RawStory: Big money Trump inaugural donors are fleeing the president and donating to Democrats

According to a report in the Daily Beast, major donors who contributed to Donald Trump’s inauguration not only want no part of the president now, but are also contributing to possible Democratic presidential contenders.

The report starts off by noting, “15 such donors who collectively gave more than $700,000 to Trump’s inaugural committee but who have since contributed to the presidential campaigns of Democratic candidates including Pete Buttigieg, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, Tulsi Gabbard, Amy Klobuchar, Michael Bennet, John Hickenlooper, Eric Swalwell, and John Delaney.”

While many wealthy political campaign contributors are known to give money to both Democrats and Republicans as a way of hedging their bets and keeping the door open for access, many of the Trump donors are rock-ribbed Republicans who have tired of the president.

“It had only been a couple years since [Jennifer] Pritzker, the world’s only known trans billionaire and a Republican mega-donor, had chipped in a whopping $250,000 to President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee,” the report states. “But three months after publicly objecting to the GOP’s stance on trans issues, she gave $1,000 to Democrat Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign.”

Gosh, I sure hope this is true. But it's hard to believe after reading about Bloomberg and Steyer spending gazillions on their own campaigns.

How Not to Embarass Yourself when Visiting Germany

There's a lot of good info here, and I'll admit I stole it from Facebook. The thing is that many/most Americans fail to study up on cultural differences before visiting foreign countries. I know I've made mistakes on my visits, but it's still worth the effort to learn these things. Germans especially, but really all European, have the impression that we Americans are too loud - like we think they're deaf or something. There should be an entire class on the etiquette of drinking and toasting beer with friends in Germany.

If you're so great at parking, why are you getting these angry messages?

Please do not breed!

Not sure if this guy is really a neighbor.

This is so polite, I'm pretty sure a woman wrote it.

Finally, somebody with a little class.

They gave away a condom?!

Please note: I found these on Instagram, none of these angry messages were left on MY car!

Rep. Conor Lamb endorses Joe Biden for president

U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb, a prominent Western Pennsylvania Democrat in a swing district carried by Donald Trump in 2016, endorsed Joe Biden for president Sunday, deeming him capable of unifying the country and sticking up for the working class.

In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Mr. Lamb said he made the decision to endorse the former vice president because he’s focused not only on who can beat Mr. Trump in 2020, but also who can get things done and govern while in the White House. His endorsement is not so much ideological, the freshman congressman from Mt. Lebanon said, as it is on behalf of working-class people in his district who are looking for immediate change.

“You know, they need help now and they can’t afford 10 years of debate over some of these high-flying proposals,” Mr. Lamb said, using language he’s used in the past about the more progressive candidates in the Democratic primary field. “They need someone who can run the ball over the goal line, and I think the vice president can do that.”

According to a Biden campaign official, Mr. Lamb will travel to New Hampshire next weekend to appear as a surrogate for Mr. Biden. No specific details were released.

I think this is a good move for Rep. Conor Lamb and it reflects the opinions of his mostly-moderate District.

About FakeNoose

Hey DU friends! Baby boomer here. I became a voter in 1972 when I turned 21, and I've been voting regularly ever since. For a long time I remained independent - always voting for Dem candidates. However that changed in 2008 when I wanted to vote for Hillary Clinton for President. But I live in Pennsylvania where we have closed elections, and my only chance to vote for Hillary was in the Dem primary. So I joined the Democratic Party in 2008, voted for Hillary, and I've never looked back. Barack Obama won the primary in Pennsylvania, as ell as most other states, and I supported him in the general election. It was a different story in 2016 .... You'll never convince me that Chump didn't CHEAT his way into the White House. The worst 4 years in the history of our country ensued, 2017 to 2020, and the first few days of 2021. We all lived through it and i don't need to explain it now. My goal is to make sure that Chump NEVER gets elected to ANYTHING again. Not even Dogcatcher of West Palm Beach FL. Whether he goes to prison is not up to me - but he must be CONVICTED of his crimes and PREVENTED from running for office again. Better yet - he should be in prison or six-feet-under. You get me? I love the cooperation, optimism and can-do spirit of Democratic Underground. We're a community of liberal-minded Americans and we know how to share our stories constructively and pro-actively. Let's all pitch in and get this job done. There has never been a more important election that right now, this year. Democrats everywhere MUST WIN. Joe Biden must win FOUR MORE YEARS!
