Sister to TxTowelie's JournalHey North Georgians! How are you doing after
Yesterday's storm?
I'm in Forsyth Co and we lost power for about six hours last night. The county does a great job keeping limbs from power lines, but there is no way to prevent trees from falling.
Still waiting for temps to rise so the ice will melt. I'm worried about a couple of trees breaking or falling.
Everyone okay?
Cumming mayor got girlfriend city health insurance, but the whistleblower
http://www.erietvnews.com/story/27691027/taxpayers-paying-health-insurance-for-mayors-girlfriend-but-councilman-targetedgot targeted for impeachment for revealing personal information. Oh my! If only we all could add whomever we wanted to group policies paid by the Govt!
Cumming, GA -- A woman considered the girlfriend of longtime Cumming Mayor H. Ford Gravitt has received city-paid health benefits since 2005, even though she's never been employed by the city, CBS46 News has learned. Meanwhile, a councilman accused of releasing that information will face an impeachment hearing Tuesday.
Councilman Rupert Sexton told investigative reporter Jeff Chirico that he has not done anything "illegal, unethical or immoral" and denied he released what the city claimed is a confidential list of city employees' health insurance information.
"They're hanging me out to dry because I stood up for the people and taxpayers of the city of Cumming," Sexton said.

Sexton, a retired insurance agent, said he initially requested the list in order to find ways to save the city money on health insurance costs. Sexton said he expressed his concerns to Gravitt in August after he found Angie Mullinax was receiving health insurance benefits even though she's not a city employee.
"[My] concern is they're paying a benefit to a person who's not entitled to it. That's the bottom line," Sexton said.

There was a council meeting today. They voted to launch an investigation.
It's snowing (flurries) in north Georgia, Atlanta area.
I can't believe we are getting flurries so early in Autumn, the early morning after Halloween.
The ground is too warm for it to stick, though.
Nasty attack ad on Michelle Nunn unveiled
Snip
The above ad represents what every political observer in Georgia figured was coming: The first of many attack ads targeting Democrat Michelle Nunn using phrases gleaned from the 144-page series of memos leaked from her Senate campaign.
The ad, backed by a seven-figure buy from the conservative Ending Spending Action Fund, quotes the memos use of the words too liberal and lightweight in addressing the nonprofit executives potential vulnerabilities. And it highlights the Nunn campaigns concerns about a Points of Light connection to a charity that has ties to Hamas, the militant group now at war with Israel.
With that latter argument, we are entering potentially new ground. Nunn merged the charity she founded, Hands On Atlanta, with Points of Light, George H.W. Bushs organization. The ex-presidents son, Neil Bush, still chairs the board. Attacks on the nonprofit by GOP nominee David Perdues allies could be interpreted as attacks on the Bush clan, too.

Man who allegedly left son in hot car to die was anti-choice --of course.
Social website postings of Harris, accused if insuring his son, researching details of infant hot car deaths, etc have revealed that he was outspoken about being "pro-life". Yeah. A-huh.
On Reddit a site that investigators testified Harris had read articles on living a "child-free life" Harris engaged in a spirited debate about anti-abortion protests on the University of Alabama's campus last year. Harris wrote, "Killing a person (in the sense of abortion) is selfish and malicious. If you can't support children, don't have sex, don't have abortions."

Today I called the Republican Governors Association to thank them
for sending me the flier about how much Jason Carter supports expanding Obamacare. I told them I'll be very pleased to vote for him now, knowing how much he supports the health care issues. I explained that because of the ACA, my child still has insurance for his medical problems.
The guy sounded really put out that I called.
should I vote in the GOP primary?
I'll probably vote in the Democratic primary.
But there is a school board position that I'd like to vote in because the two challengers are either a teabagger or unqualified. There is no Democrat running in that position.
I might also vote for a less-offending Senate candidate scumbag. I see Broun, Kingston, and Gingrey as the worst. As much as I despise Handel, I'd rather she be defeated by Michelle Nunn.
Any recommendations? I'll be voting in a few hours.
I have some news about TexasTowelie:
He's been ill lately, and has been getting medical help. I don't know if he won't be able to post for a while, but I'm hoping he might be able to gain access to this site and see some good wishes headed his way. I am hoping his friends here will send some Get Well Soon wishes and offers of prayer and comfort.
Please understand that I cannot divulge any details about his illness or where he is. But if he can see DU, I bet the warm feelings expressed towards him here will comfort him in his difficult time.
I am one of his sisters, and I'll check back later on this thread. Thank you very much for your kindness in this matter.
