Four police officers testified on day one of the House Select Committee hearing into the insurrectionist attack on the US Capitol on January 6. The officers who testified today, and the hundreds of other officers who protected the Capitol, the people in the Capitol and our very democracy, are heroes. Full stop.

Longtime friend and associate Tom Barrack has been indicted for unlawfully acting as a foreign agent for the United Arab Emirates, (UAE) conspiracy, obstructing justice and repeatedly lying to the FBI to cover up his crimes.

Barrack served as the Chairman of the Trump inaugural committee, which is also under investigation for possible financial crimes.

The 46-page indictment paints a disturbing picture of Barrack being directed by his Emirati handlers from the UAE national security and military agencies to push UAEs priorities and policies in the United States.

The indictment related that the Emirati officials would tell Barrack to "praise" certain UAE officials and policies and Barrack would dutifully go on national TV and do exactly as he was directed.

A DC Federal Court Judge, Randy Moss, gave an inexplicably lenient sentence to defendant Paul Hodgkins after he pleaded guilty to obstructing a congressional proceeding by trying to stop the certification of the presidential election results. The applicable sentencing guideline range was 15 to 21 months, yet Judge Moss sentenced Hodgkins to only 8 months in prison. What are the pros and cons to the way the Hodgkins case finished up and what is the potential impact of the lenient sentence on the more than 500 insurrection cases currently pending trial? In the new book by Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker, "I Alone Can Fix It", the authors reveal that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Mark Milley put plans in place to defeat any attempt by Donald Trump to unlawfully retain power after losing the presidential election.

All military members are taught that lawful orders must be obeyed and unlawful orders must be disobeyed. Gen. Milley was honoring his oath of office and allegiance to the Constitution by preparing to defeat any attempt at an illegal coup.

Here is a discussion of the importance of our government officials being guided by their responsibility to the Constitution, particularly as Trump and many Republicans continue to push The Big Lie on the American people.

Former President Donald Trump gave a hate-filled, largely fact-free speech at CPAC - the Conservative Political Action Conference. Trump berated Bill Barr for not helping him overturn the election results, he slandered Hillary Clinton as his adoring fans chanted "lock her up," he mocked others and cursed like an ill-tempered teenager, and his groupies in the crowd loved it.

Donald Trump will continue to do all he can to destroy American democracy until the Department of Justice finally indicts him for the many crimes he committed in violation of the laws of the United States.
