Arby's parent company to buy burger chain Sonic in $2.3 billion deal

Arby's parent company to buy burger chain Sonic in $2.3 billion deal

The company behind Arby's will buy drive-in burger chain Sonic in a deal announced Tuesday.

Inspire Brands, which took over Buffalo Wild Wings last year, will acquire Sonic for $2.3 billion including debt, the company said in a statement.

The purchase adds to Inspire's collection of restaurants that includes, alongside Arby's and Buffalo Wild Wings, Mexican food chain Rusty Taco.

The Sonic purchase plays into Inspire's overall strategy of acquiring distinct, dissimilar brands, the company said. Known for burgers, hot dogs and specialty drinks, Sonic brings focuses not present at Arby's or Rusty Taco while operating outside of the fast-casual realm where Buffalo Wild Wings exists.

Giuliani "agrees with cessation of Mueller investigation in the event of Rosenstein's ouster"

The Daily Beast reports that Sekulow said on his radio show Monday that the Mueller investigation should be given a “time out” if Rosenstein either stepped down or resigned.

“If in fact Rod Rosenstein does end up resigning today, I think it clearly becomes necessary and appropriate… that there be a step back taken here, and a review, a review that has to be thorough and complete… and basically a time out on this inquiry,” he said.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, Giuliani backed up Sekulow’s analysis and told the publication that “he agrees with Sekulow’s call for a cessation of the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller, in the event of Rosenstein’s ouster.”

The White House on Monday afternoon issued a statement saying that Rosenstein was not being fired at the moment, and that the president and Rosenstein would talk about the situation on Thursday.

"Meanwhile, Republican legislators are pressing for Kavanaugh to be quickly confirmed..."

Senate Democrats are investigating accusations by former Yale University student Deborah Ramirez who claims to have had her own “drunken party” incident with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

According to New Yorker reporter Ronan Farrow, Kavanaugh’s freshman year at Yale is now being investigated by at least two Democratic senators. Meanwhile, Republican legislators are pressing for Kavanaugh to be quickly confirmed.

Ramirez was resistant to speak publicly because she was drinking at the same time and she has gaps in her memory similar to the ones Kavanaugh buddy Mark Judge describes. After talking it through and describing the incident, she knows with certainty that Kavanaugh exposed himself during a dormitory party. She said that he “thrust his penis” into her face, and “caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away.”

Ramirez studied sociology and psychology while at Yale and later worked for an organization that helps survivors of domestic violence.

Spokesperson for Grassley’s Judiciary Committee hearings resigns over sexual harassment allegations: report

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/09/spokesperson-grassleys-judiciary-committee-hearings-resigns-sexual-harassment-allegations-report/

A top aide to Judiciary Committee head Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) has resigned over allegations he sexually harassed a woman.

According to NBC, “Garrett Ventry, 29, who served as a communications aide to the committee chaired by Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, had been helping coordinate the majority party’s messaging in the wake of Christine Blasey Ford’s claim that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her 36 years ago at a high school party.”

NBC News raised questions about Ventry’s employment history and the report of sexual assault allegation against him, which led to the resignation.

In a statement, Ventry denied any past “allegations of misconduct.”
