If Ben Cardin decides to retire from the US Senate in 2024, The person that is likely to take Cardin’s US Senate seat is US Representative John Sarbanes of MD-3cd. John Sarbanes is the son of former 5 term MD US Senator Paul Sarbanes. MD-3cd was represented by Paul Sarbanes,Barbara Mikulski,and Ben Cardin before they became US Senator. Sarbanes has been in the US House since 2007. Only 2 MD Democratic US House members has more experience than John Sarbanes. Steny Hoyer and Dutch Ruppersberger but both of them are over 75 years old.
If Ben Cardin decides to retire from the US Senate in 2030, The person that is likely to take Cardin’s US Senate seat is Governor Wes Moore. In 2030, Wes Moore is going to complete his second and final term as Governor. The next elected office Moore can run for is President of the United States but Moore will need foreign policy experience. Getting elected to the US Senate a serving 1 term will make Wes Moore a strong President. If Wes Moore does not get elected President or Vice President, he will have a long US Senate career ahead. Wes Moore will be 52 years old when he gets elected to the US Senate in 2030. If Moore serves in the US Senate for 4 terms, he will be 76 years old, Moore can serve two more terms before his 90th birthday.
