Bill Clinton has landed a major TV series deal.
The former president and bestselling author James Patterson have selected Showtime to adapt their upcoming thriller, The President Is Missing.The novel, set to be published in 2018, tells the story of a sitting U.S. president’s mysterious disappearance with the level of detail that only someone who has held the highest office can know.
We’re told the project was hotly sought after by studios and networks, with Clinton and Patterson doing a 16-meeting tour around Hollywood trying to select the right outlet. CBS chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves — who has a long-standing relationship with both Clinton and Patterson (the latter an executive producer on the CBS drama Zoo) — personally helped make the deal.
One surprise about the deal is that novel’s hook was presumed to be perfect for a theatrical film, or perhaps become a limited series. Instead, Showtime is turning The President Is Missing into a full-blown ongoing drama series.

CNN's Gergen: 'Strategic mistake' for Dems to have Sanders debate healthcare
CNN's David Gergen warned Democrats that “it's a strategic mistake” to have Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) participate in a debate against Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.) on Monday night before a national TV audience.
“If the Democrats make this a debate between single-payer and the Republican Graham/Cassidy bill, they will very likely lose that debate," said Gergen, a former adviser to Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
CNN announced Thursday that it will host a town hall-style debate Monday night where senators from both sides of the aisle will face off over the new ObamaCare repeal bill.
The debate will pit Cassidy and Graham, the sponsors of the bill, against Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).

Senate committee to hear @CoryBooker bill to protect Mueller from firing

One bill, sponsored by Sens. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., and Chris Coons, D-Del., would allow a special counsel who is fired to challenge that dismissal in federal court. A panel of judges would have to review the challenge within 14 days.
Another bill, by Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Cory Booker, D-N.J., would require a judicial review to remove a special counsel from office. The attorney general would have to petition a federal court and establish that there was a "good cause" for the firing, such as misconduct, incapacity or conflict of interest.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a hearing on the bills for Tuesday

Kris Kobach Defends Using A Private Email For Government Business - surprise
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R) is defending using a personal email account to conduct business as the vice chair of a commission convened by President Donald Trump to investigate voter fraud, continuing a trend of shielding his communications from public view.
In a statement provided to ProPublica ― which first reported Kobach’s use of private email ― last Friday, Kobach defended his practice, saying he was serving on the voter fraud probe not in his official capacity as Kansas secretary of state, but as a private citizen. Kobach told ProPublica that using his official email would be a “waste of state resources.”

Did Democrats jump the gun with single-payer splash?

Yet some Democrats wish more attention had been paid to protecting the Affordable Care Act before some of the party's biggest names turned to single payer.
It's also a reminder that in Washington you can never underestimate the power of a president, even if they don't always win. President Donald Trump wanted one last shot at repealing Obamacare, and Democrats are now struggling to preserve a victory they thought they'd already secured.
“I thought that anyone who believed that you should take your eye off the ball before Sept. 30 wasn’t being smart,” said Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), who does not support single-payer. “So it doesn’t surprise me that this is coming back.”
Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.) acknowledged that “maybe” the single-payer rollout had been premature, recalling a Methodist minister who once advised him as governor that “the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.”
“In this case the main thing is stabilizing the [Obamacare] exchanges, so people in every state, every county, can have better health insurance at a better cost,” said Carper, who has not signed on to Sanders’ bill. “That’s what we should be about right now.”
Sanders' single-payer plan drew support from no fewer than five fellow potential challengers to Trump in 2020. Liberal activists crowed that any Democrat who wants the party's next presidential nod would have to support a path to universal health care.

Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) were crafting their latest version of a repeal measure “even as Bernie was working on his press conference” on single payer, Durbin added, "so it’s been around a while.”
Though no Democratic senator faulted single payer’s supporters, some in the party lamented the choice to unveil single payer before the GOP reached its deadline to repeal Obamacare with a simple majority vote. Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) are working hard to lock down Republican support for repeal, and they're close. A climactic vote could come next week, as the clock runs out on any hope of getting rid of Obamacare.
“Doing it when he did it was a gift to the repealers,” one Democratic strategist said of Sanders’ single-payer push. “It took focus off them and put it on us at an unhelpful time.”
One Senate Democratic aide wondered whether the single-payer splash could have waited until next month, when the GOP's window to repeal Obamacare with 50 votes will have closed.
“It’s the timing that’s the problem,” the aide said. “If this was introduced Oct. 1, that’d be one thing, but this is almost perfectly timed to make it harder to defend the ACA.”
“We should be trying to save the most progressive health care overhaul in decades, because it’s really at risk. But instead, they’re riling up the base over single payer, making the perfect the enemy of the good at the worst possible moment,” the person added.
A liberal activist whose group supports single-payer health care sounded a similar note, saying that the timing of Sanders’ rollout had handed “Republicans a lot of space” to quietly twist arms on the Cassidy-Graham repeal plan.

We all know by now that millennial progressives who dominate and run the online resources that have become living history on the Internet resent Clinton and adore Bernie Sanders. So much so that they ignore and silence her supporters and, most recently, agitate to silence her when she wrote a book about being first female national candidate for the Democratic ticket.
But did you know there's an effort underway to actually erase her online?
Wikipedia has scheduled Hillary Clinton pages for deletion, which means keeping no past or current copies.
Hillary Clinton's stunningly long list of endorsement page is scheduled for deletion.
Bernie Sanders, her opponent in the primary who lost to her and never made it onto a national ticket, historic or otherwise, didnt have his list of endorsements scheduled for deletion
Bernie's page has been added for deletion only today, in response to the allegation that Clinton's was being unfairly targeted. No other politicians' pages of endorsements has been withdrawn, prior to this.
Note that deleting Bernie's page is not meaningful as his list of endorsements was extremely weak, and nowhere near as stunning and remarkable as Clinton's

Seems like the rationales for deletion are
a) twitter is not reliable and
b) endorsements don't matter.
I don't know enough about wikipedia's policy on twitter to comment about a), though I would hope they do the same for other entries. b) seems absolutely absurd and irrelevant.
