tulipsandroses's JournalNow is not the time for pearl clutching or getting on your moral high horse
For the 2nd time this week, Ive been annoyed by an MSNBC host lamenting about Dems voting for far right candidates in the primary or candidates running ads, seemingly to promote them. The bet is that the crazy wont win in a general election. They have always played dirty tricks against us. If Dems are not violating the law, or not grossly unethical, quite frankly, I dont care how they go about trying to take down these fascists.
Bill Barr:The justice dept is not an extension of your legal team
How rich.
When did he realize that?
I welcome chump as the 2024 nominee
I think he will be a loser again. I think Desantis is a stronger candidate. Chumplike without the baggage. I think Bob Woodward made a great point this morning, even some chump supporters are tired of the whining about 2020.
Dont get me wrong, I am not saying it would be a blow out win for President Biden. It is still going to be a tough fight.
But what is he going to run on? The 2020 election was stolen? Thats not going to be good enough for swing voters. He is undisciplined, even if his advisors advise him to focus on the economy, he will always shift focus to his childish grievances.
He doesnt get the novelty advantage anymore. His botched response to the pandemic is already on record. Even if he manages to stay on track to focus on the economy, the people that rejected him in 2020 are not going to believe he can fix the economy.
We are in troubling times friends, with or without chump, I dont think things will get better for many years.
Yes there will still be rabid MAGATS that vote for him. He will still get 70 million plus people to vote for him. However, the people that rejected him will do so again. Perhaps even moreso.
In contrast, Desantis will have that new factor. I think it may be easier for him to win over wishy washy voters. The people that rejected chump, are likely to vote for Desantis.
Chump losing will also depend on republicans not being able to steal the election through actions of state Govs and SOS. But that will also be true for Desantis and all future elections.
This is just where we are.
It will take decades to undo this damage. I say give me the weaker candidate for the general election. I believe that its chump.
Remember when they made the Email lady apologize for calling chump folks deplorable?
Seems like an understatement now.
When do Dems start running right to life Ads?
Ads that Dems are Pro Life. Pro protecting children, elderly. Show how Republicans blame mass shootings on mental health but cut funding for mental health. Refuse to allow background checks, red flag laws that might stop the very people they claim are a cause of mass shootings.
I work in mental health so I know that the vast majority of people with mental health issues are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators. This is a convenient scapegoat for them to hide behind.
I would just really like to see us on offense instead of perpetually being on defense.

Billions Have Been Spent on School Safety. But Is It Working?
This is just sickening. Classroom tourniquets???
Instead of doing the right thing. Banning assault weapons. We spend billions to turn classrooms into a scene from a battlefield??
Snip
Now schools can buy 300-pound ballistic whiteboards ($2,900 each); classroom-specific tourniquets; facial-recognition software; high-tech, armored classroom doors (at $4,000 each); guns that fire balls packed with pepper mixtures (which are most commonly used by U.S. troops in combat zones); and even an elaborate door-security and weapons-detection system, which includes a 2,500 pound aluminum-framed vestibule (all for $500,000 per system).

The murders continue after the shooting stops
Today we heard the devastating news of Irma Garcias husband dying of a heart attack. A horrific reminder that the murders continue long after the bullets stop.
Jeremy Richman-died by suicide 7 years after his daughter Amelie was murdered at Sandy Hook.
Austin Eubanks, survived Columbine. Spiraled into addiction within 1 year of surviving that Massacre. He got clean, became a motivational speaker. He died of a heroin overdose in 2019.
Sydney Arielle- survived Parkland. Died by suicide in 2019
Calvin Desir- also survived Parkland. Died by suicide in 2019.
I am sure that there are many more like Mr Garcia,Austin, Sydney, and Calvin.
Deteriorating health, addiction, depression, suicide,PTSD, homelessness, a cycle of violence triggered by the events of the massacre.
Its all so tragic.
Why do people vote Republican?
Aside from white supremacists, gun humpers, religious zealots, fetus protectors, greedy businesses owners and corporations. Seriously, are there any sane and logical people that vote Republican?
And why?
They fight against damn near anything that would benefit every day Americans.
They fight affordable healthcare. They fight against having a livable wage, they fight against any talk of student loan relief, I could go on and on.
Im really befuddled.
What do saneRepublican voters expect when they keep these people in office?
Mass murder of children should be politicized.
Democrats should not shy away from that. Step into it. We can only solve this problem with politics. Our elected so called leaders have the power to stop this madness. As Joe Scarborough mentioned this morning, on 9/11 we did not say, now is not the time to talk about it. We immediately wanted to know how do we prevent this from ever happening again.
Politicians can stop children from reading books that will hurt their feelings
protect girls sports from trans athletes,
but they cannot protect these same children from weapons of mass destruction.
This is politics.
