About Me

Just a poor liberal lesbian living in the deep south. Don't expect me to be nice just because I am a liberal. I am kind of bitchy with an attitude problem.

How Long Have You Hated Trump?

I have hated, despised and abhored this monster since the 80's when he was elevated to national status. I hated his smug, smarmy, silver spoon in his mouth, white privileged face as soon as a saw it. I recognized evil. I was right.

Anybody have the same visceral reaction to him back in the old days when he was allegedly a Democrat?

On edit: God, he makes me want to puke!!

MacKenzie Scott's donations have shamed the boys of tech -- Bezos above all

MacKenzie Scott has done it again.

Having already donated $1.7 billion to charity by this past July — and announcing that she’s no longer using the last name of her ex-husband, Jeff Bezos — she declared that she has donated another $4.2 billion to 384 organizations in the last four months.

While all the tech bros fight over colonizing space and California tax codes, banding together for the only thing they really care about — fending off anti-trust legislators — Scott makes them all look like stingy, greedy incels without a shred of compassion for those ruined by COVID-19.

“This pandemic has been a wrecking ball in the lives of Americans already struggling,” Scott wrote in a Medium post on Dec. 15. “Economic losses and health outcomes alike have been worse for women, for people of color, and for people living in poverty. Meanwhile, it has substantially increased the wealth of billionaires.”

Billionaires who, with the exception of Bill Gates and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, have been relatively mum on this pandemic. Remember Elon Musk loudly inserting himself into the Thai cave rescue crisis, acting like a real-life Tony Stark? Why so quiet now?

Tulsi Gabbard Introduces Anti-Transgender Bill After Claiming To Be LGBTQ-friendly

Source: Huffingtonpost

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) introduced legislation in the House on Thursday that would bar schools from receiving federal funding if they allow transgender girls and women and non-binary people to compete on sports teams consistent with their gender identities.

The bill — co-sponsored by Republican Rep. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma — was met with immediate outrage from transgender activists and allies who labeled the legislation “blatantly transphobic.”

So, the orange turd is scheduled to speak at 7.

I will not watch that monster, but I am really looking forward to what he has to say.

Was the election fair in Georgia? Were their votes secure? Can they trust the republican governor and the republican secretary of state? Should they bother to vote in the upcoming election?

I am giddy just waiting on his next move to fracture the party that has obstructed everything progressive we have worked for.

These are interesting times.

Hey Congress! We need a damned stimulus check!

Listen up and listen good. We are mad as hell and our representatives are giving away bank to business and what is left over is being given to the working class. Who do you think runs this damned economy? We the people who struggle day to day to pay our bill during these hard times.

We are being asked to sacrifice our health and safety by forcing us out in the work place during a pandemic! Grocery store workers, restaurant workers, healthcare worker, workers, workers, workers!

Yeah, thanks for the little bit you tossed our way, the little crumbs left over after you once again bailed out business.

Merry fucking Christmas.

I just called my republican senators.

I called to ask them when they were going to denounce the president and his followers? That they are calling for a suspension of the constitution, martial law! I am livid that senator rubio and scott continue to support his treasonous actions.

Well, I left a message for them, livid but non threatening. I tell you though I am goddamned furious and ready to defend this election in the streets if I have to. These people have lost their ever loving minds!!!

Shout out to service sororities, Alpha Kappa Alpha in particular.

For all you do for your community and individuals.

I have been having employment problems the last few months due to many reasons. My wife is disabled, we have been utilizing local food banks but we were not looking forward to a bountiful Thanksgiving this year. One of our community leaders in Midway, Florida came to our rescue with her sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha and they provided us with a full dinner from our local grocery store.

We are very grateful for your work in the community. Thank you to all who care enough to do this work. We appreciate you.

Making my version of Pastitsio.

My wife has an allergy to tomatoes and black pepper and has a textural aversion to cooked onions. So, this is a recipe I came up with to approximate Pastsio.

6 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 quart whole milk, warmed until hot
1˝ teaspoons salt
3 large eggs

4 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground lamb
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp oregano
1 tsp onion powder
11/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsps cayenne pepper
1/2 cup water
1 heaping tbsp bouillon
1/2 cup red wine
8 cloves minced garlic

1 pound ziti pasta
3 large eggs, beaten
1˝ teaspoons salt (optional, I'm just going to heavily salt water)
16 ounces grated cheeses Romano, Parmesan,  mozzarella, gruyere, gouda, feta etc.

Or more authentically: 12 to 16 ounces Kasseri or Kefalotiri cheese, grated.

Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Whisk in the flour and then gradually whisk in the hot milk. Cook, whisking constantly, until the sauce is smooth and thickened. Stir in the salt, remove from heat and let cool. When the sauce is lukewarm, whisk in the eggs. Set aside.

Pour 4 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet. Add the garlic and saute until softened and golden. Crumble the beef and lamb into the skillet and cook until the beef is browned. Stir in the cinnamon, salt and pepper. Disolve the bouillon base in the water, pour in mixture and add wine. Simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside.

Cook ziti according to directions on the package.(al dente) Drain and rinse with cool water. When pasta has cooled down, stir in the beaten eggs and optionally stir in 1 1/2 tsp salt.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a deep 9x13-inch casserole dish with nonstick spray. You really need a deep casserole dish for this recipe (deeper than the usual 9x13-inch pyrex).

Scoop half of the pasta into the bottom of your prepared dish. Sprinkle generously with cheese. Spoon on the meat mixture to create an even layer; sprinkle with another layer of cheese. Scoop the remaining pasta on top of the meat and sprinkle with more cheese! Top with the bechamel sauce and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.

Bake 45 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and golden on top. Let sit at room temperature for at least 20 minutes before serving (but it is suggested that you refrigerate to let the layers set... and then warm up later to serve.

On edit:
After making the dish I would leave out the eggs in the bechamel sauce, add more cheese and increase the wine in the meat sauce. And I added 1/4 cup milk to the eggs that were added to the noodles. Also, invest in a deep lasagna pan or use and aluminum disposable one you can find in the grocery store.

True story about my veteran wife.

In 1976 she got an HONORABLE discharge after being caught in flagrante delicto with her girlfriend. She and her lawyer argued that the Navy made her gay. That she was heterosexual until suddenly surrounded by all these women.

Happy veteran's day and thank you all for your service.

On the Covid Diagnosis of the Trumps.

I go to right wing sites and see death wishes and hatred. I see them gloat in the death of RBG. They praise people like the 17 year old who, with his mother, hunted and murdered innocent protesters. If Biden tested positive, they would be howling in delight

I don't miss seeing that here. I don't miss the gloating and disgusting comments. As much as I hate that man and what he and his enablers have done done to this country, I am happy that Democratic Underground has a moral compass.

Thank you.
