At first I bought three online well 18 my computer tech department purchased them with my Visa card for boys and i we already have received those by mail. Yesterday we picked up several more because well 18 significant other wants to go along so she can have my spot with 18-19 at arena.

So now 16 my young kiddo guitar slinger who has become family to us all wants to go as well and so I picked up tickets for our daughter the middle child her spouse and for 16 her mom and i.

She is sweet kid she so reminds me of Mick Michelle our middle daughter at that age I met her at sons high school guitar class jamming with the kids before thanksgiving break. I told them yesterday that your mother Elizabeth and I saw G&R when she was pregnant with you Michelle.

So I laid down few rules no crowding me out if I meet someone the boys started laughing who would wanna date a scrawny ass guy built like a slim Jim with a long ass goatee.

I had to argue my point I replied hey I have all my hair all my teeth I cook clean do laundry seriously fellas you remember your mom , saying stop with the Clorox when cleaning the bathrooms Uncle Sam taught me how to GI a latrine I’m into personal hygiene as well.

Oh yea and I’m gainfully employed as teamster I make huge coin and I’m sitting on 30+ defined pension and an annuity.

Truth is I joke and if Liz was still around I’d pushed her into the arena in her wheelchair and we would have enjoyed this G&R now rocking for those of us close to social security eligibility. I’d probably told my wife ok time to go they’re coming back out to do encore we gotta go and beat traffic and please remind me to clean my cpap mask before bed.

Big Lebowski 25th anniversary today

Combat vets and active shooter training, the nice lady from H&R definitely has PTSD now.

Humor so yesterday after shift we had a mandatory active shooter training class all the yard jockeys and rail head drivers hey were union we were on time half for it. So I work with several OIF OEF vets and even a Vietnam marine vet who won’t retire take his union pension I get why cuz he’s alone he lost his wife 8 years ago and work is his social life.

So a lot of vets are some of the most sarcastic individuals you’ll ever meet. Especially combat vets I’m lucky 84-87 all peace time.

So H&R gets sexual harassment training out the way and wow it went better than expected we had adult action no joking no remarks. Then it went sideways starting the active shooter education so this one guy vet who I nicknamed Travis Bickle who was a generator repair guy who it seems had waged war against the Taliban from Bagram air base starts giving his advice on you need to do this when under attack yea it was going there going down hill fast.

So the Vietnam marine vet very close friend said to me here we go I said yea Farmer put on flack jacket and Kevlar farmer looks at me smiled farmer he just wanted get out work and go drink at the bar. Yet Travis Bickle keeps going on and on about how dangerous Bagram was.

So great guy who I love he served with the Herd the 173rd Airborne in Afghanistan in constant contact I guess the Herds A.O. with hillbilly Taliban was really bad spot . And he is real quiet mellow dude he goes and says to Travis Bickle dude be quiet let her give training and I know it was hell for you on that nice big safe airbase because the sheer terror that the Pizza Hut ran out of anchovies now shut up.

Me I’m easily amused I laughed so hard at what my friend said I had tears in my eyes yep sarcasm especially combat vets.

Amp shopping for 16 yesterday Big Lebowski Sunday.

Kiddo has been jamming with us since November i even have had her take home a 5 watt fender champ a clone that a great friend and amp builder put together years ago my wife asked him to build it as surprise as a Christmas gift 2004 I remember cuz 18 was not even two months old this was before we started getting the fantastic choices we have today in low watt tube Amps as when I first met 16 she was using solid state Duncanpup said in my Yoda speak tube you must have child.

For home use we also have several Marshall DSL two one watts and a 5 watt picked them up used off reverb I am a gear head it’s a addiction and they work for us as we sit around dining room table 16-18 and friends and i will jam.

Anyway 16 mom 18 my one son and I were sitting at the bar the other day in the kitchen shooting the breeze cuz she was showing 18 her cake recipe and i was doing stuffed shells store bought and Italian sausages so we all could enjoy a meal together yes we all we’re surrounded by domestic woof mooches it was terrifying .

She mentioned that she will be receiving a huge amount of back child support and she wants to buy her kiddo an amp. 16 loves my champ clone yet it’s only for use not for sale. So yesterday after work I picked up kiddo for her Dunc pup driver education and we hit Guitar center just to research not buy reason I will not spend $ at G.C. Bain capital piss on Mittens Romney ,will find what we like then shop used on reverb.

So we went and amps we played we grabbed Mexi strat and Prs se 245 off the wall single coils and Humbuckers definitely in depth science ass tifical research 16-18 are my single coil players me i prefer the PAF tone.
Amps we tried two black star 5 watt 1-10 and I never knew they have 5 watt twin 2-10 black star that we played.
Vox 4 watt by the way worth it if you want one.
And a 1606 supro which brought memories of my youth my brother and I would jam through the old man’s fender and his supro tell you the simplicity is just one volume and Hi and low side.

I even asked sales guy if we could borrow a boost pedal to explore the 1606 and with boost and the Mexi strat the cleans were beautiful fat and full and with the se 245 tone wise we were in the neighborhood of that little shack outside La grange.

