is it just me or is the infected wart in the White House tweeting fewer

Blatant lies since twitter began fact checking him?

This is why we say "defund the police"

I don't know if many people know how genuinely disproportionate and skewed our overall funding for police is in most major cities. I certainly didn't until recently.

LA recently said it will cut it's police budget by 100-150 million. It sounded like a lot at first, but if you look at that chart, you can tell we can do a lot better than that. Cities should not just be entire police departments with some minor services on the side.

Oh and here's a picture of an LAPD Lamborghini parked in a disabled spot:

Los Angeles Times: "LA Schools Will Return Grenade Launchers, Keep Rifles"

Los Angeles Unified school police officials said Tuesday that the department will relinquish some of the military weaponry it acquired through a federal program that furnishes local law enforcement with surplus equipment. The move comes as education and civil rights groups have called on the U.S. Department of Defense to halt the practice for schools.

The Los Angeles School Police Department, which serves the nationís second-largest school system, will return three grenade launchers but intends to keep 61 rifles and a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected armored vehicle it received through the program.

(West Virginia) Paula Jean Swearengin Wins Democratic US Senate Primary

She is the most progressive candidate, and will be facing off against Shelley Moore Capito in November.

Political and environmental activist Paula Jean Swearengin won the West Virginia Democratic primary Tuesday evening.
Swearengin edged out former West Virginia State Senator Richard Ojeda and attorney Richie Robb.

Swearengin will now face-off with Republican incumbent Senator Shelley Moore Capito in November.

"What's humbled me the most is a lot of West Virginias that had to move out of state because there were not opportunities here, they have worked on our campaign because they just wanted to come home, so it's been really incredible," Swearengin said. "I'm really humbled."

curious: do you believe you have ever been a victim of institutional racism?

I have a few times, but not close to as much as others. Have you ever been targeted because of your race or felt your life endangered by the police because of your race, skin color or religion? Sorry I know this is a loaded question, but I am just curious what you have to say.

New CNN Poll: Biden 55 Trump 41

This is some very good news 5 months out.

No doubt heíll claim it is fake news, but a new CNN general election poll has President Trump lagging a massive 14 percentage points behind Joe Biden, at 41 percent to the former VPís 55 percent. The poll of 1,259 adults also saw a significant majority of Americans surveyed say racism is a big problem in the country today and that the criminal-justice system in America favors whites over blacks.

CA25 update (sort of)

It looks like Garcias lead has narrowed a little bit from the 11 point lead to less than a 10 point lead. Again it wont make a difference for the winner, but 100% reporting precincts does not mean 100% of ballots counted. Previous elections had between 250k to 300k votes while this one has so far only 170k or so. I expect there to at least be another 30 or 40k votes to count unless people really just didn't care about this election.

CA25 folk: check in here if you have already voted for Christy Smith.

I sent some chump change recently and the wife and I both sent our votes in a month ago. I plan to make some GOTV calls tomorrow...

Biden Strikes Deal Allowig Sanders to Retain Hundreds of Delegates, Maintain Influence over Party

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sandersí campaigns have reached an agreement that will see the Biden campaign voluntarily appoint some Sanders supporters to serve as delegates at the 2020 Democratic convention, according to a joint memo from the campaigns Thursday morning.

ďWhile Senator Sanders is no longer actively seeking the nomination, the Biden campaign feels strongly that it is in the best interest of the party and the effort to defeat Donald Trump in November to come to an agreement regarding these issues that will ensure representation of Sanders supporters and delegate candidates, both on the floor and in committees,Ē the memo states.

CA 25 (Katie Hill's District) Moves from Lean Democratic To Toss Up

Christy Smith is a great candidate, but could very well lose to Navy Vet Mike Garcia. If you can spare some change or time, I'm sure it would help.

California, during a pandemic, would be an unlikely place and time for a GOP upset. After all, Republicans haven't picked up a seat in the state since 1998 and most voters aren't enamored with President Trump's handling of the crisis. In fact, Trump's approval rating has barely budged since November 2018, when Democrat Katie Hill ousted GOP Rep. Steve Knight by seven points in California's 25th district.

But a month out from the May 12 all vote-by-mail special election to replace Hill, both parties view the race between Democratic state Assemblywoman Christy Smith and Republican former Navy fighter pilot Mike Garcia as a nailbiter.

This is a rare case in which both parties ended up with solid, impressive candidates who are straight out of central casting for the district. The 25th CD takes in northern Los Angeles County, including Santa Clarita, and has recently trended blue: four years after voting for Mitt Romney, it voted for Hillary Clinton 50 percent to 43 percent and registered Democrats now outnumber Republicans 38 percent to 32 percent.

To put Garcia's challenge in perspective, Republicans don't hold a single House seat in the country where Clinton received an absolute majority of the vote. But the 25th CD, with its reputation as a bedroom community for police and firefighters, has an independent streak and a considerable defense/aerospace industry. And so far, Garcia's biography appears to be resonating beyond the GOP base.
