What an effin' shame for her!
Hopefully there's been a bit at least less now for her at least.
It shocks me because as someone who was raised to do my best to be anti-racist for over 50 yrs I'd hoped there'd be a lot less institutional, and individual racism by now.
OTOH it doesn't surprise me because I've been listening to by radio, and tv, on line, reading about black people's experiences for 50+ years. So I know in general how much it still goes on. Always more to learn.
Since I live in a multi racial city I have gotten, I get to have the benefit of enjoying good commaderie with work colleagues who are Black (and other POC), good bosses, good teachers/profersors, people with professional services I need, and good friends.
So I have many more circles of good possibilities for connections.
Fucking SHAME on them!!!!!
Omg, a beautiful, sweet, peaceful Rememberence for Elijia... and these SCUM march in with pepper spray!?!!
Aarrrrrgggggggg!
Here in the Bronx...
Oh, it started late May; way more frequent, earlier and bigger/louder 8pm till 3AMish+. It really crescendoed over the weekend, and this Monday - then suddenly dropped by 90% back down to it's normal amount for 8 days out from 4th of July.
Thank goodness!

Ahhh....
...grilled cheese sandwich!. After not making for a looong time - I've made five in the past 2+ weeks.
Arnold's Oven White, or seedless rye.
Cheddar cheese melts away too fast. I don't like to mix cheeses for melting, so I've switched to Swiss (yum). If I remember I'll sprinkle on garlic/onion powder, black pepper. Must try provelone!
Like to add sliced tomatoes.
Melt butter in pan. Press down, then flip over so both sides are buttered.
I was thinking about- did I ever put a bit of mayo on it (inside) waaay back. Hmm.
My first cross-country trip by bus at a dinner stop in Indianapolis I tried a long roll hot with fresh turkey and melted Swiss. Oh, yum.
And us Greek-Americans at a Greek restaurant we can get melted flaming Greek cheese (one of several are used) in a small skillet or plate doused with lemon juice by the waiter. Then we scoop it up with pita bread! Sometimes olive oil and garlic are involved. Yum!!!
Ah, the Rhapsody of Grilled Cheese!

A deeply moving show of solidarity
When I was a young teen ('60's) I lived in a majority Jewish neighborhood. Was Catholic.
On one visit to a friend's house her mom showed us the small blue numbers tattooed on her wrist. Chilling.
Stay safe and healthy, Joyce Wagner!
