Madam President

Rather than focus on a primary that is over... or polls that are months away from the primary and will change as they always do, I'd rather think about hearing "Madam President" for the first time in my life, as I will soon.

Did you know the Kochs are putting 10s of millions into a 3rd party run to defeat Trump? They're backing a libertarian. Can't recall his name offhand.

Trump will be an entertaining circus act. The media will milk the hell out of all the drama. But the demographics will quietly decide the election, and we'll have a female president. Only took 96 years after getting the right to vote. : p

Progress rolls onward.

Has anyone else been looking for forums that are more supportive of democrats?

I'm not talking about making a goodbye cruel world sort of post... I just mean that I'm starting to feel like there is probably another forum where people can be supportive of democrats without being attacked, and maybe I should find it. Anyone share this feeling?

So when do the bans begin on faux democrats here?

The people who claim to be democrats but, suspiciously, have nothing good to say about Hillary (the clear nominee) and seem to, rather excitedly, latch on to talking points spun out by Fox News or other extremist websites and bloggers, have gotten a free pass for a looong time here. So, when does the banning start? This is an important election and it would be nice to have real democrats to discuss issues with here without the dirty pond filled with faux democrats mucking up the water.

The primary is over. All rational people realize this.

Let's move on.

But but realmirage is a newbie.. Yeah but I'm supporting the torch bearer for the only party standing between America and Frankentrump. That's more than a lot of people are doing who have been here longer, and I'm the kind of person this website was built for. Someone who supports democrats.

HRC won CA and NJ in '08, still lost, didn't hurt Obama in the General. BS voters be aware

The many posts in GDP insisting BS has a chance compels me, human to human, to warn them that there's a brick wall ahead that HRC voters ran into 8 years ago. Hillary won California and NJ, the two biggest remaining contests (she won CA by 8 points), and the Supers didn't switch to Hillary (who was only down by 60 or so delegates) because of momentum. They didn't see it as a sign of Obama weakness, and then panic and give it to Hillary so we could beat McCain. The PUMAs were in full effect, insisting Obama would lose the general and it would be all his fault, the DNC's, fault.. But when reality had its say, Obama won the primary, and the general.

Here's what history tells us- Oregon will be won by Bernie (as Obama did in 08), but Hillary will win CA and NJ as she did in 08. Even if Hillary loses CA, which would be very surprising and unexpected, it wouldn't change the outcome of the primary, or even the general election.

Let's say Bernie wins CA with 60% of the vote. Hillary will still probably win NJ by a decent margin (which has 142 delegates). Let's do the math on this.

Bernie 60% CA win means he cuts into Hillary's lead by about 100 delegates
HRC 60% NJ win gives her about 30 more pledged delegates than BS.

That's a difference of 70 delegates. Bernie cuts into Hillary's' lead by 70 pledged delegates.

She's currently ahead by almost 300.

Remember that these are generous numbers for Bernie. Hillary is currently ahead of Bernie in CA by 10 points. One poll even has her ahead by 20 points (not sure I trust that number, but nevertheless...). This means Bernie will probably, at best, get within a few points of Hillary, splitting the delegates evenly.

Also, a few days ago the BS campaign said it's probably not going to spend more on TV ads in California, or produce new ones, which means they've pretty much surrendered. http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/bernie-sanders-hobbled-heading-golden-state

But remember even if Bernie wins CA 60%, and even if he won NJ 60%, he'd still be down by about 160 delegates.

When Hillary dropped out in 08 she was only down by about 60 delegates, and had just won the 2 biggest remaining contests.

Just a little reminder that it's good to have hope, but don't lose complete touch with reality. It can be painful. Trust me. I know.

Hillary weak bc of BS primary win in W VA? Uh, no

I don't recall anyone saying Obama was weak and couldn't win the general when Hillary was ahead in the popular vote and only 60 delegates behind when she dropped out. She was winning states right up to the end, and yet Obama went on to win the general with no problem.

These articles about Hillary being weak are probably just the media being the media, trying to create dramatic story lines for click bait. I really wish we had journalists who were worth a shit online.

And btw, it's obvious the republicans in wva fucked with our election. The exit polls prove it. I bet BS supporters aren't crying about this one being rigged. But who cares anyway.

Obama explains why Bernie's approach failed, and will continue to fail

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/05/heres-obamas-best-argument-against-the-left.html

There are so many good arguments in this article. Just one:

Obama: "If you think that the only way forward is to be as uncompromising as possible, you will feel good about yourself, you will enjoy a certain moral purity, but you’re not going to get what you want. And if you don’t get what you want long enough, you will eventually think the whole system is rigged. And that will lead to more cynicism, and less participation, and a downward spiral of more injustice and more anger and more despair. And that's never been the source of our progress. That's how we cheat ourselves of progress."

Hillary given a gift by rabid BS fanatics in Cali

I predict that California will swing against BS after what happened in L.A.

Not only is it the final nail in the coffin, but his image is permanently and irreversibly damaged. No VP, no nothing. He needs to go back where he came from right after he concedes.

Thanks Bernie Bros in Cali, you're Hillary's best ally

I will never, ever vote for Sanders, even if a miracle made him the nom

After what happened here

The camapaign is now something that I want nothing to do with ever, for any reason, and I must say I am so glad that Hillary has beaten him, and it will be a good day when I'm watching him concede, and then pack up and go back to Vermont, never to run for pres again.
