Edward, the mad shirt grinder

I literally have not thought about this song in decades. I was looking at the photography contest submissions here on du and there was a picture of a cat titled "Edward". "Edward the mad shirt grinder" immediately popped into my mind for some reason.

Here's a Gandhi quote

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.”

I read this quote right after the 2016 election and it eased my despair.

I think we are about to see the end, and the fall of Trump and his minions.

Voted this afternoon in Franklin county

There was a long line, but it moved quickly. We were in line at 1:45, into the building at 2:15 and out the door at 2:30.

Lost on the frontline...

"Hundreds of US healthcare workers have died fighting Covid-19. We count them and investigate why..."

Here's a link to an article in The Guardian. I found it very moving. I was on the frontline in March and April and had some good friends become very ill, thankfully they all recovered. I wish I could say the same for all our patients.

I'm going to bed now, after a relatively peaceful nightshift.

Ohio weekly Covid death toll increases again - August 1st

I've been keeping stats on Covid deaths in Ohio since March, the first week the total deaths were at 25. The worst week was the week ending May 23 with 343 deaths that week. After that week the deaths per week steadily declined.

This is two weeks in a row with big increases. The last three weeks had: 96 deaths, then 165 deaths and this week 218 deaths.
