,000"

MSNBC
@MSNBC

President Trump disputes report that officials have been considering a plan to potentially send 120,000 troops to the Middle East to counter Iran, if necessary: "If we did that, we'd send a hell of a lot more troops than that."

Senate approves U.S. District Court Judge Michael Truncale 49-46, 105th during Trump presidency

Craig Caplan
@CraigCaplan

49-46: Senate confirms Michael Truncale to be US District Court judge for Eastern TX on near party line vote. Romney was only Republican to vote No. Truncale is the 64th district court judge and 105th federal judge overall approved by Senate during Trump presidency.

https://twitter.com/CraigCaplan/status/1128318546168119297

Michael Truncale is proudly opposed to allowing women the right to choose an abortion, a right the U.S Supreme Court confirmed decades ago. He also refuses to say he supports another landmark Supreme Court civil rights decision: Brown v. Board of Education, which solidified the concept that “separate but equal” is not equal. Brown is a key ruling on which many modern U.S. civil rights are based, including same-sex marriage.

Republicans in the U.S. Senate have just voted to make Truncale a federal judge. He will be sworn in as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Eastern District of Texas.

That Truncale’s nomination to the federal bench is not in question. He is a longtime Texas GOP party official and volunteered for the Trump campaign. He’s also donated thousands to Republicans, including over $7000 to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), according to the nonpartisan website The Vetting Room. Cornyn sits on the Judiciary Committee and voted to confirm him.

Truncale has declared that ObamaCare is unconstitutional. The Supreme Court later disagreed with his take.

HAMPTON, N.H. —
Former Vice President Joe Biden on Monday criticized Rudolph Giuliani – President Donald Trump’s personal attorney and former New York City mayor – for threatening to travel Ukraine to try to convince leaders there to investigate the former vice president and his son.

“I can’t remember any lawyer representing the president, conferring with the president, deciding to go overseas, where a government relies on U.S. largesse to try to get them to do something that everybody knows never happened,” Biden said during a wide-ranging interview with WMUR.

“All the reports indicated that not a single, solitary thing was inappropriate about what my son did. He never talked to me. He never talked to anybody in the administration,” the former vice president said.

“It’s sort of Giuliani’s style and this administration,” Biden said. “It is inappropriate. Unrelated to me, it’s just inappropriate to send your lawyer to a foreign government to try to get them to do something that has no bearing except to try to embarrass.”

Trump brags that his tariffs were making the US richer as stock market ticker shows plummeting Dow

https://www.rawstory.com/2019/05/watch-trump-brags-about-his-china-trade-war-success-as-stock-ticker-shows-market-tanking/

While giving remarks to White House reporters on Monday, Trump bragged that his tariffs were making the United States richer, while a stock-market ticker showed that the Dow Jones Industrial Average was falling by more than 600 points.

“We’re taking in right now hundreds of billions of dollars,” Trump said of his tariffs on Chinese goods. “We’re taking in billions of dollars of tariffs, and those tariffs are going to be tremendously, if you look at what we’ve done thus far with China, we’ve never taken in ten cents until I got elected, now we’re taking in billions of billions.”

Trump also falsely credited the tariffs for economic growth in the first quarter of 2019, even though the majority of economists say the tariffs had nothing to do with strong GDP growth.

“This is a very positive step,” Trump said as the stock ticker continued showing a bloodbath in the markets. “I love the position we’re in.”
