Perry's deal with the Ukraine.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Two political supporters of U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry secured a potentially lucrative oil and gas exploration deal from the Ukrainian government soon after Perry proposed one of the men as an adviser to the country’s new president.

The gloves are coming off.

If you thought it was nuts before, just wait to see what Barr is going to cook up at Trump’s orders. Our current state of affairs is already mind boggling and it’s only going to become more intense as the election gets closer. The gloves are coming off and it’s sink or swim time so hang on tight. The coming months will be a doozy.

Are we fortunate or cursed to be witnessing the most disturbing times of recent memory? I fear for our future, as it may only be sustained after a period of great national pain. And which party brought this to bear? They intend to win at any cost. I hope we are as prepared.

I need some advice.

Very recently, I started getting ads all over the place when I am in DU. It happened shortly after an upgrade from Apple. The ads are on the top, bottom, left, and right on the page and partially inserted in the text itself. I asked if anybody else was experiencing this, and was told to become a star member, which I did to no avail. The ads are an intrusion and I object to having to maneuver the page around to hide the ads.

What’s the deal? Is it only me? Is there a way to cut out the bombardment of meaningless ads that aggravate me rather than stimulate me to buy?

Is it just my computer?

As of the latest Apple upgrade, advertisements are popping up in DU. Since I am a music freak, I also have Bluetooth music playing while I scan DU. Now, when the ads pop up, it cuts out the music as well.

I never had ads appear before. Is this a DU directive? Are all of you experiencing the same thing?

Write your representatives.

I just sent a rather lengthy and not too kind email to Ron Johnson with regard to his pathetic statement in today’s Milwaukee Journal - “I think personally the greatest threat to our democracy right now is literally this effort to sabotage a new president.” What rubbish! I reminded Mr Johnson of the eight years of relentless hammering of Obama by Republicans. I reminded him of Moscow Mitch’s statement on day one of Obama’s presidency to make Obama a one term president. We all know how well that worked out.

I encourage all of my DU friends to take the time to write to their representatives. Bitching here relieves some tension but we’re preaching to the choir. Now, more than ever, we need to let our elected representatives understand how many of us stand in opposition to becoming an autocracy.

Now is the time for all good men...............

Lame Duck Laws upheld by WI Supreme Court

The conservatively stacked WI Supreme Court upheld the partisan lame duck laws limiting Gov. Tony Evers.

Wow! What a surprise!

Republicans are on the move. Are we?

Republicans in Florida are launching a program to get out the Latino vote. Republicans in WI are preparing the most aggressive ground game ever to keep WI red. To date, I’ve not seen any Dem. election planning other than “Impeach the MF”, and that won’t win an election.

Excuse my ignorance, but I haven’t seen our strategy come into play. Republicans have their plans established and are starting to implement them. Each day lost can not be taken back. It’s now or never.

We'd all like to think that ..........

our government exists for the “common good”, and or for the “will of the people.” In our hearts, we believe that while taking our tax dollars, the government will assure safe water and air, safe air travel, safe working conditions, and on and on. But, the reality has proven itself to be quite different.

This belief is much like religion, and I apologize to all of my fellow DUers who have steadfast faith. Many of us want to believe that a form of diety is going to allow us to attain some altered form of everlasting life, whatever that may be, just as we want to believe that our government is looking out for our best interests. We put our heartfelt faith in an unknown entity trusting that we will get the benefit.

But reality is often uncomfortable. In modern society, one could make the assumption that money and all that it can buy, both materially and personally, is the supreme ruler. Money is the faith of many, and has become the downfall of the “common good.”

We are at a crossroad in America. Prayer, to quote George Carlin (not that he was the absolute authority) is at best a 50/50 chance. Action is needed lest we become a satellite of Russia. Pray for our democracy if you wish, or stand up and take action. The country we love demands it.

“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” JFK

A ray of hope???

A musician in one of my bands is a Republican. Most are. I try to keep politics an arm’s length from SRV, but we talked a bit about what’s his name in the Oval Office. I asked him if he would vote for tRump again and he said “God no”. He said that around “conservative” Republicans, he would be an outcast. He believes in much, not all, of Republican ideology, and believes that what’s his name has done some good things, which is more than I could say. As is usually the case with many of us, he grew up in a Republican household, so he’s Republican. As a side note, my father was a die hard Republican, a thought that never crossed my mind.

The point is, he’s in his mid 30s and hopefully represents a newer generation of voters. He likes what the party stands for, but is appalled at the daily dose of BS coming out of tRump and his band of gypsies. (Oh Firestorm, you sly dog - slipping in a band name)

Maybe there’s hope in the younger generation. One can only hope.
