I think Trump's trying to spin his illness into a "see I told you it's not that bad" moment

to come off as a strong man, and also so people will believe his bullshit and go out with a mask. He desperately wants to heat up the economy and is lying to the public about how dangerous this is. Too bad his followers aren't going to have the level of care they are paying for him.

Somehow I got on a GOP list, and am now getting at least one text per hour begging for money

Trump and the GOP must be desperate. Just wish I could figure out how to get rid of these beggars. They keep changing the numbers so you can't blacklist and there's no way to opt-out.

Why does CNN bother to cover dRumpf for his BS on Labor Day?!

As soon as he started talking he spewed his verbal diarrhea about how HE had the biggest drop in unemployment EVER and then launched into an attack on Biden saying that Obama and Biden took a very long time to get the unemployment down... lie lie lie lie.....

Hundreds protest Michigan governor's social distancing order

Source: Associated Press

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Hundreds of flag-waving, honking protesters drove past the Michigan Capitol on Wednesday to show their displeasure with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s orders to keep people at home and businesses locked during the coronavirus outbreak.

As snow fell, others got out of their vehicles and raised signs, one of which read, “Gov. Whitmer We Are Not Prisoners.” Another said, “Michigander Against Gretchens Abuses.”

Hours later, Whitmer shot back, telling reporters that the rally put health at risk.

The “Operation Gridlock” protest was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition. The ripples were widely felt: Traffic was barely moving for miles in some areas of Lansing.

Whitmer said she was “really disappointed” to see protesters close together without masks.

I guess these MAGAts should all be given a Darwin award..

The Guardian - comment is free, but moderators are biased.

I posted my opinion about Russian interference with Bernie's campaign in https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/feb/23/after-bernie-sanders-landslide-nevada-win-its-time-for-democrats-to-unite-behind-him. It got deleted. I carefully reworded it and it got deleted again by a moderator. One more try, and it went poof! I then copied the URL from the Guardian article about the subject and pasted it in with a question to the mods about why their own reporting wasn't relevant. This too went away and was replaced by all three of my original posts. I think they finally got the point. Whoever is controlling this comment section is either a Bernie fan or a Russian.

Trump impeachment: Republican Susan Collins vows to vote for acquittal

Source: The Guardian

Donald Trump moved a step closer to winning perfect Republican support on Tuesday in his quest for impeachment acquittal, gaining a vow from senator Susan Collins of Maine to vote to acquit on both articles of impeachment.

Before a final vote scheduled for Wednesday afternoon on whether to convict Trump, senators began a round of speeches on how they think the third presidential impeachment trial in US history should end.

Guardian live streaming parliament saying goodbye to John Bercow the speaker

As I take it, Boris pushed him out in another attempt to force an October election. As each person speaks in turn to wish him well, there are also a lot of harsh words being hurled at tRump as a person who has instigated a lot of Johnson's nationalistic policies. I think they have the same boss at the Kremlin.

Trump reverses stance and says Mueller should not testify

Donald Trump has reversed his earlier position on whether special counsel Robert Mueller should be allowed to testify before a Congressional committee about his 448-page report into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Last night, Trump tweeted “Bob Mueller should not testify,” backing away from an earlier claim that he would support William Barr’s decision on whether Mueller should testify. The attorney general has said it would be fine if he did.

US deploys aircraft carrier and bombers after 'troubling indications' from Iran

The US is sending an aircraft carrier and a bomber task force to the Middle East in response to a “number of troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” from Iran, the national security advisor John Bolton has said.

It was unclear on Sunday night what Iranian actions Bolton was referring to. There have been no recent incidents in the Persian Gulf where US and Iranian navies are routinely in close proximity and the Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group was already bound for the Gulf a month before Bolton made his announcement.

Bolton gave no details of the alleged “troubling and escalatory indications and warnings” from Iran. Mark Dubowitz, the head of the Foundation for the Defence of Democracies who has long supported a tough approach to Iran, argued that Hamas rocket attacks against Israel could have been orchestrated by Iran as part of a campaign against the US and its regional allies.

“Actually, ‘intimidating’ the regime in Iran by promising overwhelming force in response to intel that they may be considering striking US assets or allies is called deterrence and could help dissuade them,” Dubowitz wrote on