So after our research we bailed to get ice cream that’s only reason Dunc came along loves car rides belly rubs and cheeseburgers and ice cream in guitar center belly rubs. Even from total strangers what a belly rubs whore yes I say you can pet him he’s not a service dog actually ,I’m his service human and Dunc is hilarious he rolls over to get belly rub and he covers his parts with his tail Mr modesty.

So 16 really liked the 2-10 black star we’re sitting outside waiting on our cheeseburgers I love this place it’s like old time drive in yet it was so nice out the weather we did picnic tables.

Looking on reverb not one black star 5 watt twin so with cheeseburgers I ate crow I called G.C. hold the 2-10 black star we will be back in like hour to buy it. $350 used wasn’t gonna buy anything yet we did I told her mom pay me when you get your back child support or kiddo can work it off in helping us paint the family room and dining room this summer.

So after the boys get done with work they’ll pick up kiddo and her new used amp and head home to jam. And tomorrow all four us will be going to see 18 and Dads favorite movie the big Lebowski 25 th anniversary 18 and I joke 15 year old golden is the Dude

Update on Dumble pedal / And email this morning about a Burny super grade RLG for sale.

Other day I posted in my rambles about these iset pedals I ordered 3 different brands two apiece for Easter presents for 18 and 16 idea was okay the three brands play and compare. Sixteen i met in 18 high school guitar class before thanksgiving break and her mom single parent asked if I offer lessons and if so how much.

Yes here at Duncan pup guitar university we offer instructions tuition is zero why we even have a petting zoo of one chocolate lab and two Golden retrievers. Anyway 16 has become a fixture as always around hanging with from going to Gym with us to work out to jamming to grocery shopping with me yesterday fact is she’s been a blessing for the boys and i since we lost their mom.

Why I even expanded the curriculum to Drivers ed instructor for 16 at first we was using my wife’s 2018 Kia it’s automatic then to my Mazda 6 it’s manual she’s doing ok she was hesitant at first about manual I told her it’s good idea to learn. Although I gave the 2018 Kia to our youngest daughter, so 16 and i practice in the 2001 Toyota Corolla my commute to work vehicle or the Mazda.

Iset came last week

Joyo and Tomsline came yesterday the iset we have pushed through in beginning a Marshall 1 watt head twin cabinet meh and peavey 15 watt twin.

Yesterday we pushed all three dumble clones through fender blues reissue a clone 40 watt I should say to clarify that a friend of mine over in Westminister Maryland built for me years ago. I like the 12 Ax7 and the 6L6 tone. Second amp was peavey delta blues and out of all three yes all three opened up the more wattage amps yet the $24 iset is a keeper just the cleans on single coil Strat to the mids.

My first attempt at Dumble years ago was a Zen overdrive their attempt to clone the Howard Dumble tone I still have it so this iset is clone of a zen overdrive 16 decided to choose the iset 18 chose the Tom sline so I ordered two each the kids will have one extra pedal each.

I’ll return the joyo and the joyo were great it’s just to each their own in what they like as for 16 I told her I really don’t use pedals that much as she has seen jamming with us. Yet I’m now helping her build her own pedal board she will find her own sound. I explain to her when I was younger than you were I went from loving single coils to humbuckers.

And a cool guy who worked with my old man took me under his wing started showing me how to manipulate tone out of rolling off the pots then opening it up again for attack from teaching me to use my thumb for softer sound palming the pick then opening up the pots in attack with pick. While back I had guy try sale me Orville by Gibson $2000 sure it has Nitro finish long tenon I look for this in guitar. Does tenon make tonal difference I can’t tell does nitro finish make sonic change if you tell me you can hear the difference in long tenon or nitro to Poly finish then I’ll assume when I fart your gonna be able to tell me what I had for supper.

Long tenon is just my preference in les Paul’s just what I like in les Paul’s long tenons and nitro yet my two Burny dynas have poly and these guitars are tone beast . I told the guy with the Orville by Gibson we talked through text I’ll go $1200 max he was offended I sent him Japan dealer same guitar $1300 free shipping.

Yet Burny super grades to me I’m fond of them .I have two both Dyna made these super grades are excellent players ,so this guy I’ve dealt with out of Seattle online has a Burny super grade RLG -80 it’s cosmetically a dog chipped buckle rash gonna need fret job yet it’s a kasuga super Grade made guitar. Dyna Burny and Kasuga Burnys if you find one get it and it so beat up he only wants $675 I’m gonna buy it. It’s gonna need new frets and tuners the rosewood gonna need oiled before I put in new frets.

Why because oh well I can and I want it Kasuga Burnys are rare it will be my new project I’ll strip it then take it to a excellent luthier I know to re paint it the Burst and dam right go nitro I’ll fix it up yet I won’t try painting after stripping it tried it once never again. These two are my single coil players and this pedal is definitely worth it for the price fat mids and super clean highs took well to these 1 watt marshals 6v6 and also to this peavey 15 watt El-84 which I bought years ago to do project on never got around to the project yet.

Now that I think on it Liz my wife was right I’m a procrastinator I used to tell her hey I’ll get to it my usual replies over 36.5 years together to any project she wanted done
