Nancy Pelosi's post-election press conference message: WE WILL FOCUS ON THE MIDDLE CLASS ISSUES.

Gotta say, it's good. She says Dems will deliver for the American people on the middle class bread and butter issues.

She is CORRECT and SPOT ON. See this:

If Dems want to HOLD and EXPAND their House majority AND re-take the Senate they must:

* FOCUS LIKE HELL ON HEALTHCARE HEALTHCARE HEALTHCARE as PROMISED!
* JOBS JOBS JOBS
* INFRASTRUCTURE
* EDUCATION INCLUDING REDUCING STUDENT DEBT
* MIDDLE CLASS TAX RELIEF
* CLIMATE CHANGE
* THE OPIOID CRISIS
* SMART AND FAIR COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM: DACA, SMART BORDER SECURITY, PATH TO CITZENSHIP

As to the dreams about impeaching Trump, it will not happen unless there is overwhelming evidence of actual crimes while IN office. We can not and MUST not waste TONS of time and energy and money and oxygen on pissing into the wind.
YOU NEED 2/3 of the Senate to convict and remove a sitting president. Not gonna happen without OVERWHELMING crimes while he is IN office. It is STUPID to force such an issue and then LOSE. Just like the R's with Clinton. It made his poll numbers go UP.

Better to BUILD THE PARTY EVERYWHERE IN ALL 50 STATES, and BEAT HIM and ALL REPUKES in 2020.

Let the nutjob be the nutjob he is. We now have a strong HOUSE buffer, and the Orange Idiot will HANG HIMSELF with the people in the cities and suburbs we need to win in 2020.

The people want the bread and butter kitchen table issues addressed. We have to show that we are the unabashed CHAMPIONS OF THE MIDDLE CLASS and force that narrative. Period!

Maine is BLUE. Trifecta!

Governor, State House, State Senate. ALL US! Now we need to deliver. Our new first-ever woman governor, Janet Mills (the current Atty. General), is enacting Medicaid Expansion (passed last year by the people at referendum). Next, the opioid crisis. And I just told her sister, a facebook friend, that she and Dems need to focus like crazy on the kitchen table issues: jobs, healthcare, wages, lower property taxes, etc.

In the House we need to SET THE AGENDA and focus on HEALTHCARE! JOBS! INFRASTRUCTURE! EDUCATION!

We need to set the PEOPLE'S AGENDA! They elected us to focus on HEALTHCARE, JOBS, INFRASTRUCTURE, and EDUCATION. We need to craft good legislation to present on these key issues. We need to show Americans that WE are the PARTY OF THE PEOPLE.

Also, we need to take away the immigration wedge issue by forwarding a comprehensive immigration reform package with border security and a path to citizenship.

SET THE AGENDA! SET THE NARRATIVE! If R's and Trump don't cooperate, then USE IT AGAINST THEM BIGTIME!!

We can't just go after Trump for the next two years, though we must be a check and balance and investigat IF Mueller has real evidence of things.

We must show Americans were are fighting for THEM on the issues THEY care about as they sit at their kitchen tables.

All in all a GOOD night for Dems! We have THE HOUSE!!! And won MANY other important races!

Yes, some disappointments. What's the lesson? VOTE! Still TOO MANY PEOPLE NOT VOTING.

But look, the R's lost the US House, a number of governorships including that rotten thing Scott Walker in Wisconsin, and many legislative seats and local races.

In my state of Maine, state government is now ALL BLUE!

The national US House popular vote is Dems by 7 to 9 points.

*** Now remember, this was the worst US Senate map for Democrats in many decades with SO many seats to defend in red areas. Everyone knows we were never gonna regain the Senate this cycle and the R's would probably even peel off some seats. And yes, Trump is effective in ginning up his red hat base with his rants about non-existent invasions.

But this election was nothing for R's to be cheering about. There is now a serious check and balance on the unhinged looney toon who is Trump.

Dems did great in WI, MI, and PA, key states going into 2020.

LOTS of good news. But the main lesson is EVERYONE needs to VOTE. Still too many of OUR voters staying at home. It is BULLSHIT.

Just returned from a spaghetti dinner and rally for our Dems. Packed school cafeteria. Good event.

In Maine. Our governor candidate Janet Mills, congressional candidate Jared Golden, and local state senate and state rep candidates, former governor and congressman, etc. Great event. People are PUMPED! Hundreds of people. We're working it hard here in Maine.

One thing that we have to say about "Hope."

I do understand that when people talk about "hope" they really mean "optimism." Fine. But we also have to move the discussion well beyond "hope." We have to talk about TANGIBLES and RESULTS.

People are tired of just voting for "hope." They want RESULTS. They want higher wages. They want healthcare. They want higher paying jobs. They want their roads and bridges fixed, and broadband internet everywhere. They want lower tax burdens for the middle class. They want retirement security. They want homes, vehicles, to send their kids to college, and to take a vacation every year. They want good, effective, decent, smart government at all levels, and good local services starting with good schools for their kids. They want something done about the opioid crisis. They want to go to college without being saddled with decades of debt. They want safety. They want to be heard and not ignored.

These are things people want, need, and deserve as citizens. We need to be telling people just how we are going to make sure they actually have these things. They are sick and tired of "hoping" for them. We have lost in the past in part because we forgot how to talk about being the champions of the working middle class. Gotta get back to it.
