"X" really does mark the spot – for a city investigation. The company formerly known as Twitter has rebranded to the letter, placing a massive light-up "X" on top of their San Francisco headquarters, apparently without a permit.
The long-standing sign identifying the headquarters as Twitter came down last week as Elon Musk announced the social media site has officially rebranded to "X." The site's parent company had already been renamed to X Corporation as Musk said he wants to create "the everything app."
"The Twitter name made sense when it was just 140 character messages going back and forth – like birds tweeting – but now you can post almost anything, including several hours of video," Musk said. "In the months to come, we will add comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world."
But the new sign at the company's San Fransico headquarters wasn't exactly installed up to code, according to the city.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Saturday explained exactly why Congress appears to be getting older.
Ocasio-Cortez, who recently hit back at Justice Samuel Alito's attempt to avoid all regulation from Congress, decided to address the inequities of Congress that lead to a generally older candidate pool. She picked up on a report that indicated that "Congress keeps getting older -- even as each newly elected class includes younger folks. The 2022 class had 18 new reps under 40. But older incumbents stick around longer," according to the report.
"There are many reasons for this, one being that the baby boomer gen changed a lot of the norms & structures of Congress (schedule, staff, cola, etc) so the actual job became very unsustainable for newer people who are younger, working class, or parents. Drives away young talent," Ocasio-Cortez posted on Saturday.
"Much of this can be traced to the 90s and Contract with America, but much of it is also the influence of lobbyists and rigid ways of thinking that are difficult to challenge meaningfully in a fundraising + seniority system. Class divides in Congress are an unspoken challenge, too." She explained:
"Even simple things like how votes are scheduled (& changed) are often hostile to parents and families. A lot of small details in this job is pretty much assumes you have a full-time, stay at home spouse. Which makes sense, because many/most did! But if you don’t, it’s a problem."

Yesterday, all of the Republican candidates competing for the presidential nomination attended the Iowa GOP’s Lincoln Dinner, giving speeches as the attempted to win over voters.
But that’s not what we’re here to talk about. Because there was one awkward moment during the event, and it was all thanks to Brooks & Dunn.
Obviously former President Donald Trump is the frontrunner in the Republican field of candidates for president right now. But he’s also facing significant legal trouble after being indicted on numerous charges in both state and federal court, including allegations of mishandling classified documents.
In fact, just this week, three more charges were added to the indictment against Trump in federal court.
So he probably didn’t need a reminder of the looming threat of prison time as he walked on stage in Iowa…but that’s what he got.

A trans man was brutally attacked by a Los Angeles police officer for having an air freshener hanging in his car.
Deputy Joseph Benza tackled 23-year-old high school teacher Emmett Brock to the ground after following him into a 7-Eleven parking lot. Surveillance video of the incident, combined with audio from the officer’s bodycam, shows that despite the fact that Brock continued to scream for help and assure the officer he was not resisting, the officer would not let up.
Benza can be heard screaming at Brock to place his hands behind his back while Brock yells multiple times that he can’t move his arms because the officer is holding them. The altercation lasted three minutes, during which Brock yelled, “You’re going to kill me. You’re going to f**king kill me. Help! Help! Help! I’m not resisting!” All the while, Benza was repeatedly punching Brock in the head while sitting on top of him.
