It’s 154 episodes each 21/2-3hrs long without commercials and tells the story of Sultan Abdulhamid II who, if the series is historically accurate, was a great leader who was fighting to preserve the resources, mainly oil, from the West who set it’s sights on breaking up and colonizing the fading Ottoman Empire. It is riveting and aggravating to watch because all his efforts are undermined by disinformation fed to the newspapers by Western nations and betrayals by government officials. It’s the same old story, plant a fake story and watch the populace immediately believe it and take to the streets in rebellion. At least back then they didn’t know any better and only had newspapers to inform them but just like today, the media isn’t interested in the truth as spreading lies and disinformation is much more profitable.
