California agrees to proposed execution method

Source: San Jose Mercury

California's death penalty system, dormant for nine years, might soon move slowly toward resuming executions.

As part of a court settlement reached on Tuesday, the state's corrections department agreed to unveil a new execution method by the fall that will be tied to the outcome of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling expected sometime this month in a challenge to Oklahoma's lethal injection protocol.

While California is still far from executing one of the 750 condemned killers on death row, the development marks movement on the issue for the first time in years. There are at least 17 inmates on death row who have exhausted their legal appeals and would be eligible for execution dates.

Bernie Sanders gained 5% from a pre-announcement poll

Announcements that one is running for President (obviously) generally carry a boost; yet The Hill tells us that Bernie Sanders just had a "surge" polling 10% now after polling 5% in March (before he announced his run for President).

This is not surprising, given that the media failed in their quest to make Elizabeth Warren to run so they could pretend Hillary was in deep trouble. They have to pretend to love someone other than Hillary, because Clinton Derangement Syndrome lives.

Good luck.

Widower files lawsuit after wife's casket surfaces during flood

Source: KHOU

HOUSTON - One week after flood waters lifted the coffin of a Houston woman from an historic African American cemetery, a widower has filed suit demanding better cooperation from the church and the funeral home to put his re-lived nightmare to rest.

A coffin containing the remains of Carolyn Joyce Fobbs-Lee rose to the surface last Tuesday morning at Riceville Cemetery along Keegans Bayou in southwest Houston. The flood carried the coffin about 50 yards before it came to rest on a concrete hiking and biking trail next to a guardrail along the bayou.

Richard Lee says he got a call last Tuesday from a deacon from Riceville Mt. Olive Baptist Church that his wife's casket had surfaced and asked him to come to the cemetery to identify her. Fobbs-Lee was two weeks shy of her 57th birthday when she succumbed to lung cancer and was buried at the cemetery in 2007.

USA Today posts text message of alleged Amherst College rape victim

Sandra Jones (pseudonym) instructs a friend to say to one "ML" that nothing happened between her and the man she had sex with.
Is ML her boyfriend?
Was the male student extremely intoxicated while she was not? That appears to be the information conveyed in the text. Judge yourselves.

Feminist cleared of wrong-doing in Northwestern University

Laura Kipnis wrote an essay condemning the "sexual paranoia" of some feminists and students. Kipnis, a feminist herself, was then condemned by mattress-toting Protester students for causing a "chilling effect" against students' willingness to report rape. http://jezebel.com/feminist-students-protest-feminist-prof-for-writing-abo-1707714321

Today we learn that the charges just failed https://mobile.twitter.com/laurakipnis/status/605032221494374400

University Of San Francisco Becomes First College To Adopt Callisto, A New Rape Reporting System

Source: Huffington Post

The University of San Francisco announced today it will become the first higher education institution to implement Callisto, a new online reporting system for campus sexual assaults.

Callisto, designed by the nonprofit organization Sexual Health Innovations, is a third-party online reporting system designed for colleges using input from rape survivors.

The system allows an alleged victim to hold back on submitting their report unless someone else reports the same assailant, or to save their file with a timestamp and come back at a later point to turn in their report. Sexual Health Innovations hopes the system can get more victims to come forward, identify serial perpetrators and mitigate responses by school or law enforcement officials that may exacerbate trauma experienced by a victim
