DeSantis Board Accused of Inside-Dealing After Lawyer Given $500 per Hour Pay.
Just when you thought the current DeSantis board could not sink any lower, a new report allegedly confirms that the now Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), now under Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, might be conducting insider dealing.
Not to get this lawsuit mixed up with the current case between Ron DeSantis and Walt Disney World (WDW), heres a quick update on whats happening. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) governs Disney World, an entertainment resort complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The district was formerly called the Reedy Creek Improvement District.
The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the governing district for the Walt Disney Company in Florida, has been involved in a fight with Disney since April. Disney has sued the district and its board in federal court in Tallahassee, claiming that its free speech rights were violated. Disney is also battling the community in state court in Orlando.
Some changes that have occurred in the district since Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed the new board include:
Employee exodus: Reports from within the district say that it is no longer functional after a mass exodus of employees
Abolishment of DEI programs: The district abolished all of its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs
Increase in building fees: The district is proposing a roughly 30% increase in building fees

Records Show Legislation Meant to Target Disney World for State-Mandated Ride Inspections Came from DeSantis.
A report from local journalist Jason Garcia reveals that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis office was responsible for the failed legislation that would target Walt Disney World for state-mandated ride inspections.
As a refresher, DeSantis held an April 17th press conference earlier this year to outline his plans for retaliation against Walt Disney World for the theme park speaking out against the Dont Say Gay bill back in 2022. During the press conference, DeSantis floated the idea of a state prison at Walt Disney World or even allowing a different theme park operator to come in and build on Disney Worlds doorstep.
Wilton Simpson, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture
As part of the press conference, the newly elected Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson talked about further steps that the State could take to get its hands into Disneys operations. Simpson said that there was a proposal from the Florida Legislature that would allow the State to have a new inspection process for Disney World attractions. At the time, Disney World was one of a handful of theme park operators that were exempt from inspections but must report injuries to the state. Other theme park operators included in the 2001 MOU Exempt Facilities list include SeaWorld, Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens, and Legoland.

Once again, "moderate" Democrat, Manchin, along with republicans, tries (and fails) to thwart Biden.
Senate Republicans failed in their efforts to pass a resolution to overturn President Bidens new student loans income-driven repayment (IDR) plan Wednesday.
All present Republicans and Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) voted in support of a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution that would have halted the Saving on Valuable Education (SAVE) IDR plan, ultimately falling one vote short of the 50 needed to overturn the plan.

Dept. of Civil Rights issues discriminatory charge to Traverse City salon for anti-trans posts.
Source: MichiganAdvance.com
The Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR) has issued a charge of discrimination against Studio 8 Hair Lab, the Traverse City salon that drew national attention in July for anti-trans online posts made by its owner, Christine Geiger.
Geiger declared in an initial Facebook post in July that her salon would deny service to transgender and nonbinary people and said that she was protected by free speech.
If a human identifies as anything other than a man/woman please seek services at a local pet groomer, Geiger wrote in the post. You are not welcome at this salon.
Studio 8 Hair Lab Facebook post
The charge reasoned that Michigan law makes it is unlawful for Studio 8 to print, circulate, post, mail, or otherwise cause to be published a statement which indicates that the full and equal enjoyment of goods or services will be refused because of sex, or that an individuals patronage is objectionable, unwelcome, unacceptable, or undesirable for the same reason.

Hahahaha! Well, good for them!!
A homeowner planned to throw away a painting hanging in her kitchen,
it turned out to be a 13th-century masterpiece worth $25 million.
The Louvre acquired a 13th-century masterpiece after it was nearly discarded as worthless.
Discovered hanging in a kitchen during a house clearance in provincial France and destined for the trash, "Christ Mocked" by the Florentine master Cimabue has been declared a national treasure and is set to find its new home at the world-renowned Louvre Museum in Paris.
The Times reported that the painting was found during a routine house clearance in 2019. "Christ Mocked," initially believed to be of no value, was eventually sold at auction for a staggering $25 million.
The owner, a woman in her nineties, was unaware she'd been looking at an art treasure every day, believing it to be a worthless icon from Russia that she planned to put in the trash.
