"As cases explode, China's low COVID death toll convinces no one"

"As cases explode, China’s low COVID death toll convinces no one"

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2022/12/24/asia-pacific/china-covid-death-statistics/

A country trying to mourn its dead from an explosive COVID-19 outbreak is grappling with a system unprepared for the surge in fatalities. Two weeks after China abruptly abandoned its “zero-COVID” policy, cases have soared in cities like Beijing, along with reports of people dying.

But doctors and international health experts say an underestimate of the toll risks fueling public complacency about the risks of the virus. Chinese commentators and the public have widely criticized the death toll, saying it obfuscates the real picture and hurts the government’s credibility.

David Bowie and Bing Crosby 1976 Christmas

There are no "classics for Christmas" in my life without including "Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy" as one of them.

Man, I have tears in my eyes watching Zelenskyy and

Pelosi, Harris, members of Congress, etc.

I literally have tears in my eyes. How cool is this!

Who remembers this Christmas classic from the 60s?

I always loved how they danced. I dance like that when alone in my kitchen...fun!

6.4 earthquake in Humbolt County, CA

https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/northern-california-earthquake-humboldt-county/index.html

At least two people are dead after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake impacted Northern California’s Eureka area early Tuesday, according to local officials. Thousands remain without power, and there are reports of damaged roads and homes.

The quake, recorded at 2:34 a.m. PT, was centered in the Pacific just off the coast, about 7.5 miles from the Humboldt County city of Ferndale, the survey said.

Local authorities have warned residents to be ready for aftershocks as damage assessments continue. There is no current tsunami threat associated with the quake, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

I personally believe tRump will drop dead just to vex me.

I expect him to die and not suffer a day of his already too long life in prison because he is such a spiteful asshole and he wants to spite me. I want to visibly watch him rot more than anything else on this planet so of course it will not happen...I am the unluckiest person on Earth and he is apparently the luckiest.

He will croak the minute anyone finds him guilty in the DOJ. I will dance at his funeral and on his grave so that will have to suffice I suppose.

Eggs are in short supply and prices soar...

https://www.10news.com/news/local-news/egg-shortages-prices-rising-because-of-bird-flu

Has anyone else noticed how difficult it is to find eggs, especially a dozen, at a reasonable price these days? I went to Trader Joe's and the shelves were empty and when I went to Sprout's they were a lot more expensive than just 1 month ago. I went back the next day and found the same thing and asked the staff what was going on. Supposedly there is an egg shortage but not a chicken shortage, I was told. Good thing I only use them for baking.

Has anyone watched Pelosi's documentary by her daughter yet?

It is called Pelosi In The House and was documented by her filmmaker daughter. It has been promoted on several MSNBC shows this past week. It is on HBO and HBO Max. I watched it and was very, very impressed but the sound of tRump's voice makes me want to puke, as usual. I am so proud of the Dems for making her Speaker. I am also so glad that my last costume for Halloween (pre-Covid) I was Nancy in the signature red coat, brown bobbed hair and sunglasses. My very Blue neighborhood had a ton of little RBGs running all over the streets the previous Halloween so most people knew who I was, especially when I did the "extended flat hand clapping" that Nancy did to tRump after his lying SOTU speech. I even put my atheistic judgments aside when she went to visit the Pope and talks about praying and being a Catholic. I wish she did punch tRump in the face...I have wanted to do that for over 6 years and I am a 5'1" pacifist. I want to punch my TV when I hear his voice (like nails on a chalkboard) and almost did again while watching this film. I don't know how she controlled herself.

"MOVIE INFO
In her 14th documentary film for HBO, acclaimed documentarian Alexandra Pelosi offers a candid, behind-the-scenes chronicle of the life of her mother and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, through her career milestones leading up to the inauguration of President Joseph Biden in January 2021. Filmed in a cinéma vérité style over the course of three decades, PELOSI IN THE HOUSE provides a unique, longitudinal window into the life of a longstanding Democratic politician and history in the making."

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
