Russian propaganda is dividing America
I recently read an article that was the clearest analysis I have seen of the extent, strategy and effectiveness of Russian propaganda on American interests. i recommend it to you.

Its conclusions are:
"First, our results are alarming as social media platforms present substantial vulnerabilities that propaganda campaigns can exploit strategically. Without significant effort by social media platforms to curb the spread of disinformation, toxic content can spread widely and virally [71–76]. Here, more research is needed to understand the mechanism behind the pro-Russian propaganda campaign [77], as well as machine learning for detection [78]. Second, our results suggest that an effective countermeasure to curb the spread of propaganda is to reduce the influence of bots. Here, it may be likely that counter-measures from fake news mitigation can be adapted [79–81]; yet this requires further research to establish the effectiveness of such interventions. Third, propaganda on social media may influence public opinion and increase political division. It is thus important that policy-makers are aware of the potential threats that social media propaganda poses to modern societies. As such, it will be critical to continuously monitor and actively counter the proliferation of online propaganda in the future."
While this attack by Russia is known and assumed, my question is who is going to do the counter measures recommended above. Russia and allied countries and groups, including many oligarchs, are spending billions funding this effort. Where is the billions on the side of truth. One side wars are won by the one side.
The Fourth Estate (Our Press) is failing Democracy
This is a must read on the crisis we have in having a press, that we give protection for in our Democracy to protect our Democracy, is failing Democracy to the point of threatening our Democratic order and existence.

Trump is just a foil protecting the evil Republican Party
It is too late now. Since 2016, the media has focused on Donald Trump. How he took over a pure and pristine political party of good American conservatives. The good people of this Party, the stories goes will return to their senses and reject this evil pretender to the thrown. Just wait. The pivot is coming.

The Republican Party is evil. They are historically corrupt, historically racist and historically anti-democratic. How would things have been different if Ted Cruz had been elected?
Even the most Democratic leaning talk shows are filled with former Republican operatives who predict the Everett Dirksen Republicans of old will soon return to power when the Party rejects Trump. Return to what? These are the same people who built this monster giving hope that somehow, someway the Republican Party will return to something it never was?
The First Amendment is not just a right. It imposes a responsibility for the press to protect us by reporting the truth. Where are the voices? Where is the accountability? How can a Democracy with a free press have a majority of the members of one of it two political parties support racism, sedition, treason and the elimination of our Democracy and not be challenged by our press.
