Just got back from April 5th protest in Portland ME

Turn out was very good even though it was raw cold. Speakers were all eloquent and passionate. They even had some one signing the speech for the hearing impaired.

The one thing that was very telling: not one major network was coving this that I could see. No NBC, CBS, FOX, or ABC. No cable news either. I heard other people in the crowd make the same observation.

College enrollment is falling at a 'concerning' rate, new data reveals

As a parent with a kid in college, I can tell you that it is mostly a lack of financial support that makes it impossible for these kids to justify going to college. Here's what they do: 1) there are caps on the borrowing amount that are way to low to help on all federal student loans that are available. 2) Even if the student has been living independently on their own, and not claimed on their parents tax forms, they are required to meet a high standard of credit rating in order to qualify for a loan without a cosigner. This forces the parent to mortgage their future as cosigner, because no good parent would deny their child a future. THIS IS FUCKING EXTORTION by the federal government and it is WRONG! I am retired an now have about 20,000 in private student loan debt to deal with. We need the government to make our federally chartered universities fully funded so kid s can get a higher education to allow the US to compete in the global economy. It will never happen otherwise.

Trump buzz at the local flea

I went to the flea market this morning where a lot of the vendors are trump humpers. Heard them talking about how all the stars that supported Kamala were somehow coerced into doing so "it will all come out in time...", one said. These people are so fucking delusional. It won't be until they have no heath insurance, and no social security because Leon decided you shouldn't have any money so they can suspend taxes for the wealthy. They want serfdom, and people who will tend the garden, cook the food, and chauffeur the limo all for the privilege of eating something for one more day. Quality of life is not a consideration for these fucking Darwinist pigs.

At 68, if an uprising does happen, and we have a justified civil war, I will be more than happy to stand on the front lines even if I am to one of the first to go. It will be better than the alternative.
