Best wished for the New Year for al the DU members. Hope for a b=good year for all. Prosperous and healthy.
Call for the execution of Biden should she win?
She now will pardon a career sex criminal and traitor.
I have noticed that I have been letting the camera do the focusing and hoping it is alright.
I'll be getting surgery on my dominant right eye soon. So I have been trying to use my left eye to look through the view finder.
Talk about old dogs and new tricks. I in horizontal mode have to close my right eye to find the damn thing. Vertical isn't as bad. Need to work on my muscle memory to use the left eye.
Happy holy night, from Munich.
I wish all the DU family a wonderful Holiday season adn a prosperous and heathy new year.
Doing the Weinnachten cooking. In germany the big meal is on the 24th, So we ar having some people over. No goose this year and we aren't doing the sausage alternative. I know, what do you expect from imigrants?
I have a small 4.4 kilo french turkey. It has instructions in 4 languages, German, Greek, English and something I can;t identify, not Polish or Turkish. Tomorrow we will have a couple of refugees over for lunch. A nice Chechnia and Kurdish couple. Haven't seen her since just after Covid.
Very low key this year.
Five passengers in a car, 4 children. There are too many good reasons not to have a high speed chase. What's the use of lights and sirens if I can't use them to play TV cop?
The story writing is terrible and the car crashed itself....
Two 10-year-old Wisconsin boys were killed after their father sped away from a traffic stop, was chased and then crashed late Wednesday, the Waukesha County Sheriffs Department said.
"Two other children and the driver, the boy's father, were in critical condition, officials said.
A sheriffs deputy pulled the driver over around 11:49 p.m. for speeding and no plates, and he briefly stopped before speeding away, the sheriffs department said.
There was a pursuit and the vehicle crashed in a town around 11 miles away, the department said."
Today I found why I was having issues with camera focus through my viewfinder. Of course it is my right eye. In the next couple of months I will get the surgery. Probably set both eyes at distance and put up with reading glasses. Right now if I do a lot of reading I'll take my glasses off.
That should be good for the viewfinder since I think on 35mm it is set at or effectively infinity.
I like looking down the old streets of towns.
I needed to make a change in my mailing address. It has to be done by phone or mail.
A while ago I did the mail option because I couldn't get through by phone. (2022) The change wasa made but with a type. I think I sent in a request for correction but had heard nothing. So I tried to call today.
A great experience, once I got the help dest, a 2 minute wait for a real person. She handles my issues quickly and cheerfully and then I asked if she could help my wife adn make sure her data was correct. Done, and done.
A very nice experience.
I have been meaning to try this at a restaurant but it either isn't on the menu or I get dritracted by other offerings. So we had a guest over and I made it my self. Seconds were had by the guest so I'll call it a win.
Some changes after reading a few versions of the recipe. Most were very similarin quanties of pasta, oil, pepper, cheese. The technique used was the difference. Two pan method. Oil and pepper in one pan and heat it until aromatic. Set asside. Put the pasting a in frying pan and start cold, then bring it to a boil until done al dente.
The reasoning is that heating the pepper adds pepper flavor to the whole dish. The pasta in hte frying pan means less water and faster cooking along with more starch in the pasta water, which is easier to get too from the pan vs a deep pot.
Went together fairly easily. Add a little butter and pasta water in the pan iwht oil and pepper, stirr it up and then add pasta with tongs directly from the other pan. Toss untill everything is coated tehn add freshly ground parmasan. Add mor water as needed.
