Holocaust Memorial in Boston damaged for second time this summer
The New England Holocaust Memorial in Boston has been damaged for the second time this summer.
A photograph from a Globe reporter at the scene showed the glass paneling on a piece of the memorial smashed. Boston police officers were also at the scene.
One person is in custody for alleged vandalism, Boston police representatives told the Globe, adding that a call came in around 6:40 p.m. Monday.

Swiss Hotel Demands Jewish Guests Shower Before and After Using Their Pool.
A Swiss hotel has been condemned for antisemitism after specifically asking Jewish guests to shower before using the pool, and for placing apparent time restrictions on when they can use the hotel's fridge.
Signs written in broken English and addressed “To our Jewish Guests” at the Aparthaus Paradies Hotel in Arosa, Switzerland, included a demand to “please take a shower before you go swimming and although [sic] after swimming". The sign continued: "If you break the rules, I'm forced to cloes [sic] the swimming pool for you.”
Another sign said: “To our Jewish guests: You are allowed to approach the fridge between the hours: 10.00-11.00 in the morning and 16.30-17.30 in the evening. I hope you understand that our team does not like to be disturbed every time."
It was not immediately apparent how fridge use could disturb the hotel's staff, nor why it could only be opened during specific times.

A protester at the Charlottesville, Virginia white supremacist rally on Saturday said that the "f**king Jew-lovers are gassing us man,'' while being interviewed by a Fox News reporter.
The man was marching with a group of people dressed in military vests and helmets and carrying shields.

From Swastikas to David Duke: Nazism and anti-Semitism take center stage at Charlottesville rally
The most commonly heard chants at a white supremacist rally in Virginia have origins in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and Nazi ideology
The mass gathering of white supremacists and “alt-right” supporters in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday not only centered around a Civil War controversy and the historic racial tension in the south – anti-Semitic and neo-Nazi slogans and symbols were prominent as well, with flags depicting swastikas flying side-by-side with Confederate flags.
The most commonly heard chants at the “Unite the Right” events, the torch-bearing march on Friday night as well as the aborted rally on Saturday, were “You Will Not Replace Us!” (occasionally replaced with “Jews Will Not Replace Us!”) and “Blood and Soil.”
"You Will Not Replace Us” has become a popular white supremacist catchphrase over the past six months. The slogan is used by white supremacists to communicate their intent to defend what they perceive as their white race and culture, and resist being “replaced” by minority groups who – they believe, if demographic trends continue – will turn them into a weak minority, leading to their defeat and eventual disappearance.
The chant “Blood and Soil” has even clearer historic ties to Nazi ideology. Its German version “Blut und Boden” was rooted in Hitler’s belief that so-called German Aryans were rural and tied to their soil through farming and agriculture. His manifestos preached that native Germans “came from the soil,” in contrast to the “cosmopolitan” industrialists, who Hitler associated with corruption, communism and Jews.

We Need To Talk About The Anti-Semitism At The Charlottesville Protest.
This weekend, self-identifying white nationalists, white supremacists, and neo-Nazis marched on the University of Virginia campus in Charlottesville and violently protested in the town, ending with the death of at least one person and leaving dozens more injured. People across the country condemned the events. In addition to the horror of watching those hateful humans march in broad daylight without fearing any consequences, I found it disturbing that many people, including liberals and progressives, didn’t acknowledge the hateful anti-Semitic comments made by these Nazis. In some cases, they tried to argue that they didn’t happen.
Think of those who believe the protesters from Unite the Right weren’t saying “Jew will not replace us,” but “You will not replace us.” Actress Olivia Wilde posted an Instagram on behalf of her mother, a candidate for the House of Representatives, that talked about Nazism and Nazi language, but made no mention of Jews or anti-Semitism. Bernie Sanders mentioned neo-Nazis in a tweet but didn’t talk of Jews or anti-Semitism.
This strange in-between of calling out Nazis without directly acknowledging their hate towards Jews made me heave a very, very long sigh.
While narratives try to say otherwise, America also has a long, violent, and discriminatory history with Jews. Ever heard of the lynching of Jewish-American engineer Leo Frank? The glaring anti-Semitism of celebrated American industrialist Henry Ford? The Johnson-Reed Act of 1924 that used geographic targeting to keep Jews from immigrating to the U.S.? In recent months we’ve seen over 100 Jewish schools and centers receive bomb threats and numerous Jewish cemeteries vandalized in targeted attacks.

Kenya: Tensions spike as opposition claims election results manipulated in 'hacking attack'
A bitterly divisive presidential election in Kenya descended into chaos on Wednesday after the opposition leader claimed that a government-sanctioned hacking attack had subverted the results to rob him of victory.
Police shot dead three protesters as violent clashes in the capital and elsewhere raised fears that the country could again be pitched into electoral violence after Raila Odinga accused Uhuru Kenyatta, the president, of resorting to “massive” fraud to secure re-election.
Mr Kenyatta, seeking a second and final five-year term, was on course for a convincing victory.
With nearly all the votes tallied, the president had secured 54.3 per cent of the vote against Mr Odinga’s 44.8, according to provisional results released by the electoral commission - a much wider margin of victory than opinion polls had suggested.

Sweden: Anti-Israel protesters in Helsingborg call Jews "offspring of apes and pigs"
Police in southern Sweden are investigating an anti-Israel protest where Jewish people were allegedly labelled the "offspring of apes and pigs".
Aside from the investigation the Jewish Community of Northwest Skåne (Judiska Församlingen i Nordvästra Skåne) is also preparing a report to submit to the police, SVT Helsingborg reports.
Several protests have been held by the Swedish-Palestinian Centre in Helsingborg following the unrest at Temple Mount in Jerusalem in July, and films of the demonstrations in the Swedish city have spread on social media.
"We can see that there are elements in these protests that are worrying and serious because they contain anti-Semitic insults and anti-Semitic claims in combination with a violent rhetoric, in a really unfortunate way," Jewish Community of Northwest Skåne chairperson Josefin Thorell told SVT.
Representatives of the Swedish-Palestinian Centre say however that the criticisms expressed in the protests were not aimed at Jews as a group but against the state of Israel. Police in Helsingborg are now attempting to establish what was said.
