Im haunted by this South Carolina Republican, Rep. Neal Collins, realizing that the anti-abortion bills he supported are now forcing women and girls to carry nonviable pregnancies at risk of sepsis, death, and loss of the uterus. All these outcomes were inevitable and predicted.

Guest opinion: Yes, Mr. DeSantis, I am woke
News Press via Yahoo News Mr. DeSantis, I am a Black American, a thirty-year Marine veteran and someone still involved in defending this country against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I am woke Mr. DeSantis. The wokeness started in the 1950s after the white landowner of my tenant farming parents informed them that if they chose to vote, they could also find another place to live.
In 2021, you passed restrictive voting laws specifically designed to suppress minority votes after holding up Florida as a model for how to conduct an election.
The wokeness continued as I attended substandard segregated schools in the 50s and 60s with hand me down books from the schools attended by the white students in my county that had history texts with teachings about The War of Northern Aggression and touting happy slaves and benevolent slave-holders.

Democrats Designed the Climate Law to Be a Game Changer. Here's How.
NYTNo Paywall
When the Supreme Court restricted the ability of the Environmental Protection Agency to fight climate change this year, the reason it gave was that Congress had never granted the agency the broad authority to shift America away from burning fossil fuels.
Now it has.
Throughout the landmark climate law, passed this month, is language written specifically to address the Supreme Courts justification for reining in the E.P.A., a ruling that was one of the courts most consequential of the term. The new law amends the Clean Air Act, the countrys bedrock air-quality legislation, to define the carbon dioxide produced by the burning of fossil fuels as an air pollutant.
That language, according to legal experts as well as the Democrats who worked it into the legislation, explicitly gives the E.P.A. the authority to regulate greenhouse gases and to use its power to push the adoption of wind, solar and other renewable energy sources.
The language, we think, makes pretty clear that greenhouse gases are pollutants under the Clean Air Act, said Senator Tom Carper, the Delaware Democrat who led the movement to revise the law. With the new law, he added, there are no ifs, ands or buts that Congress has told federal agencies to tackle carbon dioxide, methane and other heat-trapping emissions from power plants, automobiles and oil wells.

Did Florida's lieutenant governor say 'illegal' Cuban migrants will be sent to Delaware?
Miami Herald via Yahoo NewsFlorida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez a Cuban-American Republican from Miami raised eyebrows among some Cuban Americans over the weekend after appearing to suggest on a conservative AM radio show that Cubans who were in Florida illegally would be bused to Delaware.
In an interview with 1040 AM Actualidad Radio, Nuñez was asked her opinion on the historic number of Cubans coming from the communist island through the southern U.S. border to South Florida, and how it may impact communities in the state. She went on to say, ...Hes [DeSantis] going to send them, very frankly, to the State of Delaware, the state of the President.

College student is slain in a national park by a woman pretending to be a stranded motorist, police
A would-be robber pretending to be a stranded motorist killed a Florida college student who had pulled his own weapon in self-defense during a gunfight in Alabama, authorities said.
Adam Simjee, 22, and his girlfriend, Mikayla Paulus both students at the University of Central Florida were driving through Talladega National Forest near Cheaha State Park when they were flagged down Sunday by suspect Yasmine Hider, the Clay County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
Hider said her car had broken down and when the victims offered their help, she "produced a gun and made the couple walk back into the woods," according to the sheriff.
Simjee then pulled his concealed handgun and wounded Hider "multiple times" before he too was shot and then died at the scene, the sheriff said.
Paulus, who was not wounded in the shootout, called 911 and told authorities there was another woman with Hider. Searchers eventually found the suspects' camp about a half-mile away, where they had been "living off the grid," according to the sheriff's statement.
