Donald Trump released a statement on Saturday attempting damage control after being caught fundraising off of a phony contest.

"Former president Donald Trump’s political group sent at least 15 emails in recent weeks offering small-dollar donors the chance to win a coveted prize if they gave money: dinner with Trump in New Orleans last Saturday," The Washington Post reported Friday. "But no such winner was flown to New Orleans last weekend, according to four people familiar with the matter. No flight or “very nice” hotel was booked. Trump had no individual meeting with a small-dollar donor, instead only privately greeting a handful of Republican Party donors who gave large checks, taking pictures with some of the party’s most well-heeled members and speaking to a larger group of donors who each gave tens of thousands of dollars."

Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich admitted that no prize was every awarded.

The Joe Biden aide tasked with leading sanctions against Russian oligarchs following Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine had an incident at his home, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

"Law enforcement officials have been investigating an incident in which someone accessed the property of a top White House official working on U.S. sanctions against Russia, according to a police report and people familiar with the matter. A man was seen on the property owned by President Biden’s deputy national security adviser, Daleep Singh, about 1 p.m. on Feb. 26, then fled the scene in a 'blue/teal' older model BMW sedan, according to a D.C. police department public incident report," the newspaper reported.

Police labeled the incident as "unlawful entry."

Controversial Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was blasted on Friday for comments made at an event hosted by the foundation started by former Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT).

Thomas warned about "cancel culture" and warned the court could become compromised.

“You can cavalierly talk about packing or stacking the court. You can cavalierly talk about doing this or doing that. At some point the institution is going to be compromised,” he claimed. “By doing this, you continue to chip away at the respect of the institutions that the next generation is going to need if they’re going to have civil society."

A Saturday morning tweet by Rep Adam Kinzinger (R-Il) making fun of Donald Trump's obsession with "manliness" set off a pile-on by critics of the former president who appreciated the GOP lawmaker's description of Trump as "'the most soft coddled person I’ve met."

Kinzinger compared Trump and Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, tweeting out, "t’s amazing when you think about it: Trump is obsessed with this idea of manliness, and he is the most soft coddled person I’ve met. Not kidding. BUT This has to drive him crazy: Vladimir (sic) Zelensky at 5’7” is three times the man both he and @CawthornforNC are combined."

That, in turn, opened the floodgates for critics of the former president with one writing, "His manhood died in childhood and was sealed shut on his 5 deferments. His primal self knows this. His war was using other people and to tear down real people with courage and honor. "

According to a former U.S. Army prosecutor, retired United States Army lieutenant general Mike Flynn, who briefly served in Donald Trump's White House, should be recalled to duty and then face immediate court-martial over his involvement in the Jan 6th insurrection and cover-up.

Noting a CNN report that Flynn appeared virtually before the House Jan 6th committee on Thursday and declined to answer questions, while invoking his 5th Amendment right to not incriminate himself, Glenn Kirschner suggested it is time for the Pentagon to put Flynn on the spot.

In a video posted to YouTube, Kirschner stated "Flynn pleading the 5th raises a number of questions. How in the world can a retired Army general and former National Security Adviser have to invoke his 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination? Because that signals, if he were to testify truthfully, the information he provided would tend to show he committed crimes."

Russian President Vladimir Putin may be the owner of a $700 million superyacht in dry dock in a port in Italy, The New York Times reported on Friday, citing "multiple people briefed on the information."

"United States intelligence agencies have made no final conclusions about the ownership of the superyacht — called the Scheherazade — but American officials said they had found initial indications that it was linked to Mr. Putin. The information from the U.S. officials came after The New York Times reported on Tuesday that Italian authorities were looking into the 459-foot long vessel’s ownership and that a former crew member said it was for the use of Mr. Putin," the newspaper reported.

There has been a great deal of interest in the efforts by western authorities to seize mega-yachts owned by Russian oligarchs, which are being investigated by the Treasury Department’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis, the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence, and the Department of Justice.
